I love love love this. The art is beautiful, and WOW was I so glad to see a Dark Crystal shirt on teefury! Of all the weird, creepy movies I watched as a kid, this one is one that I can still watch today. Instabuy!

This kind of art is what TeeFury needs to have. Go back and look at the first generation of shirts and real visually striking art and fantasy type shirts were way more common.

Absolutely! The cutsie kid shirts have their place, but exceptional, mature art like this should not be such a rarity.

Tell us about this design.

It's an homage to one of my favorite movies. Ever since I was a kid I've always loved the world of Thra and the mythology that Jim Henson and Frank Oz created within the film. I always see images of the Skeksi's or Gelfling's and while I love them and the fan art I never see much of the actual world or wildlife being portrayed.

Where are you from?

I am from San Luis Obispo, California and I currently reside in Long Beach!

How did you get started designing t-shirts?

I actually dont design them as much as I used to, I mainly draw comics and do character design now. But I started out doing websites, logos, and shirt designs for death metal bands and hip hop groups. I designed all of my old band's material, did some work for a few swedish metal bands and even did a flyer for a Bone Thugs N' Harmony show! Probably my single greatest achievement to date.

What advice would you offer to aspiring designers?

I would definitely learn to draw! Whether that be digitally or traditionally, design is not entirely digital these days, I have a lot of friends who still do work for bands and prints that work entirely in pen & ink (and of course us a scanner). I would also recommend studying composition because it will seriously help your placement of text and the flow of imagery, the Golden Spiral is a great tool that should be used often!

What would be your dream job?

I guess I am working my dream job, which is drawing comics! Is cranky old man and/or wizard a job? Because I would also like to do that. I would imagine there is a great market for it, who needs wizard help? Everyone does!

What is your favorite thing about mythology?

This is a tough question. I think I'd like to go with: EVERYTHING. I love myth, the study of myth, all of it. I love that, very much like science, it is a pulsing network which connects all cultures beyond the scope of most peoples knowledge. If anyone is interested in learning more about mythology I highly recommend Joseph Campbell. His work is phenomenal

What would your ideal house be like?

My ideal house could really be anywhere, as long as it had a zip-line. It's kind of a deal breaker for me.

Forest vs. beach: which would win the battle?

Well, I prefer the forest personally. But in a battle? I would say beach. That is, the ocean. The sea conquers all.

What was your favorite as a kid: comics, cartoons, or movies? Was there a specific title you liked most of all?

Again, a very tough question. Im going to say ALL and give 3 part answers of the specific titles I liked of each growing up.

Comics: I loved anything Batman or Spider-man related and was particularly fond of Mike Mignola's Hellboy which to this day still shows me the dark places that comics can reach as a medium.

Cartoons: The 90's X-Men cartoon, Biker Mice from Mars, and Street Sharks. I loved them all equally.

Movies: The Matrix was hugely influential to me growing up. It taught me that movies and stories could still be as imaginative and daring as Star Wars, but also taught me to question authority and ask "Why?"
