Teefury shirts are a hassle for me to buy. I don't have online buying options and so pay my friend to purchase them for me.

I was all "LOVES it" about this shirt and was debating on getting it, considering I just did a trade and bought one two weeks ago.

But after reading the artist's "what they want Teefury fans to know", I mean, wow. I'm a see-you-next-Tuesday all the time, but that just left me thinking, "Why bother?" With that attitude, why bother supporting, why should I show my love with my hard-earned money and my friend's kindness. So I'm not bothering.

I'm quite sure that was sarcasm and the artist is joking around. It's okay to have fun!

In regards to this shirt I love the happy sun who is totally content with all the back-breaking mayhem! Personally I'd love to own the following shirts if they're available anywhere:
The bears picnic & Capistrano Spring Break!

I think it's pretty clear he was kidding :)

Although TeeFury artists are very talented and awesome, to the best of my knowledge none of them have ever been mobbed in public by fanatical illustration fans begging for autographs.

I really loved the design. But the thing that ruined it for me was the interview. If I was an artist I would be greatful for people that appriciate my art, not be ride toward my fans. This guy seems entirly ungrateful for the sucess that he has incountered. If you don't want people to talk to you, do something boring, not something that relies majorly on people, a fan-base, and appriciation....

I couldn't help but notice a number of angry and/or disappointed comments being directed at me based on my interview answers. Hopefully, I won't make things any worse by trying to clear this all up... but if you think that that the majority of my interview answers were serious, then we're all doomed as a species.

As a public service to all of you, I would like to quickly deconstruct my interview answers to eliminate any confusion as to whether or not I was being facetious or serious. For you see, at least 90% of my answers were JOKES.

    OK, here we go...

    1) Me being raised by feral golden retrievers and owning hummel figurines? JOKE! If you believed any of this answer, GET HELP IMMEDIATELY. Also, as this preposterous, inaugural answer kicked off my interview, it should have clued you in that the rest of my answers might follow suit.

    2) Me hating being approached in public and signing autographs? JOKE! I wish I could say that I've been recognized and asked for autographs enough times to actually become sick of it, but it's only happened a couple times... and when it did happen, I LOVED IT!

    3) Being inspired by inspirational things? TRUTH in the form of a JOKE. The joke is the part about not listing any specifics.

    4) Me getting into art by krazy-gluing crayons to my hands as a high school senior? JOKE! If you believed this answer, pick up something heavy and hit yourself in the head with it immediately! After that, repeat several times.

5A) Me purchasing an island if I had a million dollars? Possibly TRUTH. I mean, I would love to own my own island, but I'm not sure I'd actually be able to afford a decent one after taxes.

5B) Me wanting to move to that island to avoid Teefury fans? JOKE! Are you kidding? I would have Teefury fan beach parties every night! You would have to be able to distinguish between JOKES and NOT JOKES to get in though. Oh, and there would also be a cover charge.

    6) My love for 40's and 50's cartoons and Chuck Jones? 100% TRUTH. This was my only serious answer in the entire interview.

    7) Me giving myself a shout out? JOKE! Who gives themself a shout out? That would be ridiculous.

So there you have it. For those of you who liked my design but won't buy it because of a few JOKES, might I suggest instead finding a doctor willing to perform a $9 lobotomy on you? Okay, you see what I just did there? That was another JOKE!

Lighten up a little, will ya? I mean, c'mon!

    -andyg

P.S. You don't have to think any of my jokes are funny either... you just need to be able to pick them out.

Wow loved the design till i read his info on the side. WHATADOOSH !! I wont ever buy anything you put up my man cause ya don't treat people who want to compliment your work and your talent with that kinda response and if your just trying to be "funny" in the side talk by acting that way for an interview guess what it comes across not funny and sounding full of yourself. The design is good, I would have like to buy it and this is just my opinion but i'm not gonna support that kinda attitude.

I also thought the answer to that question was annoying...I would like to think there was a level of joking around involved since it was hard to really take much of the content in the interview seriously...either way, I'm not a big fan of the shirt and the hopefully dry humor of interview didn't do much to win me over (not that I think he was trying to). Hopefully better luck tomorrow...one of the reasons 24 hours is the perfect amount of time before changing up the available design.

  • panfriedsaid 80 weeks ago

The artist has some serious chops - for sure - no argument there. Congrats on the print. You're a helluvan artist.

The sarcasm in the interview, however, is NOT obvious - hence all of the negative comments, which prompted the artist to chime in and explain himself.

I was also taken aback when I read the interview. I don't know this guy from Tom, CaptainKirk, or Harry, so to assume the sarcasm would unequivocally understood, was a risk that may or may not sell more shirts. It just came off as arrogant, pompous, and "I've got not time for this t-shirt selling stuff... I've got better things to do."

BTW - not all artwork should have to be decoded to be understood, which seems to be the theme here. IMO, the social "meme" stuff is tired and overplayed. Simplicity and originality are inspiring, not regurgitated content that originated from some idiot on YouTube, or other social site.

All that said, looking forward to tomorrows tee! :)

Really dig the design and allusion to Devo's "Whip it".
When I see below comments like " ...but, I love my mom ".
I can tell some people still aren't tracking this design was inspired by the song "Whip It" by Devo?

" Crack that whip / Give the past a slip / Step on a crack / Break your momma's back "
  • blythechildsaid 80 weeks ago

    Disturbing
  • Axeholessaid 80 weeks ago

    - To me this shirt's meaning was obvious the moment I saw it. How could you not know as the boy "steps-on-the-crack", he in turn would "break-his-momma's-back"?
    - If you had to "decode" the meaning of this design, you probably hate the 80's, think slowly, are too young, just not hip to Devo's "Whip it" (which is one of the most famous 80's songs ever), or any combination of the above.

It's ridiculous that a bit of innocent sarcasm would cause the loss of so many sales. (And even more so that they didn't take back their rants in extreme embarrassment after having it explained!) The design is awesome and the interview brilliant! Congrats, Andy! Maybe you'd be more successful if you had no sense of humor. It's a truly dangerous thing.
  • buffalo lilsaid 80 weeks ago

I love the cartoonish look, but the design is so-so. I agree, though, the interview totally turned me off. I know he is probably trying to be funny, but it kinda comes off as cocky and rude. :/ No monies from me!
  • lickeysaid 80 weeks ago

i signed up just to get this shirt. although, after reading his "about the artist" section, i'm debating whether or not to since it seems like it'll just piss him off if i buy it...especially from teefury apparently
  • biddybrainsaid 80 weeks ago

What a sweet sentiment. I Got one for me and my son. : )
I guess it's asking too much to request a tee with the cute hungry bear.
  • Teenysaid 80 weeks ago

I think his side bio was supposed to be sort of funny and silly. Obviously he should have invested in a sarcasm sign! ( don't worry, dude, I felt ya.)

This shirt makes me feel guilty, but I like it. Not gonna buy it, cuz it's not representative of me, but it's cool!
  • fraise12said 80 weeks ago

i love the idea and it's very well executed. not something i would wear though. but great job! :]
  • lickeysaid 80 weeks ago

screw it, i like it too much, i'll just buy it, give him his space, and hope it contributes to his special little island he can get for a million dollars... that actually sounds like a pretty good deal btw
  • Hadjisahnsaid 80 weeks ago

Amazing. I love the color and style
  • OtakuRyusaid 80 weeks ago

Dig the shirt; not diggin this artist's attitude. I can't stand pompous, full-of-themselves artists.
  • OtakuRyusaid 80 weeks ago

-- Whether or not he's joking, it's not amusing enough to make me want to buy it.

    But o lawd... the interwebs.
  • D4N13Lsaid 80 weeks ago

Loves the style! I played that when I was a kid, we call it "sin pisar las lìneas", or "don't step on the lines" or something like that :o)

  • jenevolvessaid 80 weeks ago

cute, but I really want the peace dove in the sideart!!!
  • lickeysaid 80 weeks ago

just goes to show that not all artists are comedians, but i think that's okay, so i bought it

Are you sure the Golden Retrievers was a JOKE? lol :P Because I thought that would be pretty awesome...or you somehow were delusional and imagined your real mother and father were Golden's. In any case love the sense of humor

Obviously some of you aren't getting it. Most of us understand that the interview was complete sarcasm. By this point, with as many people that have said it, we get it.

However, the sarcasm was not entertaining. At first glance, it looks stuck up and rude. It shouldn't take a rereading to understand that you're being sarcastic. Next time, I would probably tone it down.

As for the design, It's very well done. However, I'm agreeing with whoever said it first that I would feel guilty wearing it around my mom lol.
  • Axeholessaid 79 weeks ago
