    ...I don't get it.

I mean I know who Gutenberg was, but I still don't get it.

That and I think the image is unflatteringly square.

I Love this, but all i can think about is steve gutenberg
  • neonix said 257 weeks ago

Pretty cool. Too boxed in for my taste though.
  • peppersagooddog said 257 weeks ago

i would probably buy this if i had some kind of money.
  • peppersagooddog said 257 weeks ago

it seems one has to BE OG to "get" OG lol
  • daveconrey said 257 weeks ago

very cool, but I don't like the shirt color.
  • wringz said 257 weeks ago

Great concept but this is gonna end up like the Edgar Allan Poe shirt. Sure it's pretty cool but kinda tough to explain to people :))

Yes. Original gangsta', I get that. Hilarious.

I just don't get the application. He was an engraver that invented movable type printing, nothing which really seems to apply to the modern term "gangsta'". I think Shakespeare makes more sense as an OG than Gutenberg.

I don't get what being an artist/engineer/designer has to do with being gangsta'. Sorry, I'm apparently not cool enough for this tee.

    Not my style.

The website is GREAT though. The "Profile" section literally starts with the words "First we understand your brand, then we make it more awesome."
  • TurnThePaige said 257 weeks ago

    ugh do not dig this.
    its so plain and ordinary.
  • Muntoe said 257 weeks ago

This is definitely not my type of shirt, but I really love the old style it's in! The grapes also make me hungry...
  • Kimoppi said 257 weeks ago

I am excited to see that 2 years of French actually stuck in my brain.

As for the design... I love most of it, but the "OG" doesn't do it for me. Maybe if they had been on the sides of Gutenberg? When I first looked at the image I thought "Fancy Mickey ears?" and unfortunately followed that with "As a girl, that would draw attention to the fact that my melons aren't that perky."
  • Soccerfun88 said 257 weeks ago

One use of the phrase of being "gangsta" is being "cool" or "hip".
Gutenburg, by inventing something, was pretty "gangsta". I mean, I really don't know anyone who uses that phrase outside of joking with friends, but if I'm playing indoor or something, and someone does something really good, or completely punks someone else, I might let out a "gangsta" comment.
  • panny said 257 weeks ago

I definitely LOLed when I saw this!
  • Soccerfun88 said 257 weeks ago

I really need to remember that we have a quote button now...

I'm a sucker for those baroque swirly patterns surrounding the chi-ro-ish letters and I dig the old-school style, but I'm kinda with stabler on not really getting it as a joke. I understand "Original Gutenberg" and the whole OG gangsta thing, but ... I dunno I guess maybe I just don't think it's that funny haha... but different strokes for different folks, surely.

Plus that random floating ram head is a little weird.

Overall though, I dig the design. I like the baroque swirls and the old-school flavor to it. I like more than I don't on this.. Blablabla.

  • pers said 257 weeks ago

When I see "O. G." my first thought is Olive Garden, which makes this shirt a definite no for me. I also am not a fan of the design's shape. Leaving off the grapevines at the top of the design may have helped somewhat.

Grats on the print but not for me.
  • Truth-dare-or-deathwish said 257 weeks ago

I really like this. Will sleep on it.
  • jjol said 257 weeks ago

If your into printing Gutenberg made that happen. He truly is a pikachu G and def the original Gangsta' of printing.
  • alimd said 257 weeks ago

I feel like I, as someone majoring in both art education and history education, should like this, and I do, but not enough to buy it. It would be really hard to explain to people. Also square prints only work for boys, laydeez end up with an odd rectangle with wavy sides, not cool.

It's a nice wood cut looking print though, and that's not a style I can work in, so I'm impressed with that.
  • CPUT99 said 257 weeks ago

Come to think of it, if it were just the "OG" along with some of the swirls and vines, I'd be more inclined to buy it.

Thou word is truest puppy dog (one of Shakespeare's many neologisms).
  • godzilla said 257 weeks ago

i love it when a tee feeds us a little history...

and to those complaining about it being "too square" or "boxy"-- i think that's the point. it's supposed to look kind of like a printed page.
  • steveomac said 257 weeks ago

This i understand, and i honestly dont think it would be difficult to explain to people 'cuz it isn't a reference to gutenberg being a gangster. It a reference to him being the originator of something...print. At least it wasn't a bunch of non-sense like that puma with clouds and diamonds tee from a while back
