When it said "Memorial Day Grab Bag" I was kind of hoping they'd limit the Tee's to be themed shirts. C'est la vi I suppose.
  • KeeliJace said 8 weeks ago

How do you choose the shirts. Can't figure it out...
  • blckandrd said 8 weeks ago

I liked this idea more the first time around. Is this the second or third time they've done it? While I like that they have options for non Whovian fans I wish they'd have grab bags for other fan bases like Trekkies vs. Star Wars or Pokemon or I dunno My Little Pony or something. Again really great for the Non-Who stuff but where's the grab bags for other things people are crazy about? I think it'd be awesome to have a themed grab bag that's not just special because it's for "Non-Who's". And I know lots of people are gonna say well Doctor Who stuff sells but come on you can't tell me a big group of people wouldn't get excited for some Star Wars or something :p. But since it's for Memorial Day something that's more relatable to the holiday would've been cool too, although I suppose sometimes TeeFury is a little behind on that maybe it'll be tomorrow's tees. Who knows :)

You just pick your size. The grab bag is totally random with what shirt you get. If you like Doctor Who pick that one. If you don't order from the Non-Who one :)

These things always scare the bajeebers out of me and I've yet to do one....but I'm so angry that I missed that Bioshock Infinite shirt that I feel I can spare 6 bucks for a gamble...

Has anyone here actually ever gotten exactly what they wanted? :P

I think the main reason for this isn't actually favoring one fan base over another. Dr. Who shirts appear with the greatest frequency and are common complain non-whovians have about the shirts the site selects. This option is mainly to address that issue and give the non-who fans a chance to opt out of the Who shits.

TL:DR It's done more for the non Dr. Who fans than the actual Dr. Who fans.

very well said. while I like the many different shirt on this site, it seems that the biggest battle is always between whos and non whos. I love the idea of a grab bag option of trekkies or star wars. I've seen this same grab bag option like three times in the last couple of months. lets get a little more creative guys
  • loraruffner said 8 weeks ago

I did. I did the last grab bag (my first time to ever take the leap) and out of the blue I got the one shirt I missed when I was on a cruise and had no internet. It was quite awesome actually. :)

yea yea yea yea yea "I don't like doctor who" "I dont want it available in grab bags" wah wah wah, Why do you think they have this? Because EVERY SINGLE TIME a doctor who shirt comes out like 70% of the comments are people complaining. If we made it like Disney and non-Disney, I guarantee you there will be people like, I dont like Disney, I want this, but I don't want a chance at getting a Doctor who shirt. complain complain complain. End rant.

I've done this twice before and each time I got one shirt for myself and two shirts for one of my nieces who happened to have a birthday around that time. Both times my shirts were spot on perfect Doctor Who shirts. The niece's shirts, not-so-much. First time she got a Harry Potter shirt (which she likes) and a Final Fantasy VIII shirt (which she's never played and knows nothing about). The second time both shirts were the exact same Perfect Detective design in two different colors. Neither of us had ever even heard of the show, let alone felt the need to wear a shirt about it. Very disappointed. This time I got a Who and a non-Who so they'll be different. Hoping for a good one, but we'll see.

Is anyone else having trouble ordering? I'm selecting the quantity under my size like I always do, going through everything, selecting the shipping method, and clicking "place order." But instead of going through, it says "Whoops!
Please select at least one shirt quantity before proceeding to checkout..." It's done this three times already.

@Kevindoug77 -- Hey thanks for the reply on that! That actually gave me the smart idea of getting two instead of one to "better" my chances. I mean, typically a shirt cost 14 at the end of it all total...I'd practically getting 2 for the price of 1. Smart. x3

And I agree...I think the Non-Who and Whovian shirts aren't for Whovians but for Non-Whovians. I know that one of the reasons I never got grab-bags in the past was because I really did not want a Dr. Who shirt. I'm actually quite okay with this set up, even if it doesn't lessen the chances of getting what I really want. The goal for them is to clear out their old stock too.

Though it would be really nice to have 10 different categories (Dr. Who, Video Games, Disney, TV Shows, Comics etc) I think we should be happy with what we have for now. Maybe in the future?

I totally agree with you on having different fandom grab-bags. I really want one of the recent Game of Thrones shirts, but I don't want to do the Non-Who bag because I know I would be sooooo disappointed if I didn't get one. And if my luck is anything like the last time I did a grab-bag, I'm not going to end up with one.

Haven't purchased any shirts in a while and this is awesome timing for a grab-bag. Personally I love DW so the option to get specific shirts on top of the other amazing designs is awesome. I'm really hoping I get the Nightmare Before Christmas shirt I missed a few days ago. I'd be ecstatic to pull that but I'm sure I'll be happy with whatever.

Yup you obviously didn't read what I said or you would've known I wasn't complaining about the Dr. Who so much as I was expressing my opinion that it'd be cool to cater to other fandoms as well for grab bags.

I wasn't really complaining, but thanks for your rant. Sure I don't like Doctor Who. I don't even like Star Wars, and I've never seen an episode of Star Trek. I find it funny that whenever someone expresses their opinion in the comments someone else has to make it into an argument or attack the person's ideas. I just thought it'd be a cool idea that if TeeFury wants to do "themed" grab bags maybe they could do something else too to mix it up. And yeah it's hard to please everyone especially since it's usually one or two shirts a day but it's not a big deal. Disney grab bag could be a cute idea. Star Wars vs Trekkie grab bag would be an awesome idea in my opinion even though I don't care for either XD I just think it'd be a smart move on TeeFury's end but I dunno if that fan base has fizzled out. It was more of posing the idea of why not do a different theme instead of just Dr. Who/Non-Who?

I ordered two from a grab bag sale a few months back, and both were super rad shirts that I was stoked/lucky to receive...looking forward to ordering a few more from today's sale.

I figure the point is because there are just so. many. Whovian shirts. That it makes it a little more fair to those who aren't fans but still want a nice random shirt.

Yes, actually both the last times I ordered I've gotten what I wanted! First time around, I got the My Little Epona shirt I was hoping for, and the second time, I ordered one shirt each for my three kids and myself, and we all got shirts we really loved. It was so much fun to pull the shirts out of the package and find one shirt that was perfect for each of us!

Looks like you're the one who didn't read the other guy's comment. As he said, the point of the Who/Non-Who grab bags is just that there are so many Who shirts, and so many people that DON'T want them. These aren't catering to a fanbase, they're catering to people who don't want a 10-20% chance of getting a shirt from a fandom they aren't a part of.
