About the artist
Tell us about this design.
Megan: This is a tattoo (flash) pin up design inspired by Amy Pond, aka "The Girl Who Waited." It's a collaboration between Omega Man 5000 and Megan Lara with both coming up with the composition, Omega providing the inks and Megan colouring. There are references to many of the major plot points during the Ponds' time as companions, and we chose her kiss-o-gram outfit because it's the most "pin up" type of outfit.
OmegaMan5000: what she said. :)
Where are you from?
How did you get started designing t-shirts?
Megan: By accident, really. I did an art nouveau style Princess Peach and someone was like "Hey, that would be awesome on a shirt." So I put it on one and just kinda started winging it after that. I've been very lucky with all my success, and I'm very thankful that Teefury gave me a chance with my first tee design!
OmegaMan5000: Actually I just kind of stumbled across Threadless and Design By Humans one day and a few months later decided to sub a design (to DBH), which got printed, my very first one ever. And then I found out about Teefury here and subbed one... and that got printed too! :D So I decided, hey this might be cool to do for a living.
What advice would you offer to aspiring designers?
Megan: Be kind. You can raise yourself up without bringing others down; negativity can really kill your creativity. Draw every day. Don't get discouraged easily. And take a break occasionally--no, take a break often! I work at home and this has been my biggest hurdle. I work all day!
OmegaMan5000: Never give up! Never surrender! Even in the face of Armageddon!
What would be your dream job?
Megan: This is pretty much my dream job! Now I just need to move out of Missouri. :D
OmegaMan5000: Same here, minus the moving out of MO part. :)
What is your favorite thing about time travel?
Megan: I would love to be able to go back and see historical things like the moon landing and such, but being as clumsy and awkward as I am, I'd probably give us away and we'd get killed. I think I'd be a bigger fan of space travel!
OmegaMan5000: I'd like to say I'd be all noble and nostalgic and adventourus like Megan but I'd probably just go back and figure out a way to make myself rich somehow. HA!
What would your ideal house be like?
Megan: It would be really sweet to live in a house that was modeled after the Tardis. Though, that might get old after a while, what with all the "Is it bigger on the inside?" questions I'd probably get. Boring answer: somewhere in Chicago, with four bedrooms, three bathrooms, a big basement with lots of room for activities, and a yard for my corgi. I'm pretty simple. :D I'd also really love a maid because I suck at domestic things.
OmegaMan5000: Omega Supreme.
Robots vs. superheroes: which would win the battle?
Megan: Hmmmm that's a tough question. I'd definitely like to see the battle, but I thiiiiink probably robots. Mostly because Omega is kind of a robot and he'll probably hurt me if I say superheroes. :)
OmegaMan5000: Hey sexy momma....you wanna kill all humans?
What was your favorite as a kid: comics, cartoons, or movies? Was there a specific title you liked most of all?
Megan: Movies! I watched movies constantly because there were no comic shops around and we didn't have cable or anything. It was pretty much Mr. Rogers and VHS tapes. I watched Disney movies over and over. I actually think the movie I watched the most as a kid was Jurassic Park (came out when I was around five), which is still FREAKING AWESOME.
OmegaMan5000: Cartoons. Ren N Stimpy was always my fave. (jesus, how old am I?)
What are a few of your favorite websites?
Megan: Reddit, Etsy, Fitocracy and Teemagnet! SOOOO many tees :)
OmegaMan5000: Any ones that let me watch movies and/or TV shows for free. ;)
Any shout outs?
Megan: A big shout-out to my friends in the RxBA, for being awesome (and sharing my love of hyenas). And for Omega here for doing collabs with me! My fanpage (http://www.facebook.com/mLARAart) is pretty sweet too--thanks for supporting my art, guys. <3
OmegaMan5000: RxBA people too, the peoples at TF here for printin all our collabs, everybody who's been buyin' 'em up, and also Megan herself here for letting me totally ride her coattails!
PS, my fanpage is ever sweeter than hers (https://www.facebook.com/OmegaMan5k). :D
