So I've been contemplating submitting T-Shirt designs for a while now, I finally decided it's something I really want to do but I was wondering if someone could clear something up for me.
One of the submission rules is that the design can't have more than 6 colours, does that include tones? So if I use 6 shades of red I can't use any more colours?
And if so then does that mean you can't use gradients or fading effects in your designs?

So using halftones, hatching or similar techniques to create a gradient effect would be ok but using the actual gradient tool would count as hundreds of different colours?
