Just curious about something...I have done some shirt designs for a local social club I am in...they've all been riffs on recognizable designs...a Pink Floyd album cover, the iconic Woodstock poster, things like that. Even did a Mad Men takeoff. I alter it, typically in Photoshop, to make the design relevant to the club event, but it's still pretty obviously a recognized image at the heart of it.

My curiousity is, how do all of these artists get away with using imagery, slogans, etc. on shirts that are for profit without getting into trouble? It's come into questing amongst the leadership of the club I am in, so I am just wondering...I am sure it's a simple answer. Thanks!
