I just need to vent. Had a killer design idea, got excited and began working on it in my excitement and forgot to Google it first. I wised up and checked before I got too far and as it turns out the idea I had has already been done. Too close to my design and really no way to re-invent it without losing the humor. Phooey!!

It is really hard to do something new. I had a shirt up yesterday. At first I thought it was completely original. Then my buddy pointed out after seeing it that there was a Star Wars/Cheers mash up a couple years back. I wasn't following the site back then, had no idea.But I contacted the guy to make sure he'd be okay with me submitting a similar idea.
Maybe you should do that, put your own personal spin on it and make sure you're not treading on toes.

"Breakfast Cereal Club" (breakfast club/cereal characters mash up)
"Korova Milk Bar" (could easily do a spin off but it's just been done to death)
and those are two just off the top of my head but it happens at least once a week. It really smurfs.
