I like how the TARDIS is incorperated into the moth.

yea at first I thought you couldn't see the image or was having issues with your computer, but after I read the 4th image, I started to laugh.
I like it very much and is better than anything I can come up with.
What about making the moth blue or would that be overkill?

hmm hmm ... Ilike the idea and all. looks nifty. but then again, you yourself mentioned the similarity between "Silence" and a human skull. I know it would throw you're design overboard as it is, but it's basically the very same idea, just more into the Silence of the Lambs direction: why not having any of the Doctor's face in the background ... and having the moth with the skull-like face (Silence) on it in the foreground?

FYI: noticed how the skull in the original poster isn't in fact a skull, but naked women ... taken from one of Phillipe Halsman's portraits of Dalí? I better link it instead of putting it in here, contains ... well, naked women of course

Thanks for the suggestions! I did think of doing the Silence as the deathshead but I was worried that the small size would make it less recognizable. Also, more importantly, I'm absolute rubbish at drawing humans/Time Lords :( But hey, here's an opportunity for me to practice!
Haha I remember the day I noticed the naked ladies...I was standing in Blockbuster reading the DVD boxes (What? It's what the cool kids do.) and realized that there was something a little...strange about that skull. Definite mind-blowing moment there.

Awesome design. I might suggest drawing distinct eyes on the Silent (perhaps the same color eyes as the Silence of the Lambs poster). It might add to the eeriness of the character as well as allow the design to better mirror the poster.

I wonder what it would look like without the white border. :)

No outline, no eyes in my opinion. The face and the moth look amazing, definitely looks like the Silence, love the sketched style.. very John Tenniel.. would definitely buy this.

Here's a rough version with a blue moth. I dunno how I feel about it...the blue makes more sense but it doesn't pop as much as the yellow. Hmmm. Suggestions?

I'd say try a brighter shade of blue. :) This blue has a little too much purple in it.
