Both are nice indeed. I prefer the first one, but only because the tail of the bird on the second one seems somewhat disappointing. Considering the detail of the design, some sort of exotic fan of feathers seems more appropriate. Right now it just looks like this blunt shape with a bird's head (in my opinion).
Don't get me wrong though, the rest of it is great.

Thanks for the comments! AlexWillms I see what you mean about the tail. It's a bit late to re-enter it in this derby, but if it gets recycled for somewhere else I'll do some adjustments.
