Hello. I have newly discovered this site and have found it to be absolutely fantastic. And, with that said, I would like to try and contribute, but I had a question.

When does a photo become a caricature or just copyright? Here is an example below:

This was a design I was hoping to submit next month. I have done a couple other designs, but for some reason, this one stands out to me just because it seems to fit the show well and I like the color scheme. As I went to school for graphic design, I could make an extreme caricature of Starbuck, but for this type it wouldn't feel right. Now, I won't lie, there are some elements of live trace used (I know; I too hate using it), but there is also a good amount of manipulation that I used with the pen tool. So again, I ask: When does a photo become a caricature or just copyright?

What does everyone else think? I figure this could also be a good thread to discuss this topic just in general as well.
