I don't think so. They don't do it at woot,dbh,anothersite, etc. You can't predict which colors people will like/dislike, and it's expensive.

Assuming the tees are printed to order, would it really be that much of an extra cost?

I agree, I really think it's a good idea, places like dhb & anothersite print a stock when they get a new design, therefore they cant do multiple colours, but if you print to order, you just could have a stock of different coloured shirts at all time... Mabye an idea?
Even though this mabye takes away the "unique-ness" of having a limited edition Tee Fury shirt. I don't know, what do you guys think? ;)

I love a lot of these designs, but I don't wear bright colored shirts. It would be awesome if TeeFury had optional colorways for an extra 2$.

I'm actually the same way, I don't do bright or light shirts. Black, gray, and asphalt are my main colors, and some designs are great but just not on a shirt color I would ever wear.
