Since we've printed and interviewed Ruby Red many times, we decided to do a community member interview. We asked our Facebook who was a RubyRed and Teefury fan, and Niku was one of the first to reply! So meet Niku, a fellow Teefurian.

Tell us about yourself!

Im 22, male, persian, born in california, moved 25 times, including living in australia. i love women, cheese, vans shoes, nudies jeans, and vinyl records! in that order!
 
I've seen you on the internet almost nude for "Tumblr topless tuesday." How does the internet react to those photos?

I'm proud of my body, and im an avid participant in topless tuesday. ive only got 3 words to say to this - haters gonna hate!
 
It's a bummer that American Apparel is going out of business, you are
prime candidate for their ...sexy ads.

haha well thank you! maybe if they used me as a model people would be rushing into the stores to buy clothing and they wouldnt be going out of business now...... :P
 
What's the future for Niku Azam? Moving abroad?

right now im just trying to get out of virginia. ive given too much of my time to it. im saving up to move to the netherlands by the end of the year. if i dont have enough funds by then, im gonna move to california or miami and continue saving until im able to move. de nederlands is my ultimate goal, i freakin love it there!
 
How did you find Teefury?

i found teefury....because of lost! i was looking for lost tshirts and stumbled across the fury. from there, there was no turning back. it was love at first site.
 
What is your favorite Ruby Red shirt?

my favourite ruby red tee is either "meerkat cctv" or "still need the vision" cant decide between the two. "still need the vision" because im a photographer myself and the concept is just genius, and "meerkat cctv" cause i just love meerkats! honestly though, i love rubyred;s style and you cant go wrong with any of his tshirts!

What is your favorite Teefury shirt?
 
my favourite teefury shirt was smokey the lost bear. it was my first, and unfortunately i hadnt ordered a shirt before so i ordered a large (i wear medium). it fit like a dress on me. i was super bummed. melbel really wanted the shirt, and i wasnt gonna just be selfish, so i gave it to her in exchange for a different lost shirt, since i knew she would actually wear it. still miss that shirt to this day, and i would order it off redbubble, but i want the teefury tag on it!

Do you get comments on your Ruby Red/Teefury shirts?

allllllll the time. literally whenever i wear "still need the vision", or any fury shirt for that matter, almost EVERY single person stops me to compliment my shirt or ask where i got it. then i tell them how much i paid for it and their jaw drops! wearing a teefury shirt is such an icebreaker and a good conversation starter at parties. every time i wear a teefury shirt i turn at least 5 people onto teefury, and they usually become faithful fans/returning customers.
 
What's the most exciting thing that's ever happened to you?

probably moving to australia, or when my band got to play warped tour and SXSW. i love traveling so much, so any chance i get to travel is very exciting to me.
 
I've seen your work history on Facebook. What was one of the cooler jobs you've had?

haha. i actually used to be a specimen technician for quest diagnostics. i made $12/hour to sit underground in a lab and sort through specimens that had been shipped in from doctors all over the country. that included blood, semen, serums, knee fluids, pap smears..you name it, i handled it. let me tell you...baby poo smells HORRIBLE, and can penetrate dry ice from a mile away. other than that, i was a cook at burger king in australia when i was 13, ive worked retail, serving, stock, selling liqueur to clubs, handing out flyers in NYC--you name it, ive probably done it.
 
What other communities do you participate in online?

i help run a blink 182 online fan site/message board, that ive been a member of since i was 15, and i also run a vans blog (http://vansshoes.tumblr.com). Other than that, im a member of a vinyl collectors message board. Collecting vinyl is almost as addicting as teefury. Ive given up meals for a couple days in order to afford a new record or shirt from the fury! but thats nothing to be ashamed of :D

All the fine ladies on teefury (there are quite a lot!), rubyred for being an awesome artist (and my 400th follower on twitter :P), and anybody who isnt offended by my hairy bare chested body. oh, and teefury, specially MJ and jimiyo. you will always have a special place in my heart, keep doing what you do, cause what you guys do is awesome!
