I love the robot side arts, they're both fantastic. So's the Bacon infinite one.
I don't really think this design is that funny, though. It's not really clever at all. The only thing tying the two references together is the phoneme "ay". Maybe if the text wasn't there and you were left to make the connection yourself based on the images only, it wouldn't be quite as trite. As I said though, I love almost all of the side arts, I would purchase the robots or bacon infinite in a heartbeat.

Firstly, Che and "K" are a minimal pair. You can't rhyme any more than that without being the same. Secondly, I think its a cute twist on the ironic commercialization of a Marxist figure. Like the Onion's 'Che wearing a Che Shirt'.

I am so fed up of seeing Che shirts on sale at the mall, at Zellers, etc etc etc.
I had the Che shirt when it first came out, when I was a frustrated rebellious teenager.
All mall Che shirts are meaningless capitalist products.
This shirt has balls and brains and respect and no respect and I look forward to wearing it.
However if I ever go on vacation in Cuba I will definitely leave it at home.

Yeah, not a huge fan of this one either. It reminds me of Mr. T-Rex from a couple weeks ago. This one has a bit more to say, possibly a statement on iconography. But overall, it's a simple word play. I'm reminded of The Simpsons episode where Krusty did his terrible variety comedy show filled with silly pun-birthed skits like "Mad About Shoe", where a guy kisses a giant shoe. There's nothing at all substantial in that idea, recognizing the fact that 'shoe' rhymes with 'you' isn't comedy. I agree that the text doesn't help, it's like saying "Get it? Get it!?" after a joke.
I feel like I'm being mean, so I'll say that I'm glad a lot of others are liking the shirt and the art itself is very well done.
This is awesome and when i saw it on the email I wanted it, but sadly I've been told that fiancée will not go out with me if i have it on.Love the side art though
Don't get me wrong, I get it, I think it is humourous, looks good.
However, the first thing that I thought of when I saw it was 'Che Football Club", I think this is because of the space between Che and FC. Perhaps this is just the Anglophile in me talking....
This is such a great design, everything I wish for in a tee:funny, smart, very well executed and I love how the color of the tee works so well with the actual design!
Being a poor student I'd have to think about it some more, but I hope I'll be back.

"when it first came out"
LOL, the design has been floating around since 1967. You're obviously a pioneer of the Cuban Revolution and it's ideas/imagery.
"All mall Che shirts are meaningless capitalist products"
This is gold. The mall shirts are "meaningless, capitalist products" but the shirt you bought at Red Zone/Hot Topic isn't?
"This shirt has balls and brains and respect and no respect and I look forward to wearing it."
Not only do you contradict yourself in your own sentence, your entire sentence makes no sense at all. This shirt makes a weak connection between the irony of a Marxist revolutionary being a popular shirt design in a capitalist market by combining it with an obvious figure of commercialism. The irony in people wearing Che shirts is ridiculous, you guys realize that your purchase of a shirt completely contradicts the ideas of the person being depicted in the shirt itself (this idea applies to "mall shirts" not this specific parody piece).
And to everyone who thinks it's pronounced "chay": it's not. It's pronounced "cheh". This isn't a minimal pair unless you pronounce it with the most ignorant "white person"* accent. One of the jokes this shirt presents is the mispronunciation of Che's name being a M.P. rhyme with the "K" from KFC.
I believe that I have presented myself in a calm and collected matter, expressing my views on today's shirt. This message should not be moderated and if it is, it will most definitely be censorship of ideas. I know your site has the right to this but only filtering positive comments is a spineless business maneuver and I hope that isn't the case with this site's comment section. I, and other people I hope, would more regularly visit sites that allow us to express ourselves openly, without fear of the "banhammer" only because we disagree with the product and what it represents. You guys should listen to both positive and negative comments and use them to grow as a community. Unless the comment is obvious trolling, let it be. Don't be afraid of your community.
*"white person" - here I am referring to the "white person" persona portrayed on T.V. now a days, specifically Chapelle's Show. I, in no way, shape or form, meant this as a bash towards Anglo-Saxons but only as a way to convey a specific idea which I could not present in any other fashion.
I knew it! hehe nice one, I saw this on Forums and I thought "this one is happening", and here it is! Congrats Sumrow!
Oh yes, can you smell the pancakes?? 8D
This shirt is a true homage to the marketing of the revolution. If Che were alive today, he'd be trying to kill the Norteamericano opressors with Double Downs, anyway.
I passed on the Bobba Fett / Mario Bros Mash-Up specifically because I knew this one was coming today...
Its Pure Awesome!
Thanks to TeeFury Sneak Preview email as well. Already happened once where I bought a shirt and then 2 days later had to pass on a much more awesome shirt.
Deep and humble thanks to everyone. My buddy Steve and I would like to thank you. We struggled with this idea. Capitalism vs socialism... yin & yang. Good vs evil. It's really all just two sides of the same coin. The constructive conversation going on is more than anyone could hope for. It is good. This is just ink on a shirt. Everyone sees in it what they want. The shirt you wear, and what you believe it means, is just a mirror.
A reporter once asked Che at the UN - "Do you believe in communism?"
Che said - "I believe in humanity."
Humanity once asked Capitalism - "Do you believe in Capitalism?"
Capitalism said - "I believe you can go to my profile and click a link to buy a Buddha Bot print."

The original photograph, "Guerrillero Heroico" was manipulated in order to create a "viral" means to spread what Ernesto represented. Jim Fitzpatrick succeeded beyond anyone's expectations....but because of the constant parodies, the viral art has become a joke. No one respects what it means anymore. This, to me, is capitalism winning the war. They managed to not only stimulate the economy with the image of one of their greatest and most admirable foes but at the same time destroy everything it represents.
Seeing people, so carelessly, throw around something with such profound meaning makes me loathe. All the people who died trying to make a difference, all the families that went hungry so the revolutionaries had enough strength to keep marching the next day....all this and more become meaningless notions now. Can't express how much I hate the Che trend but that's neither here nor there.
Thank you for sharing your work with us, I can at least say that the workmanship is good.

i remember the side art of the guy who did the different spock faces had a side art that was very similar to this main one, but as a drag queen instead. all of this is wonderful - well done and congrats
Sweet design. A nice play on the Che poster/T I see everywhere. Mr. Ohmz and the light robot are amazing, also! I would totally buy either/both of them.
I love the overthinking the front of this site brings.
Makes for some great reading.
Thank you for the link to the buddha bot.

Hey. ekiechi.
I read your teefury profile.
Most recently today.
I love it when people actually have one. :o)
One day I'd love to see Teevil talk about it
on one of the opening notes!
Why, one of my best online friends came from
someone sending me a note in an email from that. Very cool.
Anyway, there is a GREAT book that I think you would get a really good kick out of and you can get it at a pretty decent price. Hit me up off of one of the spots on my teefury profile.
It's about drawing. I'll tell ya about it. (Don't want to put a link up here to detract from todays Rawrsomeness)
Oh man I couldn't have said it better myself. This shirt is so awesome and so sad at the same time. What would Che think? I would buy it, but I made a pact with myself to not purchase anything with revolutionaries on it unless they are handmade. Way to go on the idea, it is hilarious and well executed. Going to find that robot shirt, pronto.

Are you seriously denouncing intellectualism? Seriously? It's sad that a large percentage of the USA's population thinks like this person, preferring to put down any debate because they can't contribute to the discussion. Keep your indirect insults to yourself.
Yep. It's like Fight Cub. The first rule of Pancake Club is, you don't talk about Pancake Club. (WinterArtwork's eyes get wide... takes notes... starts designing "Pancake Club" shirt...) ;0)

Go snoop in the Forums. Such as the "Put your Submissions Here" or whatever. The Artist said the Z is for Zombie design has been accepted and to look for it soon!!! YAY!
Kudos Sumrow! I wish I were still in college so that I could wear it and walk around the halls of the humanities building and show it off in front of the "Chardonitas".
Awesome design, man! Just ordered one for me and one for my brother as an early Christmas present! Can't believe this isn't more popular and that more people don't have a decent sense of humour. Oh well. Keep on truckin'!
Tell us about this design:

Did capitalism win?! Is Ernesto "Che" Guevara still skulking around and trying to bring The Man down from the inside!? Is it a Right wing shirt? Is it a Left wing shirt? NO! It's a Hot Wings shirt!

They are both responsible for the deaths of thousands. That's similar.

Are you seriously denouncing intellectualism? Seriously? It's sad that a large percentage of the USA's population thinks like this person, preferring to put down any debate because they can't contribute to the discussion. Keep your indirect insults to yourself.

What Che stood for and what Che stands for now are two different things. And actually, KFC has probably killed more imperialist pigs than Che did.

Pancakes are awarded once a shirt sells a certain (mystery) amount. It's just a way of showing off how popular the design is!

You can borrow books for free at a library you know. The least you can do is Google his Smurfing name. Be resourceful.
