Tell us about this design:
This design was inspired by my love for meat, but more than anything - King Curtis - a little kid that was on the show Wife Swap arguing about how bacon was good for him. The episode is full of some great quotes - just take a look on YouTube.
Tell us about yourself:
My name is Jamie. I'm 26 years old and live with my soon to be wife McKenzie and our cat. I love cheesy B movies, old ads and well designed packaging. I design and hand print posters out of my state-of-the-art garage studio when I have free time. I really don't print any particular subject - mostly just random ideas I think are funny or or interesting. I started my site a little over a year ago to sell prints online, it's hit or miss, but I've gotten a few designs picked up as shirts and its been pretty fun so far. I hope someday to do it on a more regular basis.
What do you do for a living?
I'm a graphic designer for Rubbermaid - mostly packaging design. We've really got a great team full of people - and I actually enjoy my job! It's still cool to see something I've worked on out at the store.
Do you love bacon?
Of course.
Why do you think bacon is some sort of odd internet meme like mustaches and beards?
For one thing, bacon is tasty, its savory and crunchy all at the same time - that's got to be worth something. I think there has been surge of bacon flavor/scented products recently. People are trying to make everything taste and smell like bacon. I'm glad people are hard at work on bacon technology - but it's more of a novelty. On the other hand I don't think beards and mustaches are going away - there's a HUGE beard following (which is awesome). The lone stash has a ways to go, but beards are growing strong.
If you could go only to one restaurant for the next five years, which would it be?
While I hadn't been there for a while - we did frequent one in college. Jack in the Box - mainly because they have EVERYTHING! They've got the standard fare - burgers, fries, chicken sandwiches, nuggets... then you throw tacos in the mix - breakfast all day... jalapeno poppers....pumpkin pie shakes. Why not?
What do you like to do for fun?
I play hockey, print/design things, hang out with friends.
Have you ever had to get stitches? Any battle scars?
Only twice - once playing hockey I was cut by another players skate on the wrist. Another time I snagged my hand on a chain link fence and cut it pretty bad. I took off a good bit of my fingertip last week cutting out my wedding invites - I don't think they could have done anything about that though....
What's your art process like, from initial sketch to finished product?
If I get an idea I'll usually jot it down (even if its a just a couple of words) so I don't forget it. I don't keep a sketch book - but I do have tons of these little note pads with random ideas. Then I usually do a couple of extremely rough sketches more to work out the layout/composition. Depending on what it is (hand drawn vs computer) I'll either draw and scan in or work in Adobe Illustrator or sometimes sketch then re-draw in Illustrator. That usually goes through a few revisions - I might show it to a few friends to get their opinion. If it's printed, I would usually have the paper selected already, make the screens, get ink/colors sorted out and
print away.
MAC or PC?
PC - I know them better, they're cheap to build. I use a PC at home - however I work on a Mac all day.
Any shout outs?
Shout out to my boy Pampers, Heavy-Duty, Heavy-Cream, Dimetapp, Pepper Jack and Jared. (They're all people in my imaginary gang.)

Especially don't want to offend any non-bacon eaters.
The quote seems like it was pretty funny even out of context, but I can't stand Wife Swap.

Oh, please! I'm so tired of all of this "I don't want to offend anyone" smurf.
Pretty soon you'll not be able to wipe your own butt because it might offend the paper-loving tree-huggers.
