Where are you located?I live on the beautiful Gold Coast in the state of Queensland, Australia. Great beaches and lifestyle.
What's a day in the life of Troy like? What do you do for a living?I am a lecturer for a private design college here on the Gold Coast. I love my students and seeing them grow and develop as young creatives. I prefer to consider myself as a mentor to them rather than a traditional lecturer. I am also a partner in a freelance design studio called Kreatory with two of my best friends. Working for the studio keeps me in the game so my teaching remains relevant and current. I've also been married for the past 3 years to my beautiful wife and when I am not teaching or designing for the studio I love to spend QT with her.
Do you own alot of shirts? If so, what's your favorite?Yep. My wife will testify that I own a lot of tees. I love to purchase tees online because they are often more unique and 'me' than the ones you get in the store. I love lots of the tees I own but my favorite at the moment is one I purchased recently from the great designers at dkng studios called 'Owl'. http://www.dkngstudios.com/store/mens-apparel/
What inspires you?I'll be honest, I am inspired by other designers daily. I love to check out design inspiration sites like behance and abduzeedo because I am so motivated by what I see, even in creative disciplines that I do not usually work within like product deign. I am also often inspired by my students especially when the advice we give clicks and they start to believe and trust in their own abilities as a designer.
What do you like to do for fun?I design for fun – sad but true. If I could I would design 24hrs a day. At the moment I am working on a couple of business ideas that I am really excited about. I am keen to start working on more self initiated projects and pull back on the client work so that I can concentrate on making them happen sooner. I have also recently purchased my first home so I am pretty occupied with finishing this and I love to invite friends over for a traditional Aussie BBQ.
How did you get your start in art?Art seemed to come naturally to me at school. While I did quite well in other subjects I had to work hard for my grades. I knew pretty early that I wanted to find a creative career and after visiting a few college open days Graphic Design seemed to be the best option to achieving this. I've never looked back since.
What was your first printed commercial piece of artwork?Amazingly my first printed commercial piece of artwork was for an art gallery. I must have been in the right place at the right time. The art gallery was built in a heritage listed building but everything on the inside was completely new and beautifully done. I got to design the logo, signage, stationery and brochure. It was also the first time I had to present my concepts to a board of about 20 people... scary!How did that feel?Scary at first but fantastic once it was all approved. I remember I could not wait to show all my friends. The exhibitions held in the gallery were small but fantastic!What would the you of now, tell the you of 10 years ago?This is an easy one – listen to my typography lecturer at university. I was a bit young and ignorant at the time and thought type was not important but since completing my Degree I have come to appreciate typography as one of if not the most significant aspects that separates Graphic Designers from other forms of art. In saying this, it is never too late to change your attitude and make something that was once insignificant to you a passion.
MAC or PC?Definitely Mac. They are beautiful to work on and continue to amaze me with each new release.
Recommend a product:iPhone. If you don't have one yet you should seriously consider getting one as it will change your life :) Also, if you like to read motivational books I recently purchased "Making Ideas Happen" by the same guy that started the Behance network – this is an amazing read and all creatives should read it.

We've had several TeeFury shirts that were printed (in part) because they got a lot of positive comments as side art. It doesn't happen every day, but it does happen :)
