I am so buying this. The only thing I dislike is that on the guy's shirt it looks like the heart is broken because of the black. On the girls, you can see its a bit different.
It's cute.
At least all the websites listed as inspiration are actually linked to now, and I don't have to copy/paste them into my address bar. Only took a month to get that right. ;)
Hello everyone - thanks for the kind words - a few clarificaiton points
1. This design is NOT the design the first 500 orders are getting - the first 500 orders are getting the bird logo only center chest.
2. Yes the mens tee shows a broken grey dead heart and the womens tee shows whole heart full of love and yearning.
So possibly the image to the right can be interpreted as if the female left the nest and left the sad grey male heartbroken and took his heart and trampled it under her feet - however she still feels love for him, but is not IN love with him. I am going to cry now.
True that, 2thFairy. I've shed a tear for you, Layne, as you've obviously been hurt recently.
Congrats on 30 wonderful days. We at Shirts on Sale can't wait to see what the next 30 will bring (and the next 30...and the next 30...and the -- you get the idea).
And we know the tweetey with the red heart is a female...how?
Because all tweeteys with red hearts are female. Plus lets face it, typically the female is the guilty party in these transactions (bracing myself for backlash).
And for the rest of you - may you fill up your world right up:
Hey Layne,
Congratulations on your first 30 days. Your enthusiasm for your work here rings true and that's a wonderful thing to see.
Now for the hard stuff: you KNOW you've got to satiate your international clients. Has there been any progress? Even an update for us would help.
Keep up the great work!
BTW, I love your design. Would be in like flint were it not for the 49th parallel.
I hear you - I have to say you are glad we did not open with international shipping - FedEx really did a number on our shipping integration, and as some very kind and patient people here will tell you our first 3 weeks of shipping were a real challenge due to two huge bugs in the FedEx Shipping Software (dropped the first digit in an order number and transposed billing street address over shipping street address).
So you asked for an update and here is where we are right now are FedEx International Mail (FIMS) which we can do for around $5 but it takes FOREVER or USPS International - which is REALLY expensive - around $20-$25.
Because this site works on a one Tee per day we are trying to figure out how to best ship out international orders and save the intl. folks a little money - Lets say you buy 5 shirts in a row - one a day Monday thru Friday - it would be really cool if we could just bundle those together and ship them out in one package as opposed to charging shipping for 5 seperate transactions. So this is exactly where we are right now - if everyone says go forward anyway with daily international shipping then we can move forward and have that in place by the end of next week - so let us know what you prefer and we will do it!
Huge appreciation for the reply and I hope I didn't rain on your celebratory parade. Please see it more as a compliment that your product is hot enough that so many of us want to get our anxious little foreign hands on them.
First of all I'm fine with doing the daily FIMS if it means getting things underway. Woot tends to take around 2-3 weeks at most. At the same time I sense a real resistance to FIMS and if, in the long-run, there's a better way, it might be worth the wait.
From all of our research - FIMS is the cheapest way to get a package overseas - literally around $5 and we can ship to anywhere - most major cities in the UK, France, most of Europe, many spots in Latin America should get their orders withing 2-3 weeks - however FIMS can take 5 weeks - which is a heck of a long time to wait - but really unless someone can point out something we are not seeing, then we most likely have to go with FIMS and USPS for the faster shipping option.
Layne, I'll echo curb's sentiments. If using daily FIMS would hurt long term solutions, it's probably better to wait. I realize you just want what's best. If it's possible to use daily FIMS now without tying up a future shipping system, then go for it. Otherwise... I can be patient. I think.
Not sure where curb lives, but woot's shipping takes 3-4 weeks for me (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada).
"So possibly the image to the right can be interpreted as if the female left the nest and left the sad grey male heartbroken and took his heart and trampled it under her feet - however she still feels love for him, but is not IN love with him. I am going to cry now."
congrats on the first month, it would have been nice to pick this one up. I suspect that you're loosing a lot of sale without international shipping. You better do something good for us internationals when you do get it up and running!! or else.. .. ..
yeah except I'm pretty sure this is the only time we'll see this tee since it seems like each month will be a different design. I dunno for sure though!
gambit's correct - our current plan is to provide a new teefury design once a month, each one will be unique in one way or another, either by colorway, or by theming out the bird in some way.
For example, on september 19th we have Talk Like a Pirate Day, so we may offer a TF bird with an eye patch or a swash buckling sword or even a peg leg - you just never know ;) Of course if anyone has any ideas you can always shoot us an email or thought about what you would like to see ;)
Man, this design is awesome. I had been wanting a teefury shirt so bad. Can't wait to see new ones each month! I ordered it, although, I haven't got the first shirt I ordered yet, because I did the $2 shipping, so hopefully the smalls will work!
I would really love to see these shirts with numbers like 14/150 or something on the back or tags. That makes having a limited edition shirt way more interesting!
What if instead of forcing the checkout right away, an international user could "reserve" a shirt. They do this for as long as they want, over a week for instance. Then when they want them to ship they all ship the same time so they only pay once for shipping. If they want a shirt to ship sooner, they can just checkout that one shirt. Just make them committed to buy the shirt once it's reserved via a disclaimer. Sounds confusing, but it could work :/
@Layne: I do a lot of international t-shirt shipping and USPS Priority International runs about $9-$12 to most places in the world and takes about 4-10 days to get there. USPS also gives free packaging for this option.
There's also USPS First Class International which usually stays around the $9 (except for Canada and Mexico which is only like $3 for one t-shirt). First Class International takes a bit longer 2-3 weeks and on the odd time a week or so more.
The $20+ rates from USPS are for the Express Mail with guaranteed 2-5 day delivery I think.
Does the FedEx FIMS for $5 come with tracking? Can you drop me an email with info on how to get that rate?
Rodney - Thanks for the update I need to explore more on the USPS - FIMS does not include tracking which is a nightmare, because once the package leaves the states its gone - you can track up the point it leaves the country, so I would be able to track the package from when it leaves us in California and then again when the package hits the east coast, but beyond the east coast the package is in a black hole.
Great first month! From the looks of things it will be just the first of many.
Cool shirt - you can't go wrong with a clean design in black, white, and gray (or red).
I'm glad to hear about the themed logo shirts because 12 logo shirts a year could get old, quickly. Any chance we could get some TeeFury All-Stars to design the logo t's? I bet Jimiyo, Wotto, RikkiB, Alex Fuentes, etc. could give us some cool stuff if they were given the chance to put their own spin on the dead bird.
This is a really nice logo. It makes for a sharp tee, and adds a lot of class and simplicity to the website. Here's to many more months and continued success.
OMG I just got off work and there was a shirt waiting for me! Its washing right now and about to go in the dryer...This is to be 100% sure what size I need...I hope it gets done before it sells out!
Wow, that smurfs. I went to place an order, was told my three-digit security code was wrong (input error), went back to update my information, tried to place the order again, but was told that I had already placed an order even though I was just told that my first order attempt failed.
Layne: Could you let me know if my order went through or not? If it didn't, could you please shoehorn an order for me for a male XXL?
Congrats on the 30 days - great work!
As for the shipping; I'm in Canada and I order from DBH often. They have the option of having a different country/address for the shipping and billing. I've tried having the shirts shipped to me in Canada and for some reason, it takes at least a couple of weeks and costs quite a bit more than to the US, whereas having them shipped to a US address (border store less than 1 hour from here), it only takes a few days.
So, what I would like to see as well as international shipping, is the option of billing it to my Canadian address but having it shipped to a US address. Please :)
