A word form the author

As many of you have guessed, this design is just a part of "movie quotes" series and was primarily intended for use on button pins. Have a look at the sideart and see for yourself.

The idea was simple: famous movie quotes paired with famous movie characters, rendered as minimalistic (playmobil or lego-style) icons. As simple as that. I'm very aware of recent trends in t-shirt design and, yes, this one definitely doesn't fit in - neither in concept nor execution. Is it good or bad – well, you decide.

Anyway, I do appreciate all your comments – even constructive negative ones – and will take them into consideration in my next projects. Thanks a lot, everybody.

As for the buttons - this and other designs from "Movie Quotes" series are available in my e shop.

It makes sense in a collection of buttons, but to take one of them randomly to put on a shirt just seems a little odd. It seems misplaced on its own. It also bothers me that the design was made for a button, not a t-shirt.
Having said that, I do like the collection as a whole. The designs look good as buttons!

I really think you could have been more clever in the way your illustration plays with the type. There are thousands of ways you could have made the type reflect each particular movie.

Ex. the Star Wars one could have been outline yellow and at the far-off perspective from the openings.

Great idea, but it needs to be flushed out more. Would be willing to collab.

Thinking this would be instantly much better with a different quote from the movie on it; there are soooo many great ones to choose from... This one does epitomize the film but for the most part I think Lebowski fans (if anything like me) tend to enjoy the off-humor stuff more.

Maybe if I saw the movie it would be worth it. On it's own, just doesn't grab me. Even the ideas for the movies I have seen look better as buttons than t-shirts.

Tell us about yourself:
Hmm, how much spacetime do you have? Seriously, I've always managed to avoid that question by cracking wise. I still can't summarize myself properly in a few lines. Let's just say I'm a graphic designer, a photographer and an artist – not necessarily in that order.

Where are you located?
Prague, Czech Republic, but I don't think it influences my work directly.

What do you want Teefury fans to know?
Bitching time! After 15+ good years with Macromedia FreeHand I involuntarily switched to Adobe Illustrator. My new Intel-based iMac decided for me and simply refused to run FreeHand. I had to act quickly - stop whining, consider it a blessing in disguise and bite the bullet. After six months it's still a hard fight between me and the application but I hope I'm making some progress. That's it, thanks for listening! :)

If you could go only to one restaurant for the next five years, which would it be?
I don't eat out that much. I work from home and I've been committed to my wife's cuisine, fine tuned just for me over many years. Hopefully she'll open a small eatery one day and I'll be taken care of for good.

How did you get your start in art?
Can't tell exactly. There was definitely no deciding moment. I always liked to draw but my parents preferred seeing me doing some "useful" stuff. So, I studied physics and architecture mainly to satisfy them but nevertheless ended up in graphic design.

What are your favorite top three movies?
That's an easy question: Big Lebowski, Brazil, Blade Runner.

Got any other art projects based on other movies in the future?
I'm still pretty immersed in the "Movie Quotes" project. I would like to make some limited edition tees and screen prints. Let's see how it develops.
