Words from the curator:
I love the sense of movement and depth in this piece by Teefury alumni Brian Luong! It also stirs up my lingering fear of barn owls, but that's another story...
Tell us about this design.
This design depicts a flock of owls flying among a vortex of air. Are the owls creating the vortex or are the owls trapped inside? You pick.
Your last design with Teefury was "Flutter", a shirt involving a flurry of bats. Do you enjoy illustrating winged animals? What's your favorite animal to draw?
Animals in general are fun to draw. Octopi are probably one of my favorite critters to draw. Out of all the animals I've drawn only once in the past, I still find myself going back and drawing octopi every once in awhile.
What is your favorite illustration you've created to date?
That's a tough one. As of late, my favorite would be an illustration titled "Artifacts" (it's the blue one in the side art), but of course I have other favorites as well. I've recently picked up digital painting, and a number of my favorite illustrations I've done so far fall into that category. I have yet to create a dedicated portfolio for my digital paintings, but some of them are posted (along with many of my other illustrations) on my blog: http://artofbrianluong.blogspot.com/
Do you usually listen to music while you draw? If so, what?
Yes I do! I feel weird when I draw in complete silence, so I tend to always have music playing. Some of the bands I listen to are Four Year Strong, Circa Survived, Minus The Bear, The Album Leaf, Bonobo, and Parkway Drive. It's a pretty diverse list of music.
Name five objects around you at this moment.
hmmm... a ninocat stuffed animal my friend made me for my birthday, my Wacom tablet, a pair of scissors, various pictures I hang around my desk for inspiration, and a wind-up T-rex robot!
