TeeFury is a place where you will find amazing tees at amazing prices (and occasionally other non-tee things). It's pretty simple - one new SUPER LIMITED-EDITION tee every 24 hours for $9.
Hm. If I didn't read the title I'm not sure I would get that it's a "paper scissors rock" reference. Especially since it's not in that order. Plus, I'm not sure what Japanese has anything to do with the game, unless you live in Japan or speak the language. Maybe it originated there or something?
Really nice design, kind of threatening for RPS but I like it. I also like the side art, that first one could totally pass for a Frank Frazetta (I mean that as a compliment) and I LOVE the Shaggy one! Hee hee! Nice work.
ZooLoo, as we've said before, the TeeFury $9 screenprinted version is limited edition. But we're an artist-friendly company, so we let artists keep the rights to their designs. Sometimes that means that the artists choose to use that work on a site like CafePress or RedBubble- where shirts are printed DTG and cost 3x as much.
Our quality and price make us the best source for these excellent designs, but we're happy to see artists still able to profit from their work after their 24 hours at TeeFury is over :)

Most designs that have been printed on Teefury are available at Red Bubble. The point of difference is that Red Bubble is direct to garment (DTG) digital printing & Teefury is traditional screen printing. Teefury's prints are a 1/3 the price but with far superior print quality & durability.
@zooloo this has been explained several times. limited edition refers to teefury's printing which is a different and higher quality technique than redbubble & many other shirt sites... The artists retain the rights of their artwork, & therefore own rights to print their artwork elsewhere.

So... Are you leaving, or are you going to continue to try and make a "point" where there are none to be made.
If I was a habitual player of rock paper scissors, I'd get this, but alas, I am not. I love the Bettie Page-ish woman, and I'd totally buy Shaggy. Who knew he could be so sexy?
Love the concept! Love the style of drawing! Here's the constructive criticism: 1. The illustrations should be in the same order in which everyone says the name of the game: rock, paper scissors. 2. The Japanese wording is irrelevant and unnecessary, thus it shouldn't be there. If those changes were made it would be even cooler than it already is.
Ok, so the Japanese wording is not irrelevant, but I still think it would be better without any wording at all. Plus, why do it in Japanese> Why not English - "Rock, Paper, Scissors"?
I deleted the comment on the negative comments i was going to post for you are good calm examples. I'm sorry I snapped, been bumping into that type to often in real life.
So I am curious about the silk screen printing. I am comparing teefury shirts with the woot shirt I got. what I am noticing is that the paint/print of Teefury goes further into the material while the woot one is the kind that gets all crackly and flaky over time unless I'm extra careful with drying them (hang dry). I've also seen shirts that are like a shiney sticker thats been glued on. The woot shirt is a heavier material and the seams on both shirts are well done. The feel is also differnt the teefury shirt is soft all over while the other you can tell where it was printed on.
while I know it's a machine doing the printing I always think of the silk screen I played with as a child where you cut out paper shapes put them on the screen and smooth paint over the top let dry and then add another layer.
じゃんけん is right.
For those asking, Janken is the name of rock paper scissors. If you hear it played it will go, "Janken...PON!" With the Pon coming as the open their hands. My Kids add a "Achi mite hoi!" and point their fingers trying to get the opponent to look in the direction indicated. I don't understand this bit.
Does the paper-rock-scissors order of the illustration have anything to do with the Japanese name for the game, or was it simply an aesthetic choice? Aesthetically I prefer it; I like the symmetry.
The text is what's holding me back from an instant buy... without the text I'd have already purchased it. I may still, but I'm sleeping on it first. The artist comment about the shirt being for those who don't think RPS is "just a game" throws me a little -- personally I think the text makes the image a little... softer, I guess, less serious, more game-like. I think the hands alone would have looked harder, much more aggressive. I'm interested in the artist's thought process specifically regarding the inclusion of the text.
I have no problem at all with the artists retaining their rights to their artwork and to reprint. In fact I'd have a problem if they didn't! But I must admit, the way I have always interpreted TeeFury's policy was that it was a right to "RE print." The implication being that it was first printed by TeeFury and may later be printed elsewhere. Not a crucial difference, but definitely a significant one. I believe that part of what appeals to people about TeeFury is that the shirt they're buying is a "new" design. Maybe this distinction should be a little clearer to potential TeeFury customers. Or perhaps on a shirt by shirt basis, point it out if the shirt has been printed elsewhere previously.

To answer your queries, The order was for aesthetic reasons, it gives it a 'pilot wings' shape.
I didn't write the text about RPS being just a game, that was the curator.
Lastly, my reason for the text was purely for design reasons. The text was used to interconnect the three symbols together, and the reason for the Japanese was so it acted more as a design element and not a slogan. I figured the art conveyed the idea enough without having to state the obvious with words.
Awesome design and awesome art!
Hope to see more from him at tee fury soon (please after I receive my first one - I am broke, even for these prices!) LOL!

I don't mind the Japanese wording, it adds a weird touch to it. But you're right about the rock, paper, scissors ordering... although rock in the middle looks awesome - it ruins the reference.

Oh man, that Shaggy sideart is hawt. I would buy a million. Please I beg of you, dear Fury, print it sometime. I guarantee that all nostalgic shirt buyers all grown up will fall in love with this print. Either that, or just make a regular print of it.
That's a cool shirt and all but.. It's sort of plain. I would like it if it had more detail.I LOVE the shaggy one one the side TEEFURY YOU HAVE TO PRINT THIS OR I WILL KILL MY SELF :( Please print....slowly fading awayyyyyy................
Great shirt, will probably be wearing this to PAX this year. The Shaggy side-art is great, probably the only time he's been depicted as being somewhat tough (and Daphne on his arm is GREAT!)
Super_Fly said: i hope it really does say "janken" i'd hate to run into someone who could read Japanese and ask why my shirt says deep fried moose butts
lmfao. I'd much prefer the latter.
I would buy a shirt if I knew it said "Deep Fried Moose Butts" in a language that the general populous cannot read. I'd probably buy my dad one too.
Nice shirt, not for me though. It is sort of plain and young. But the thing that did it for me about the side art was Shaggy's lower abs 'Zoinks' tat. haha!
sorry dude but it's hiragana, since it is native japanese words. get your alphabets straight lol

I love this design. I understood that it was "rock, paper, scissors" regardless of the order. I actually prefer it because it looks symmetrical, like wings. As to the discussion of the text, I don't think the artist wanted us to get hung up on the linguistics. If you've ever taken a Design Course, the instructor will tell tell you to treat a word or phrase as an independent element. I think it pulls the whole design together.
As for the sideart: Please print Shaggy! [Although, at first glance, I thought he was Brandon Boyd, lead singer of Incubus......until I saw the Scooby tattoo. *laughs*]
just a brief announcement my fellow teefurians. I'd like to say that it is the very first shirt i've bought that wasn't part of the grab bags. I love this shirt and everything it stands for. Congratulations to Chris Wahl on his print, a very powerful design my friend.

A word from the curator: This shirt is for those who throw out their hand signs like they're going into battle- Rock Paper Scissors isn't just a game!
About the art: It translates to 'Janken' which is the Japanese equivalent to Rock Paper scissors.
Where are you from? I was born in Murwillumbah, Australia, to an Austrian dad and an Australian mum. Where would you like to be from? Probably from the distant past so I could appreciate all our modern marvels with fresh eyes.
Do you think your life has had a defining moment? If yes, what was it? If no, what would you like it to be? I think my defining moment (apart from getting married and the birth of my son) would be realising I could make a decent living from sitting at home and drawing all day.
What was your favorite thing to draw as a beginning artist? Is it similar or different to what you prefer to draw now? Pretty much the same as now- women, monsters and silly faces...I haven't matured much. In the event of a worldwide zombie outbreak, what role would you take in helping to rebuild society? Drawing would probably be a useless talent, so i'd probably end up being the cook. Gotta keep the survivors well fed and I'm a whiz with a tin of beans. Which do you usually choose, rock, paper or scissors? Paper of course! It's the artist's choice. And despite the cuts you can get from sharp scissors and a jagged rock- nothing hurts more than a paper cut! What do you hope the future will be like? For all your sakes, it better not be a zombie holocaust, because my cooking isn't that great. Describe the perfect sandwich. A good quality bread with sesame seeds and peanut butter. What are some of your favorite internet sites? The Drawing Board- http://www.drawingboard.org Great art and artists and some fun jams.
Zbrush Central- http://www.zbrushcentral.com Been using Zbrush since it's early days, not so much time these days, but it's always amazing to see the advancements they're making in 3d art.
