yes the Nirvana shirt is one of my all time favourites, the only design I have ever done with a (excuse the word) CaptainKirk on it, but you know what, for once it actually ok to do it ya know?
I like it a lot, that being said, I don't like it, I mean I like its sort of nostalgia, but they're kids toys from yesteryear I've grown on, and past them, baby toys and kids toys are nice, but you need to look forward, and plan forward, progress and all that. (not the type you find labeled in corporate commercials but the real bits that claw through)

hello yes I realize this would not be everyones cup of tea so I appreciate your honesty - I personally love to regress into childhood memories because they are the foundation of my creative being ... That's just my take on it
This wasn't fair. I had already bought yesterdays shirt, then this one appears and now I have bought another... All of my money is going to these shirts now!
Mmmm....nostalgic pop culture synthesis. You definitely deserve credit for choosing some items that seem quite a bit more universal and timeless compared to other subjects in many other instances on this site which seem much more narrowly focused.
In addition to the cleverness and originality, I really like the cleanness of your style and the line-work on the "face."

Nice job!
great feedback - yes I tried to keep it universal and plastic only - took a bit of brainstoming but got there in the end
theGRIMACE said: Zomboy, what disk is loaded in the View-Master?
Did they make a disk that lets you see Smurf Village?
now you got me thinking ... I wish I had seen a smurf one considering going to eBay to check it out now! The new smurf movie trailor came out yesterday - bunny with fangs had it featured - exciting!!
even though my husband counted my tshirts and discovered i have around 50, and even though he mentioned something about me not buying any more shirts this year, I HAD to buy this one. It's perfect!! Have been considering a robot tattoo for months now...may use this as inspiration

lol - yup know the feeling - tees are a total addiction!
voiceofavenger said: I'm an etch-a-sketch artist and am sooooo tempted (www.deborahsalebutler.com). Hmmm. I'll sleep on it.
Fantastic etch-a-sketch pieces. You're also a voice actor! It's what I've wanted to do, but have no clue on how to get into the field.
Back to the shirt again, this brings back a lot of fond childhood memories for me. They are toys that will always entertain, no matter the age of the person.
If the male shirt came in the blue shade that's available for women, then I'd buy this without a moment of hesitation. I really like it, much like I really liked yesterday's unicorn shirt, but I need to show a slight form of restraint over the next couple of weeks. Nice design and idea though!
Fun robot made out of awesome childhood toys. This is a sweet design. Clean, simple, bright and creative. Great job.
The clothesline reminds me of faded childhood memories. I like the thinking man bonzai tree as well
Ok, came back today and bought a 2nd shirt for my bro back in Canada. That kid went everywhere with his Galaxy Grabber for 2 years, so I just had to do it.
Ah, this is so fun! All of the side art is great, and I would love to see Dandylion Flight and many other of your design as shirts, here, too :). I went nuts when I saw your redbub portfolio! I am going to sate my love for a bunch of your designs in a wallet-friendly way by getting them as stickers, for now :). My mandolin case always gets happier when I put new stickers on it, and then I play better as well :D. Thanks ZOMBOY! Thanks, TEE FURY!
The Rubik's cube on the shirt had a corner that was yellow, red, and white. The yellow and white faces on a traditional Rubik's cube are opposites; they don't share a single corner, so the cube on the shirt is incorrect.
I guess i am a nerd for noticing that. *sigh* Oh well.

thanks so much very generous of you to say ... I have worked really hard over the last two years to try and understand and create within the t-shirt world - this really is an art form and I wish sometimes people would give it more credit. I saw one person here say once to strive to do more than just t- shirts and the immediate thought that sprung to mind is "why? Tees are so KHAAAAAAAN cool - I can quite comfortably say I will be doing this for a long long time to come!! Thanks again

Sure thing :). I'm glad you're making great tees. Yours are so much fun! I agree if you want to do tees, there's no reason for doing it another way. Expressing art is meant to make our and others' souls joyul and not to tax. Keep up the good work!

A word from the curator: Childhood is like a robot. By which I mean it's awesome.
Tell us the background of this design. I was watching an episode of Futurama and was admiring Benders retro like design and thought to myself that part of his head looks kind of like a View Master. I thought it would look cool to build a robot made of a mash of some of the great retro toys and the rest just flowed from there. Rubix cube for neck, etch-a-sketch for body, stacking rings for legs and my personal favourite, the galaxy grabber arms.
Where are you from? My younger years were spent in New Zealand, now live in Melbourne - Australia. Melbourne is an awesome city, great bars, cafes. Cultural centre of Australia.
What do you want TeeFury fans to know about you?
That I have a collection of approx 300 smurf figurines
What do you absolutely not want them to find out?
That I have been hanging out for the Smurfs movie to come out for years now and it keeps getting delayed and it's doing my head in - I'm obsessed/possessed by Peyo's creation!! pathetic, I know.
Name a few of your favorite things. smurfs ice cream my cat Bazil
What are your feelings about classic movies? They are quite fascinating to watch - if anything it is simply because they are so different to what you see now, different hair styles, cars, clothes, speech, film stock quality, sound quality. Some of Hitchcock's movies blow me away. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NG3-GlvKPcg&feature=browch
Would you rather visit the moon, another solar system, or another universe?
The movie Contact instantly sprung to mind when I read this question, so I will go with another universe. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Contact_(film) Carebear vs. My Little Pony: who would win the battle? hmmm that is an interesting question. I never really had much of an affiliation with either. However, I recently downloaded a game for my phone called 'Battle Bears' where you are this bear that takes on all these zombie bears and whimsy type bosses. One level has this giant unicorn boss type thing called the marecraft carrier ... I kicked it's ass, so I am going to say the Carebears all the way!! http://www.battlebears.com/game/
Any shout outs? Yeah I want to shout out to all my fellow t shirt artists out there. I take t-shirt art very seriously because it is walking down our streets all over the world for everyone to see. Do not underestimate the power of a good t-shirt, strive for the best guys!!
