This is a really great design!! I like it a lot, however I can't see myself wearing it. It would make a really cool poster though! Good luck to the artist! It's the best design on here that I've seen in a while.
I have been waiting for this design for AGES.
It's so well done, and, as a proud Atheist, I LOVE the concept.
Maybe mum will go easy on her 'no more tees' rule?
This is far out!! Great job, Mr. Kemble, sir! I'm definitely going to have to put together 11 dollars to buy this baby! It's truly irresistible! I love the artwork. Especially the halftones and how you did the stars. My favorite part of it is the lighting on the hat.
Would be an instabuy, if I didn't have to secure some funds.
After reading fairy_dust_xo's comment, I thought I'd pitch the idea I thought of a while ago. What if there was a poster website that worked like teefury (like posterfury haha). I thought it might work pretty well, considering how I see several posts a day saying that they'd like the design on a poster. I'd have the posters screenprinted, like all good posters should.
Tell me if you'd buy posters if I made this happen.
(just to clarify, I'd have artists submit their work, I wouldn't be stealing art from teefury)
Ohhh man. I promised myself that I would purchase more non-black shirts, as my collection is beginning to look pretty one-sided in that spectrum... but this is too amazing to pass up.
it's awesome! I have too many black shirts already. I might reconsider though because I love space. I really like the top side art too: the one with the girl.
I'm broke and I find wanting this t-shirt offensive.
No, seriously though. I remember how much I wanted this when I saw it as side-art, and I literally spazzed right now when I came here. I think my exact words were "HOLY S**T".
Hm...gas for my car, pay off surgery bills, or this t-shirt...?
You know why I bought this shirt? Of course besides the fact that it's fantastic? Because it has 9 Planets. Kids these days just don't understand. When they see this shirt, they'll be confused. And then we will have to school them in Retro-Science of the 90's.
totallypipe said: i remember this as side art but i don't remember the shirt that was being sold at the time. anyone know? i don't see it in the side art now...
Omg, I think I'm in love! ;O
Even though I'm not the biggest fan of black tees, this one wouldn't work on any other color. KHAAAAAAAN I love this design, might have to buy :( (Poor as &£$¤/%¤#)
Lets get some world cup shirts! Or some BP shirts... There are so many important current events happening, and what better way to express it than on a t-shirt! Add that to the awesome artistry and you have 1 million sales.
ericinabington said: or it could have been this one too. The guy is brilliant!
it must have been this one because i actually remember and bought that one (and remember seeing this print as sideart), if the 3d machine was printed, it was before my time.
I want this so bad.
Bought 6 grab bags the other day, and bought the Mario shirt for my brother.
The clock is ticking.
I'll decide at the last minute.

It's a shame you missed the 3D View-Machine. I love mine and wear it all the time.
It's sooo hot today - I'm wearing the light-colored recent Zelda related shirt today. Have to have this, but I agree on more light-colored shirts for summer.
I really do like it... but I feel like I have enough black shirts to last me a while. That and I recently bought that pug shirt you sold... and of course the lack of an beef (arch-ive) doesn't make me want to buy it either.
KHAAAAAAAN! I really want this shirt but the Teefury black ink socks! Every shirt ive gotten in the past like... 4 months with black, has faded to grey! KHAAAAAAAN!

One thing I have noticed, and unfortunately i think it is somewhat inseparable from t shirt design.... is the ergonomics of BOOBS. I have a big rack , and as much as I would love to buy this shirt, if I were to put it on the ENTIRE hat brim would be eaten by my boob cliff. I love this site, but its not the first time you've missed my business simply becasue basic wearability isn't neccessarily being addressed. I just want to look cool like the rest of the kids.... :-p

Stupid global warming upsetting the weather patterns.....mumble ...mumble...mumble...
I am also putting my request in for the Useless Utility and Historical Superheroes designs. Those are drippin with awesome sauce! Good to see you again, Josh.
The top hat rim looks too be a strange shape. Earth is also weird looking. Wish there were more stars about the shirt as well. With that being said I still love the shirt and pretty sure I have to buy it. I love topics about the universe because people dont seem to address it much but it is bigger than we can barely perceive and completely surrounds us. Just look up...
Coffee aid man is kinda funny. The car wreck man is cool too but I wish he was facing the car plus i dont get the rabbit. The graffiti girl is an instant buy if I see it.
I just took a look and holy WesleyCrusher your portfolio is Spocking amazing
Hahhaha I love the comments to this shirt :D The whole "offended" business. Anyway, upon having begged for this twice in the past, I must fulfill my duty and buy it even though I definitely shouldn't be spending more money. (i'll stop eating or sth :P) Yay for the print! I love the orange glow on the hat :)
Also, I support the want for lighter colors, it's burning here in Baltimore... -_-
I believe I asked for this tee...
Anyways I saw it and had to buy it being a science major and a lover of our stars/universe/planets etc.
Congrats on the print!

I think it's a great idea in theory. The problem with posters is that you lose a lot of the potential for repeat business. Whereas with shirts there is no limit to how many you can rotate, with posters once your wall is full you're done. Having a choice between either buying the shirt or the poster.. now that would be nice.

ahoffenb5086 said: Its not a matter of black shirts fading, its a matter of black ink fading, and yes i wash in cold water with no bleach!
Huh, I think I'm missing something, then. Why would black ink be an issue at all when it comes to this shirt, a black shirt that doesn't have any black ink?
Artist Joshua Kemble presents an alternate theory to the origins of our solar system... now why didn't we think of this sooner?!
Tell us about this design:
Everyone has their versions of origin theory, and I figured the most likely origin, or at least a theory that would hold up next to most out there, is that the universe came out of a giant magicians hat. Problem solved.
What was your process for this design? There seem to be an interesting combination of techniques, from halftones to spatters!
Lets see... I started by inking the planets and top hat with a brush on bristol board, using the brush to do the inking and feathering (I'm an absolute nerd for feathering). Then I took a toothbrush, dipped it in ink, and used that to create a nice spatter effect for the stars, which I then painted over in photoshop. I then colored the image in photoshop, painting over the star splatters using color holds, then used halftones to create oranges, and greens. It was really fun to work on.
Do you know any magic tricks?
I wish I could remember the many I used to know as a kid. I was once able to do lots of rope tricks where you'd like cut a rope, then tie the two cut ends into a knot, then slip off the knot, and it would magically be a solid piece of rope again. I was pretty obsessed with magic tricks as a kid, and would go obsessively to magic stores to pick up books and kits. Now, my only seeming magic tricks are mainly pulling some snazzy tricks on photoshop or with a brush :)
