Really? I think it works well on the mock-ups actually. The stars are dispersed generally in a circular fashion.

This is far out!! Great job, Mr. Kemble, sir! I'm definitely going to have to put together 11 dollars to buy this baby! It's truly irresistible! I love the artwork. Especially the halftones and how you did the stars. My favorite part of it is the lighting on the hat.

Would be an instabuy, if I didn't have to secure some funds.

After reading fairy_dust_xo's comment, I thought I'd pitch the idea I thought of a while ago. What if there was a poster website that worked like teefury (like posterfury haha). I thought it might work pretty well, considering how I see several posts a day saying that they'd like the design on a poster. I'd have the posters screenprinted, like all good posters should.

Tell me if you'd buy posters if I made this happen.
(just to clarify, I'd have artists submit their work, I wouldn't be stealing art from teefury)

I've not had any trouble with fading either. Dud, you gotta turn printed shirts inside-out and wash dark colors in cold water with NO BLEACH (or at least color-safe bleach).

A tip to help your shirts not fade is besides washing in cold water. Wash and DRY (key element) on permanent press. Has done wonders for the life of my t-shirts...:)

One thing I have noticed, and unfortunately i think it is somewhat inseparable from t shirt design.... is the ergonomics of BOOBS. I have a big rack , and as much as I would love to buy this shirt, if I were to put it on the ENTIRE hat brim would be eaten by my boob cliff. I love this site, but its not the first time you've missed my business simply becasue basic wearability isn't neccessarily being addressed. I just want to look cool like the rest of the kids.... :-p

I have noticed that quite a lot of the shirts this summer have been black. Really TeeFury??? Can we get some summer colors here? Granted that the summer temperatures haven't been the warmest yet but hey, a girl can dream can't she? (We had a freeze warning last week in Chubbuckistan.) The top hat rim looks too be a strange shape. Earth is also weird looking. Wish there were more stars about the shirt as well. Hahhaha I love the comments to this shirt :D The whole "offended" business. Anyway, upon having begged for this twice in the past, I must fulfill my duty and buy it even though I definitely shouldn't be spending more money. (i'll stop eating or sth :P) Yay for the print! I think it's a great idea in theory. The problem with posters is that you lose a lot of the potential for repeat business. Whereas with shirts there is no limit to how many you can rotate, with posters once your wall is full you're done. Having a choice between either buying the shirt or the poster.. now that would be nice.

Speaking from experience selling art and prints at Festivals, if you also offered them as greeting card prints you could make even more $$$.

Really? I think it works well on the mock-ups actually. The stars are dispersed generally in a circular fashion.

It just doesn't look natural to me. otherwise i would have considered getting it =/

That sounds... unlikely. How are you washing them? I've never had a black shirt fade at all, and I have black TeeFury shirts dating back to 2008.

I've not had any trouble with fading either. Dud, you gotta turn printed shirts inside-out and wash dark colors in cold water with NO BLEACH (or at least color-safe bleach).

Its not a matter of black shirts fading, its a matter of black ink fading, and yes i wash in cold water with no bleach!

Artist Joshua Kemble presents an alternate theory to the origins of our solar system... now why didn't we think of this sooner?!

Tell us about this design:

Everyone has their versions of origin theory, and I figured the most likely origin, or at least a theory that would hold up next to most out there, is that the universe came out of a giant magicians hat. Problem solved.

What was your process for this design? There seem to be an interesting
combination of techniques, from halftones to spatters!

Lets see... I started by inking the planets and top hat with a brush on bristol board, using the brush to do the inking and feathering (I'm an absolute nerd for feathering). Then I took a toothbrush, dipped it in ink, and used that to create a nice spatter effect for the stars, which I then painted over in photoshop. I then colored the image in photoshop, painting over the star splatters using color holds, then used halftones to create oranges, and greens. It was really fun to work on.

Do you know any magic tricks?

I wish I could remember the many I used to know as a kid. I was once able to do lots of rope tricks where you'd like cut a rope, then tie the two cut ends into a knot, then slip off the knot, and it would magically be a solid piece of rope again. I was pretty obsessed with magic tricks as a kid, and would go obsessively to magic stores to pick up books and kits. Now, my only seeming magic tricks are mainly pulling some snazzy tricks on photoshop or with a brush :)

What's an unusual skill you have?

Daydreaming.
