Well, I've always felt that if kermit went to a doctor, he'd be horrified from the x-ray he'd see.

Is Kermit your favorite muppet? If not, who?

For sure. Kermit and Gonzo. Kermy was just a wonderfully nice, well intentioned, humble guy, that it was hard not to have him as my favorite.

What was your process for creating this piece?

I rendered it in pencil, trying to draw in reverse, so drawing what would be light as dark, and vis-versa. I also looked at quite a few x-rays. I then scanned it in photoshop, and halftoned the pencil lines so it would be screenable.

How do you come up with your ideas?

Usually I have a sketchbook full of ideas, that I'm constantly adding to. However, when I hit on an idea like this one, it makes my day, because most of the time I'm trying to come up with concepts I wind up getting really frustrated and figuratively banging my head against the wall. But when you hit a good concept, as I'm sure you totally know, it's like breathing for the first time. Revelatory really.

Is there a certain time of the day when you're most inspired?

Unfortunately it's a certain time of night, that usually hits around 11pm, and goes into the wee hours of the morning. This can be problematic, because it works counterintuitively to a normal working schedule.

What art projects do you have going on right now?

Currently, I'm working on the last chunk of my graphic novel, Jacob's Apartment, for NBM Publishing, I've been doing a weekly editorial comic with Lawrence Ross for theroot.com called "Vox Africanus," am working on a graphic novel for a client that's sorta top secret (I signed a confidentiality agreement for that), as well as tons of shirt designs, and the weekly freelance illustration gigs. I feel pretty fortunate, because in freelance it's feast and famine, and I'm stoked to have a feast period.
