I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this design! I wish I could go and buy this but my mother said I need to save money for other things :[
I hope this gets printed somewhere else so I can snag it later :]
This is a must buy for me! I usually avoid black but the design wins me over. How many shirts (besides peanuts) reference famous comic strips? Too few!!!
gaaah this is cool but i'm not sure if it's *too* cute for me to get. initially i was all over this but i'm having 2nd thoughts...i'm gonna have to sleep on it
Very cute, I especially love the expression on Hobbes' face, and the fact that the line art is in the same style as the Calvin & Hobbes cartoonist (sorry I don't know his name).

LOVE this shirt! I've been coming to teefury for about a month now and haven't seen anything that I just had to have, but this time was different. I clicked that button so fast I think my mouse started smoking! I got this shirt for my hubby - he adores C&H. Awesome design, thanks!!
Just bought one for my boyfriend who likes orange tigers AND Calvin and Hobbes. He also likes black tshirts, and things are that sewn. And cotton fibers. And hugs. So, really, it was a win win win win win win.
BOUGHT!
I agree with the artists first answer: this does indeed put me in mind of my childhood, enjoying Calvin and Hobbes on lazy Sunday afternoons...
OH MY GOD! My dad and I used to read Calvin and Hobbes before bed every night when I was a kid. He gets one of these, I get one of these. Yessssssss! Father's Day present bought. And random present day for me!
(Also, c'mon, TeeFury, do you have to keep printing such great shirts? I spend way too much money here. The answer to my question is yes, by the way.)
Seriously? Black t-shirt? Summer? Not to mention these aren't exactly the thinnest fabric shirts, either. Great design, but the choice of blank color makes me a sad, sad panda.
I love this. Hobbes' expression is making me all warm inside. As a cat owner, I hope this is how my little guy thinks of me... But, again as a cat owner, black is hard to buy.
Guyz could we please have an rss feed of the new design or a link on twitter for those of us who are not on facebook - because I manually have to remeber to check out the site everyday

This shirt is absolutely adorable... I love how the style of rendition matches the subject matter! But monies are hard to come by so I might have to wait. Even so, the kite side art would be an instant buy.

The color should be medium heather grey, just seems like it would fit the feel of the design better. Love black shirts but branching out can be fun. Btw if Teefury actually gets other colors somehow, not too hot on the orange, but purple would be amazinggg
The Nintendo zombie kid is awesome as well.
Because I am a supporter of Bill Watterson I can't support this design. He has always been very much against marketing his work on shirts, toys, etc, and although this isn't his work, the art is intended to represent his characters which is little difference in my eyes.

I have admired Mr. Watterson's work for many years, and was always impressed that he could do something with his frames and pages; by this, I mean he never limited himself to a 3 frame design; he used the entire page to tell a story, often comedic, and just as often, touching. I imagine Mr. Watterson would support this shirt which references his characters, but is artistic in its own right. Great job, Mr. Snell.

oh my kid would love this, and would be jealous if I got it for myself!! he sleeps with his Baby Tiger every night. :D you should add sizes for the kiddos...
Just found an interesting letter which is very apt for todays shirt: http://www.lettersofnote.com/2010/05/i-will-be-stopping-calvin-and-hobbes.html
Any fans of Calvin and Hobbes should give it a read.
Oh my stars and garters, that is so adorable. Can't figure out whether to get it for my mother or for my daughter. Probably wind up getting one for each :)
OMG, I LOVE Calvin & Hobbes! I grew up reading them in the paper and bought most of the compilation books. And the art style really does remind me of Bill Waterson's style. I am SO picking this up! XD
I think I need this. I adore calvin & hobbes!
And I just want to say, for any n00bs on the fence about the quality of shirt you'll get...teefury, hands down, has the best ladies cut tshirts EVER! I like my shirts kind of longish but flattering fit and buttery soft...Teefury has it!! So to the newbs, don't hesitate, just get one! You'll love it all around! And to TeeFury, don't change a THING about your ladies shirts!!
I've been reading Calvin and Hobbes since before I could understand everything that Calvin spoke of. The stories are great and I still find myself reading all of the books I've acquired over the years. Stories never grow old.
This shirt is AWESOME... if I didn't buy this I'd shoot myself at midnight tomorrow for passing it up
amycreates said: so cute! but as a cat owner, I have to pass--it's BLACK! Cat hair would show up all over me in about 22 seconds.
Wish teefury would let us choose from at least 2 colors.

22 seconds?? Lol. I have an orange tabby and my work clothes are black... Easy solution... Lint roller :). At least for me it'll look like Hobbes pounced me :P
Im always slightly disappointed when I dont see niku posting

i would buy this if teefury werent so KHAAAAAAAN slow to get me the t-shirts. ill be moved out by the time it gets here... which is a shame, cause calvin and hobbes are awesome
o.o i love you...please!! make all of those designs on the side into shirts!! I WILL BUY ALL OF THEM. including this one hopefully(have to find the money first)! :D
Love love love Calvin a Hobbes! Grew up on the stuff! BUT on top of awesome subject and idea, the design is awesome. Definite buy, even though I really don't need another t-shirt ^^
I'm so glad to see you guys got the homage to C&H, instead of a flat rip off. I'm a huge fan of Bill Watterson, not only his artistic style and writing, but his tenacity and devotion to his work. At times I've thought he may have gone overboard, as I would have loved to have anything and everything merchandised from C&H as a kid. But really, I agree with his stance that any of that would have changed the strip. I was really torn about ever printing this design because I did not want to tarnish the image of the boy and his friend. I more than anything wanted to take the idea of the strip, pay tribute to, and add a simple twist that perhaps continued the enchantment of that strip. What if it all happened the other way around? From what I know of Mr. Watterson, I feel like he would've encouraged such imaginings.
Thank you all for your enthusiasm over the design!
I adore this shirt but I have one issue with this (and many printed shirts).
When you are printing on a women's tee, could you please print the design a bit LOWER on the tee especially if the design is mostly horizontal. (It isn't as noticeable with a full front design)
Women's *ahem* anatomy distorts the design when it is that close to the neck and not very low down on the tee. (Which is to say medium to big busted gals can't wear these shirts without the design looking stupid). No disrespect to the teefury model, but she isn't terribly large in the chest and so the tee looks fine on her, but anyone a bit bigger in the chest will start to make it look strange.
I have to think about if I can afford to risk it - I adore the design. I hope you take this into consideration in future printing.

On the contrary, I got the impression that he wanted his work to be shared on a more grass-roots level rather than be corporatized, which is why despite many offers he did not sell out to any company for shirt designs, cartoons, movies, etc... for loads of money, and also why he didn't sue any of the people using Calvin and Hobbes in their own shirt and other products.
I think he would appreciate his characters being used on a site like this - a one day sale of an affordable shirt inspired by something he created and loved by many.
i joined just to comment on this tee - absolutely awesome! started reading c and h back in '88 with "something under the bed is drooling" and never stopped. this will be my 4th TF shirt.
also, my husband is from new mexico - it's amazing how many people don't realize that's part of the US.
Oh, how I wish wish wish I could buy this shirt. It is freaking awesome, and I really love the flip-flop of the characters! I even used to have a Hobbes doll, which made tigers my favorite animal! Lol, it was awesome!
But because of freaking Senior fees at my school, I can't. I hate my school. Hopefully I can snag it in a grab bag or something in the future; here's hoping, I guess. :(
Wow, that is friggin cute. I'm not much of a sentimental guy but the art seriously just made me go "Awwwww". I wonder if the missus like Calvin and Hobbes, if not, I've got at least 3 books she needs to read.
I'm surprised more people aren't commenting on how much it doesn't look like Calvin and Hobbes. I mean, I get the point, I know who it's supposed to be.... but, eh.... love the idea and positition, but doesn't really look like the characters! Still debating on the buy.
Gah, I just started a new job and haven't gotten paid yet. Couldn't you have waited to offer this one until I had the cash to buy it? Love, love, love this design! I'll just have to work the womanly wiles and convince the boyfriend to buy it for me.
@Kaytee3387 - It does look like a real tiger in Bill Waterson's drawing style is cuddling a Calvin doll that is styled just like the Hobbes tiger was. Not a single person's review that I have read failed to understand what it was so, imo, the art is doing a great job of getting the point across. I think you should get it and wear it for me. ^.~
Aw, man. I wish money wasn't so tight right now because I would buy this in a heartbeat for someone I know who LOVED the comic as a child. Too bad for me it didn't show up last week or next week; I just paid rent. Great concept though!
I completely love C&H and this design. Unfortunately, I don't have the money to buy this, so if this design is ever up for sale anywhere else, please let me know! I'll be sure to buy it, and if not, I'll try with the grab bags.
Gus Hound said: Nice to see an unofficial image of Calvin when he's not peeing on a car logo.
Yes...or praying??? Blech.
I understand Mr. Watterson's feelings about merchandising, but I do wish there were some good quality C&H stuff on the market. I'm particularly found of the dancing strip and the smirking Calvin holding a balloon.

Actually, I would have to disagree with you. If the design was lower on the shirt, I think my "chest area" would distort the image much more. I personally like having the design on a part of the shirt that isn't going to be stretched. Just my opinion :)
Oh, and FANTASTIC shirt! I'm super picky about any tees that I buy (since I have soo many already) but I couldn't resist this one!
A word from the curator: I love when a shirt reminds me so strongly of a moment- this shirt makes me remember lazy Sunday afternoons, laying in the sun and reading the comics page.
Tell us the background of this design. I had done a slightly different version for an ...ahem... other tee-shirt site... in which the theme was "alternate history"; it got rejected 'cause it was, strictly speaking, not history. It's one of my favorite designs, as I pretty much memorized every word and image of the comic strip it draws its inspiration from.
Where are you from? I'm currently located in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I've lived in the state all my life, and yes it is a part of the United States.
What do you want TeeFury fans to know about you? I'm the father of three wonderful kids and the husband to a wonderfully supportive wife. I'm in the process of getting a degree in animation, my second next to a degree in advertising art. Being a part of the animation industry has been a dream of mine for a long time.
What do you absolutely not want them to find out? I was the school mascot in high school and spent my after-school activities with a bunch of cheerleaders... wait, my wife's going to be reading this...
Name a few of your favorite things. First and foremost it's my kids. After that, video games, art, and (as she holds a gun to my head) my wife's cooking.
What are your feelings about the comic industry? Given the subject matter of my design, I'm assuming you're referring to comic strips? I think like any entertainment industry, there's always potential for greatness. The method by which it is distributed may change dramatically, but those that are the most talented will rise to the occasion. I will always have a soft spot for Mr. Watterson's creation and what he did for the art form, but I wholeheartedly believe in "anything they could do, we can do better."
Would you rather fight zombies or demons? Goodness, that's a tough one! Well, I guess when it comes to bad guys, the dumber they are, the easier they fall. And I'm real lazy when it comes to battling the undead. So perhaps, the predicability of zombies would give me an advantage I could capitalize on.
TV sitcoms vs. TV dramas: which would win the battle? Well, if sitcoms were likened to Jerry Seinfeld and dramas to Kiefer Sutherland, I'm thinking that dramas would out muscle the comedians. But in the end, they're just too stinking emotional. I'd rather hang out with the sitcom that's gotten the snuff beaten out of 'em and go on to laugh about it than the drama that would probably start postulating about the moral implications of what they have done over and over and over again.
Describe your favorite shirt that you own, and why you like it so much. It's a tie-died shirt I made with the kiddos. We each made one. That's probably the main reason I like it so much, as well as it fits comfortably around my belly. Unfortunately, it's not something I leave the house wearing.
Which is better, gaming, reading, or watching movies? Name your favorite title in your chosen medium. Oy, another tough one. It's really tough to pick just one because every time I play/read/watch something new, that becomes my current favorite. So, not to completely cheat the question; I'm currently playing Master Blaster Overdrive on the Wii, reading the third book in the Wicked series, and one episode away from the end of the first season of Battlestar Galactica.
What inspires your work? Other artists and designers, especially those that have been able to make a significant career out of that which they love. Not only does their work motivate me to improve, but it gives me proof that what I do is more than a hobby.
Any shout outs? I'm way to un-hip to shout out. I think I'd just come across as desperate.

Yes...or praying??? Blech.
I understand Mr. Watterson's feelings about merchandising, but I do wish there were some good quality C&H stuff on the market. I'm particularly found of the dancing strip and the smirking Calvin holding a balloon.

Sadly, I can't get this as I met my teefury shirt quota already. ): It's such a cute idea, too...

YUP! -I bought it, but for my brother.
So I don't feel as bad now :)
