I got my grab bag over the weekend. Two shirts are awesome! One is a repeat but hey, I can always use two of a galaxy far, far away shirt.

I love this design. I love octopuses. SO getting this one for me and the man. GREAT design! The side art is really cool, too. Don't think the whole thing would make a good tee but some of them on one would. I like the purple guy in the middle with the evil grin, wringing it's hands.

But the fish eating one another... FTW on a tee!! Blue design on an orange tee would make Stripey one happy camper.

I love compliments as much as the next gentle man or fair maiden, but am I the only one noticing the rapid jump in praise tonight?

Yeah, I think this design is neat looking, but it's really hard to pick out sincerity when in the first couple of minutes alone everyone is loving it.

(sorta related: I agree with KurtMcAllister saying this'd be a good print but the details might not show well on a grey or gray shirt)

I have literally no criticism about the shirt. I like the depth that the faded tentacles add, and I can appreciate the extreme amount of detail that went into all the swirls.

At the same time, there isn't any specific aspect that makes me want to buy the shirt. It doesn't make me think or laugh or exclaim "WOW!"…t's simply, nice.

In conclusion: nothing bad, nothing enticing a buy.

Love the idea of abstracting the octopus, but i think overall it's just too monotonic. on the computer anyway. It took me a few looks to realize there were still 8 legs, from a distance they dissappear.

That's a really cool design. But, an octopus made of flowers? And people hated on me for saying the last tee was a litter feminine. In all sincerity though, that is some pretty kick ass art this designer has come up with. The side art would make a great poster. Teefury should definitely have posterfury because lots of the designs on this site would be sweet posters.

First of all, I think it is extremely funny that there are so many comments just trying to get free stuff. Now, as far as today's shirt goes, the detail work is wonderful, but I feel it would have been better on a different color shirt. I'm not just saying that because I don't "do" charcoal either. I just think it would "pop" more on a different color. Just my opinion.

The side art has some cute stuff and I really like the angler fish eating the other fish. Definitely would like to see more from this artist.

Yeah I like this. Very intricate and complex. I like how the tentacles in back are a darker color to create the illusion of depth.

Also I like how the shapes create the outline of the whole thing without being straight across and smooth.

And the whole sea creature theme. It looks like it's made out of a million little mollusks and sponges. Pretty cool.

Beautiful. If only the t-shirt were a different colour so that the octopus would pop and stand-out more. Like at least one person said, it would be an excellent print as a poster. Then again, why not just get the shirt and frame it as art?

I have to agree. This is both beautiful and dark.

The side art is pretty kick ass. It would make an awesome poster or desktop background. I especially like the little snake-looking guy in the middle of the angler fish's appendage.

I went to SAIC (The School of the Art Institute of Chicago).

Grande Noodles is up in Rogers Park on Clark. If you like Korean, there is always Noon Hour Grill (6930 N Glenwood Ave.) run entirely by one person..awesome food Korean and/or American Breakfast.

Well this is my first EVER post on TeeFury. I have been anxiously hovering your site everyday for the past month. Day by day i await the next amazing design, but for some unknown reason i never joined. I just watched, as others indulged in the pleasures of posting exciting, hilarious, and sometimes downright fowl posts.

I am both in awe and inspired by todays art. it is a true piece of patience and perfection twisted into one tapestry.

About me:
I am Amanda,and i love Teefury! I have about 10 shirts so far. And I recomend this site to everyone who asks me about my shirts,and those who don't, I feel I should hand out business cards, lol....I'm in college, I am what is called a Super Senior, the technical term mind you. Which means I am a Senior for longer than one year, yes it is going to take me five years but i work full time and go to college full time. Both difficult to do at the same time. I love dogs, they are may favorite animal, any shirt i have seen here with a dog, i buy...lol..But i also love fire, im not a pyro...i just love how you can get GossipGirl in the flames of a fire, the smell of a campfire, and just the physical and emotional warmth it gives me....anyways this is starting to sound like a dating ad,which its not im in a happy relationship and we've been together for 5 years on September 1st...I love you Dana(and yes Dana is a guy...lol)

About Shirt:
Octopus's(not sure if thats the correct term) scare me, in fact anything to do with open water scares me...(perhaps that should have went in the about me....hmmmm) but i think all of the swirls are beautiful...but it is not for me....But this is a very cool concept,but like I said im terrified of open water animals, even fish! dumb i know...perhaps I'll get over it one day and kick myself for not getting this...which I hope I do for desigers sake and mine...lol

Great detail, great colours....only one problem...i'm not keen on octopuses! Not that they have ever done anything to me but..erm..they just a bit freakish! HOWEVER, i do keep coming back to take a look and have looked at this T several times today SO........sod it....BUY!! hahahaha

This is a great design. I went to the New England Aquarium in Boston once, and there was an octopus named Truman. He had lots of heavy things piled on top of his tank and I asked them why they did that. Apparently, when they first got this octopus, he was a bit of a Houdini. At lights out, he would open the top of his tank and crawl into nearby tanks and eat all of the fish. They didn't know where all of their fish were disappearing to for a long time, and finally caught him in the act.

I like Truman and this shirt.

I like the design of today's shirt overall. The idea of the turbulent waves incorporated into the octopus is very appealing. However, I do have one quibble. The way in which the back four legs are in a darker colour makes them look too separate from the rest of the design. I see that it was intended to make the design more three-dimensional, but I don't think it quite worked in this case.

Hello, my name is Carrie.

I like the swirl-patterns design within the octopus. But I feel there is too much of a gray scale going on. It could be just me, but I find it hard to view this design from a distance (even a few steps away). The details aren't as visible as them would be up close.

Overall, it is still an amazing design. I would suggest using a different colour as the background instead of gray. Maybe a darker or bright colour to help bring the design of the octopus stand out more.

I think this is a very good shirt design, but not great.

What I like about this shirt: Octopuses are amazingly beautiful and intelligent animals. The understated color palette is a great, subtle reference to the octopus's camouflage abilities, and the darker coloration on the background tentacles gives depth to the picture while recalling the murkiness of its native habitat. The shape of the octopus seems accurate and recalls the controlled chaos of its movements.

What I don't like: As the artist says in his write-up, "texture is as important as taste," and the texture of an octopus's skin is an important part of its camouflage skills. I think the artist could have gone either with a more faithful rendition of octopus skin, or alternatively, he could have incorporated some of the mystique of octopuses with recognizable ocean waves, undersea life, or even added a human element with ocean ships, etc.

The curator, MJ, says, "it captures the sense of rough seas and an ocean teeming with life," and while I see where s/he's coming from on this point, I simply disagree. To me it comes across as mindless doodles, rather than intentional design.

Overall, though, a great effort, and I would love to see more!

I don't trust Octopi, or any ocean life for that matter. As far as I'm concerned they're all plotting to wipe out the human race, whale's are the generals because they're the biggest and sing the best. On my list of apocalypse fears Oceanic uprising is number two, after zombie apocalypse but before spontanious mass hair combustion. Otherwise an awesome shirt in a "drug fueled misdemeanor" sort of way.

I received my three-tee grab bag the other day, and was quite pleased with the selection. I got the "Rock over scissors and papers" and the "dog brain," along with a pretty jellyfish tee. This was my introduction to TeeFury, so I'm pretty happy with it!

Today's design reminds me of the doodles I put all over my notebooks -- if I did a full-page doodle, then cut out the silhouette, voila! Very cool.

It's not surprising that his shout out is to ms monster, heh!

I do wish this were on a different color shirt...while I love me my asphalt shirts, something to lift this out of the monotone and bring the detail more into focus would have been better, IMO. Still, in for one!

Hmmm.... Well where to begin? As for the shirt, the level of detail is impressive. This design packs a lot of elements into an interesting space (Who doesn't love squids and octopodes?)

Ok so well I probably wouldn't be commenting if it wasn't for the wondrous possibly of FREE STUFF, but this art-work is really awesome. I suppose that the past couple have been a little... meow. Not enough detail, or too pop-art-y.
But hey, it's TeeFury, and I gotta take what comes to me. This, however is awesome. There are so many lines, and whenever I actually look at it closely, it's like looking at clouds: seeing something in all of those abstract lines. Great! octopus...

Hi! First time commenter here - being purchasing since Jan.

Anyway, when I came here today the first thing I thought was "Huh?, What's so special?" until I really got a look at all the detail of the shirt. It's not my style, but I'm impressed regardless. The side art would make an awesome skin for electronics.

Hey, I'm Fish Man, or at least thats what most of my friends and a few of my teachers call me. I'm currently a freshman in high-school, almost a sophmo sophomore. I attend an arts school where my two passions there (and in life) and theater and percussion. I play the quints in my schools drum line, I cosplay, I crochet, I sew and my favorite TeeFury shirt is probably the fighting dinosaur one. As for this design, it's definitely ominous and the style is great :D

Chee! I just opened a show full of squid art, so naturally I must have this shirt! =D I figure, if it's swirly and's got tentacles, it's cute and fluffy and loveable in my book! =D

I saw this shirt last night and loved it immediately, but when I woke up this morning, I literally thought I had just dreamed it, 'cause I was all, "Yeah right, Kate. You know that the ethyl alcohol fumes + numerous squiddifle doings of yours have been giving you cephalopodical dreams lately..." For reals. I'm totes not even kidding. Lately I've been having dreams about octopi and squid and cuttlefish taking the places of people in my day to day life. XP

Lemme tell ya, I'm awful glad to have that exhibit opened and done w/. Now I can just wear awesome cephalopod art on my chest, and go back to my normal dreams about my ferrets becoming brain surgeons. ¬_¬

I love the swirly, motion-filled feeling of this octopus- it captures the sense of rough seas and an ocean teeming with life.

Tell us about this design:
The octopus is an amazing animal. It is so elegant and beautiful yet is an aggressive and effective hunter. And because the octopus is such a recognizable animal, it is fun to abstract and tweak the look with the octopus while maintaining the look of an octopus.

Tell us about yourself:
I love my wife. I love my kid. I live in Chicago. I love playing video games and making art. I am happy. I hate politicians, but am intrigued with politics. I am a listener, not a talker. I hate to clean..but do it anyway. I like toys more than I should for my age. I am a weirdly picky eater, texture is as important as taste in most cases. I have 2 cats, one is a jerk and the other is nice..but sometimes they switch places.

What's a day in the life of Mark like?
Wake. Juggle Kid. Work. Juggle Kid. Draw. Play Video Games. Hang with Wife. Wash. Rinse. Repeat.

If you could go only to one restaurant for the next five years, which would it be?
I would probably choose a local place in Chicago called Grande Noodles. They have a good selection of Thai, Chinese, and Japanese food. Good place with nice selection..I think it would take a while to get sick of all the selection.

How did you get your start in art?
I've been drawing for about as long as I can remember. It always just seemed more appealing than school and/or work.

What do you think about art school?
I meet a ton of great people, spent way to much more on tuition, and actually got a decent education.

What advice would you offer to aspiring designers?
There is always gonna be somebody out there better than you are at whatever you do. Instead of getting discouraged, get inspired. No one starts at the top. And nothing worth anything comes free or easy.

MAC or PC?
MAC at work PC at home. I use them both quite a bit. I have no major preference. Although having a tablet is key for either to get any serious work done.

Cats or Dogs?
I like mammals. Birds are noisy and fish get boring. I always had dogs and cats when I was growing up. I like the both. But Ultimately I am more of a cat person. I like how you have to earn their respect and attention. I also like to be able to leave my place for a couple days without anyone having to take care of pets. Cats are very self sufficient.
