Yes! Finally a cool Dancin Stars shirt! I love Han Solo. I'd like to see an Indiana Jones shirt. Nothing too complicated, just plain, simple, awesome Indiana
I think it's a really, really light gray - like you have a blob of white paint and a smidgen of a drop of black gets into it and it's ever so slightly not white but a hint of colour to it. YMMV.
SO getting two of these! I generally get 2 of the Dancin Stars shirts so I have a back-up for when I wear out the first one.
I like the idea, but I am not sold on the execution. I don't know if the popsicle stick is supposed to be seen, making Han transluscent. I also think the popsicle should be a bit longer to accomodate his legs. I am leaning towards getting it, but it'll require a siesta to decide for sure.

Cool portfolio. I don't usually enjoy art/word puns but I have to admit that most of the ones in Mr. Schwen's portfolio are executed much better than most. If I lived in Arizona I would definitely get the Phoenix one.
I love that each time I write where Han comes from, it turns into Dancin Stars! I get the whole copyright reasoning but it's still pretty funny. So happy I got two of these since I have 7 tattoos from those movies. YAY!!
As a wee little child, I used to freeze my han solo figurine in a glass of water overnight, then melt him out the next morning with a magnifying glass, thus rescuing him from peril and saving the day.
Hahhaah it's really funny how everyone keeps arguing it's white despite a load of people trying to explain silver is not white. Anyhow, Han is not exactly centered and it's just bugging me so much (but that's just me) :P

Not a huge Dancin Stars fan but I'm sure fans will dig this :).
I always try to figure it out for myself (after all, that's what any viewer will be doing) before looking at the name or the artist's comments, and I came up with Nightmaresicle. It looked like a Dreamsicle with a nightmarish image in it. I didn't recognize Han. Carry on.
So...I took one look at this...and then facepalmed.
Love it. Very, very clever. My thoughts seemed to have been said already with wishing that the actual popsicle looked more realistic. It's a little strange to have the wooden stick look more realistic than the popsicle itself, but I suppose that's to not overshadow the rest of the design, and to make Han Solo pop.
Gus Hound said: The Solo artwork is fabulous. But the non-realistic, geometric style of the popsicle killed this one for me.
Agreed. The illustration of Han Solo is great. The popsicle by itself is also good. But the mix of softly shaded hand-drawn illustration with hard vector shapes and gradients just doesn't mix well. Also, there is something wrong with the center drop.
I'm not a big enough Dancin Stars fan to wear this, but I do like the idea, but the detail of the drips and bottom of the lolly just doesn't do it for me.
aarrgh... so uncertain on this one.... I love it, but don't know if I love it enough to wear it, but then think that I should buy it because it's cheap, but then it's not good value if it sits in a drawer.... will I.. won't I... argh!!
(oh, and I just want to type Dancin Stars so that I can test your fancy filters ;)
i really really REALLY want to love this shirt, but i'm iffy on it. It really bothers me that the bottom portion of Han is translucent and the stick is visible through him.
I do think that this shirt is wonderfully witty and an excellent idea, but i (unfortunately) have to side with others who have said it could have been executed better.
It won't be a buy from me, but if i got it in a grab bag i would probably be thrilled. The popsicle stick is just too much of a nitpicky issue for me to purchase right now.

I recommend a S T A R W A R S marathon stat! Start with Episodes 1,2,3 - break for pizza and battlefront - continue with 4,5,6.
Or if you just want to get the reference of this shirt, start with 4,5,6.
I like the slightly geeky-inclined t's that the artists offer. I'm digging this one too, not the colour though, shall have to think about it and check with le-GalacticTreasury. Very simple but cool design idea, definitely forwarding it on to a few friends

I have to agree with you there. As much as I like Dancin Stars tees and movie references, I miss the 'art.'
Didn't realize Art could be defined so easy.....sounds like elitist speak to me...
I didn't mean it that way, what I meant was just I miss original designs. I'm not saying that this design isn't original, it is in it's own way, but it's based off of something. I meant no harm by my comment before.
I really like the design but that drip! Please fix that drip and sell this shirt again!
The drip on the bottom has a weird dark gradient compared to the rest of the Popsicle and why is it not transparent? Shouldn't I be able to see the stick behind the drip just like the rest of the Popsicle?
skylyre
I must disagree. The only way to watch 5tar War5 is to first watch the original trilogy (4,5,6) and then the "first" trilogy (1,2,3).
You'll appreciate it much more that way I think :)
Actually i've done it both ways... Your way is good if you anticipate falling asleep during the final movies, my way is good cause you get rewarded with 4,5,6 for enduring 1,2,3. :)

If you are referring to anything I've posted today, my "complainy" comments were about the people who don't read comments and descriptions before posting and make ridiculous statements about not liking white shirts when the shirt is not on white. So you are wrong.
If you've gone to my profile and read my past comments and are referring to them, you are still wrong.

What is the deal professorE, do you believe the comment section is not for leaving a comment which expresses an opinion? I wonder how you became the comment police, was it an appointed position or was there a vote before I joined.
I think it's more being able to criticize/comment in a way to not be a DonkeyKong that's important. Tact I think is the correct word.
This is 100% correct. When I am witness to a child acting inappropriately, I correct them. That is how children learn. Through guidance and example.

I actually bought that sub-lime one the other day. Sorry about the mean comments, but I'm sick of "jokes" being portrayed as art. Make something ORIGINAL, not just reference things that everyone knows. That's kind of the point of getting a one-day tee; so it's not "mainstream".

Are you calling me a child for getting pissed that I haven't seen any "good" shirts lately? Lately, people have been asking for the side art, rather than the shirt itself!
And I think that a person is truly childish when he/she compares themselves to others as their gift to mankind. Correct that.

The Dancin Stars Nerd in me just dripped $11 bucks out of his wallet that could have gone to something useful like drugs or groceries. Thanks again Teefury for keeping me clean, thin, and stylish!
What's worse than getting a bug caught in your frosty treat? A dude. A dude is worse than a bug caught in your frosty treat.
Tell us about this design: Growing up watching Star Wars has filled my mind with some awesome ammunition. I'm constantly thinking of ideas, and this one rose to the top in my sketchbook.
Tell us about yourself: During the day, I'm a Design Director. But at night, I morph into a father/husband/artist/painter/drawer/illustrator/couch potato/tweeter.
What's a day in the life of David like? Get up uber early. Coffee. Coffee. Coffee. Draw/create ideas. Go to work. Create. Come home, wrestle/play with the kids. Watch a flick w/wife. Draw/create more. Repeat.
What do you want Teefury fans to know? I won a loon-calling contest when I was 9. It's on my resume.
Do you own alot of shirts? If so, what's your favorite? Laundry basket is full of them. Fav is one of Brock Davis' (aka laserbread): Animals with Eyepatches! Yes!
How did you get into art? Bob Ross. I kid, but, I seriously had a weird obsession watching him paint when I was younger. Which later turned into getting a BFA in graphic design. Go figure. Maybe it's because I could never make my trees as happy as the master did.
If you had a million dollars, what would you do with it? Travel. And then travel some more. And if I had any extra time and money, I'd probably do some more traveling.
MAC or PC? Not even a question. I bleed apple juice.
Do you have any interesting hobbies or tales of intrigue? Do tell! Ian. My son. In the two years of his life thus far, has managed to flood our basement, burn an iron mark into our hardwood floor, fill our toaster with nail trimmers, and sharpie the microwave. I think I found my artist.
Any shout outs? My wife Sarah, and the 4 kids. You guys are my life! Buddies: @go_van_go @phildesignart @laserbread @tscottmajor @superbeastbrew @ghubacek

I recommend a S T A R W A R S marathon stat! Start with Episodes 1,2,3 - break for pizza and battlefront - continue with 4,5,6.
Or if you just want to get the reference of this shirt, start with 4,5,6.
drdrdrmanhattansaid 113 weeks ago
Very simple but cool design idea, definitely forwarding it on to a few friends
skylyresaid 113 weeks ago
I must disagree. The only way to watch 5tar War5 is to first watch the original trilogy (4,5,6) and then the "first" trilogy (1,2,3).
You'll appreciate it much more that way I think :)

It must be outta the.. 70's? Judging from the thumbnail I saw. I suppose that kind of thing could fly back then. I don't feel fair in judging it too harshly b/c maybe it wasn't looked upon the way it is today? Either way though, my first thought was HORF.

I don't think there is a better way to describe Silver.
:)
Also Money is in Check, Definitely buying this one.

Great idea, but like everyone else said, the two styles just don't gel great together... Or else it was a buy for me!
melbelsaid 113 weeks ago
I second that. And you might want to not come here tomorrow cause theres a 90% chance its gonna be a Looooost shirt.

silverfangsaid 113 weeks ago
I didn't mean it that way, what I meant was just I miss original designs. I'm not saying that this design isn't original, it is in it's own way, but it's based off of something. I meant no harm by my comment before.
Texsaid 113 weeks ago
Teefury, since you have a word filter, please do put one on the word "art". I'm just really sick of the endlessly repetitive discussions.

The drip on the bottom has a weird dark gradient compared to the rest of the Popsicle and why is it not transparent? Shouldn't I be able to see the stick behind the drip just like the rest of the Popsicle?
Please fix and resell!
Jethrosaid 113 weeks ago
Actually i've done it both ways... Your way is good if you anticipate falling asleep during the final movies, my way is good cause you get rewarded with 4,5,6 for enduring 1,2,3. :)

good point! my logic is that you'll never want to sit through 4,5&6 if you watch 1,2&3 first...lol
i'm not hating on 1,2&3 either - just like to originals better.

The dark gradient in the drip is the stick :)

irartistsaid 113 weeks ago
um, I still only like the loosely drawn part. It's like you did this awesome drawing and then got bored so you stuck an easy graphic around it and called it a day. Why not finish what you started?
professorEsaid 113 weeks ago
If you are referring to anything I've posted today, my "complainy" comments were about the people who don't read comments and descriptions before posting and make ridiculous statements about not liking white shirts when the shirt is not on white. So you are wrong.
If you've gone to my profile and read my past comments and are referring to them, you are still wrong.
Good day, sir.
professorEsaid 113 weeks ago
This is 100% correct. When I am witness to a child acting inappropriately, I correct them. That is how children learn. Through guidance and example.

I actually bought that sub-lime one the other day. Sorry about the mean comments, but I'm sick of "jokes" being portrayed as art. Make something ORIGINAL, not just reference things that everyone knows. That's kind of the point of getting a one-day tee; so it's not "mainstream".

Texsaid 113 weeks ago
OHMYGOD don't you people ever read the description or anything anyone said?! It's a silver shirt, we've been saying it all day!
Psylocksaid 113 weeks ago
Are you calling me a child for getting pissed that I haven't seen any "good" shirts lately? Lately, people have been asking for the side art, rather than the shirt itself!
And I think that a person is truly childish when he/she compares themselves to others as their gift to mankind. Correct that.
PS: If you tell kids they are wrong too many times, they punch you in the balls.
professorEsaid 113 weeks ago
I never compared myself to a "gift to mankind", I merely noted that I was acting as a responsible adult. You stand corrected.
