No, people, normal people, at Soylent Green. [As well as the other Soylent products.]
If we're doing a Soylent T, I'd prefer the outline of the woman in the mini-skirt, with the word furniture in all caps under it. Black on green. Probably wouldn't buy that either.
Soylent Green is the movie adapted from the SciFi novel "Make Room, Make Room" written by Harry Harrison, it starred Charlton Heston. Soylent Green, was the food of an overpopulated society that was "Made from the best stuff on earth" (people, hence the zombie crossover)
firecoral417 said: Interesting concept...except that zombies eat live people, not dead people converted into food for live people.
Technically it depends what zombie reference you believe. Zombies do consume bodies in mass amounts and the person is not alive the whole time. So yes they do eat the dead. If you want to be even more technical zombies do not require food. So :P
I acknolwedge that some research suggests an all brain diet for zombies:
http://www.theonion.com/content/node/38541
But I believe there is a stronger case for the previous research that produced the, "traditional zombie food pyramid, which consists of five to seven daily servings of human hearts, three to four servings of livers or eyeballs, and two servings of brains."
I'm really liking this. Seriously, it's Rikered to pump a corpse full of toxic chemicals, then place the corpse in a completely wasteful extravagant coffin, and then bury them together. At least run the corpses through a shredder and feed them to local wildlife, pigs or dump the sludge in the ocean. After consuming a lifetime of resources (or many lifetimes if you're a typical American), it's only right to give back. Ok, you can harvest useable organs first for patients who need transplants (unless you're an alcoholic who destroyed your own liver...no new liver for you), then mulch the rest.
Amusing.. But both zombies and soylent green are a tired concept at this point. Putting them together just makes me groan. *especially* with the whole 'hand from the grave' thing which is the 3rd horrible cliche here.
TF, I want to buy a shirt that is random, wacky, unexpected, and open to interpretation!
any zombie shirt is a good shirt. and as a lover of classics films, i understand the reference. genius. And double points sir if your daughters name really is Harley Quinn. Come book references make me smile.
Yeah, this was pretty much an instant buy for me. I know there's the movie, but the same reference is also in one of my favorite role play games (RPGs) of all time, Xenogears. :) Plus, zombies are just awesome.
Am I the only one that doesn't like this? The layout is uninspired and the over-used "drips" make no sense. Is the dirt bleeding?
I get the reference, it's just not that clever to me, sorry.
NeverGonnaGive said: It's too old of a reference for most people to understand sans Google.
Great design though!
According to Wikipedia, they are looking to remake the movie. So it may be relevant (again) soon.
So..... if you buy this now, you are ahead of the game.
You shouldn't say "relevant (again)". For a few reasons.
• Art is always relevant.
• It's relevant because I can go to the movie store/online movie store and watch it tonight.
(Which I'm absolutely going to do! Thank you!)
• Just because the younger generation hasn't taken a bite of the Green, doesn't make it irrelevant. (BTW most of your favorite "adult" cartoons have made reference to the movie.
• And the number one reason......... It's PEOPLE! SOYLENT GREEN....... IS PEOPLE!!!!!!
I LOVETHIS! I live it so much I forgot to use the space bar! Buying 2. I loved the movie and the old SNL skit "soylent purple is made....out of....PEOPLE!!!" love zombies. Love soylent products. Love you long time.
In for two, congrats to L11moon! So who made the decision to change the winning slogan, "Would zombies eat Solyent Green?" I understand it had to be tweaked a bit to make it work with a design and the end result is great. Just curious if L11moon was consulted after winning or how the whole process works.
NeverGonnaGive said: It's too old of a reference for most people to understand sans Google.

Anyone into science fiction will understand. Classics live on because they are CLASSIC. And I love that not everyone will get it - if I wanted a exploding bacteria shirt, I'd go to Hot Topic.

... and the last film in which the famed Edward G. Robinson (famous for gangster films) appeared. But this fact and "Soylent Green" are far too obscure cultural references for most people to get, and that renders this T pretty useless.
By the way, the zombie reference is lost even on those who understand the rest of it. Making Soylent Green was a recycling project... feeding today's people using the bodies of the elderly (thus the importance of the role by aging star Robinson).
It must be way tough to sell Ts that you you have to explain. It kind of defeats the purpose.
Yes!! This is such a great movie! I need this shirt. Also, it seems like I almost never buy anything off of here that isn't movie based or themed. Shame on me.

Yeah, I was consulted on it. In the comments of the vote, someone argued that Zombies would prefer fresh flesh instead of a ration. So I commented that Soylent Green was the Power Bar of choice for Zombies. That slogan flows much much better; and I was excited when they wanted to go with that change.
Jimiyo deserves the credit on the illustration. It is similar to an idea that I had in my head but his design that he came up with is way better.

awesome design, too bad its not on a black shirt (take that rest of teefury!). The artists logo is awesome too, and if its referencing what I think it is, it is missing the whip. Its quite fitting for an assitant principal. Nice work!

I don't know why you, and others, say this. I am a high school teacher and I can tell you for a fact that many, if not most of the, students in my school know of this movie and would get the reference. I plan on wearing this proudly and garnering jealous praise from students.

Simpsons has used it in at least one episode and some one else mentioned that it was also referenced in several other current adult shows. Even if the movie is an older classic the Soylent Green reference lives on outside of it.
And I have to say from meeting her the daughter is the living embodiment of Ms. Quinn :)
Congrats L11Moon looks like you have a big hit here.

I don't know when. Been wondering the same thing myself. I dont think either will stop honestly. And if anything I think you're going to see a huge explosion of werewolves in anything. People are going to make werewolves trendy and then I'm going to be sad because they're the last cool thing not trendy yet. At least Buffy the Vampire Slayer (the show) and Angel were good. But I guess people forget those in this day of Twilight everything. I really wish Blade would kill that kid from Twilight and that girl just for the hell of it.
I agree with a lot of these other people. Zombies probably wouldn't eat this because I'm sure it couldn't sustain them...They like living meals! :P
Instant buy, nonetheless. Love it
TEEFURY, SUPPORT YOUR FELLOW TEEFURIAN: Remember way back in 1977 when we had a make up a slogan contest? Well, many decades later, we have the conclusion, illustrated, and slightly modified. Our winner is L11moon!
Thanks to all of you who participated in creating slogans and voting on them. We'd like to run more community contests, so if you have an idea, let us know through the comments, facebook, or twitter.
Tell us about yourself: I like to wear t-shirts.
What's a day in the life of l11moon like? I'm an assistant principal at an elementary school. So I'm the guy that every remembers having to go to when you got in big trouble. But I also get to show students new technology, greet them outside and say good bye every day, and bring prizes to classes for doing well every month. I also am going to school, again, so someday I will be Dr. L11moon. When I'm not working or at class, I spend my time with my wife and daughter. (My wife says we are raising an evil genius.)
How long have you known about Teefury? I have been checking Tee Fury daily for several months. I use to check it once a week and I was missing out on too many great designs.
Do you own alot of shirts? If so, what's your favorite? As I said I like T-Shirts. I have so many, I have had to donate 1/3 of them to charity just to find room in my closet. Some of my favorites are ones I made in high school (not all the greatest designs) and some of my recent comic themed ones. I have a glow in the dark Green Lantern shirt that comes in handy. I was really excited about the ones I got for my wife: Reindeer At-At and RAAWWRR!!!
What kind of things would you like to see more of from Teefury? I love all the Star Wars shirts. I would love to see what some people could do with Superman, Captain America, and Ghost Rider.
Recommend a product: I love Adobe Illustrator. When I have time to make some designs, I love the clean look from EPS format. I just recently reunited with Illustrator after not having it for about 8 years.
Any shout outs? Thanks to everyone that voted for my slogan! (Obviously) you wouldn't be reading this if it wasn't for your support. A personal shout out to my wife, Beth, and daughter, Harley Quinn, who make every day an adventure.
