really nice colors and their usage in the design, but it feels kind of hipster "i'm gunna wear a shirt w/ a musician on it who i don't actually listen to!"
that said, i blame the hipsters, not the design. i'll sleep on it and see if i can't reconcile this pickle...
i totally dig it. but then, i'm not a hipster. i'm an old hippie who was listening to hendrix when he was alive. still do. i ordered two- one for when i feel like bumming around, the other (women's) will be my "dress" shirt.
Johnny Allen Hendrix was his birth name. It eventually changed. The design is nice, and I'm definitely buying.
I'm not a hipster. The closest I can get to being a hipster is having a tumblr.
From a graphic pov, the circles and colors are an interesting mix that make the shirt attractive on a person. So those that say, "Oh the design is bad. I don't like the shirt."...well, I'm sure that the Dancin Stars tee is coming out soon for you folk.
almost feel weird saying I really like this thanks to the negative posts.. not a hipster..barely know what that means.., just into art and hendrix.. sew shweet!
Awesome! Hendrix has been one of my all time favorite artist for years. The design is interesting, i definitely feel its a very modern flashy style, which is an interesting combo with Hendrix, yet the colors and the rings somewhat have the psychedelia feel
And finally a reference on a shirt thats not Dancin Stars, Dancin track, misplaced or some $#!^ internet phenomena.
Why is it that every design that is totally awesome on cream or white gets printet on banana for girls?!
I'm still sad about that over-caffeinated bunny from a few weeks ago.
Please, teefury, keep in mind that yellow is not a suitable color for every girl. In fact, some of us are looking rather ill and ready to throw up wearing yellow.
Poor teefury...I want white! I hate white! Cream is lame! I only wear black rawr! If you've gotten a shirt to the point where most of the comments are color based, congrats, people are not delving into the realm of "eat poo and die for your design".
If I didn't remember my college days where every freshman had a Hendrix poster, I might consider this. I am regretful I have to pass, as I very much enjoy your style.
It would be great if the shirt color was an integral part of the design, color-wise. Maybe the art colors and the shirt color could "vibrate", like the green on red posters from the 60s.
It reminds me a little of a colleague's tee-shirt, emblazoned with Che Guevara. When asked by a workmate 'Who's that then?' the wearer had no idea, but knew it was a 'cool image'. Worse still when he was told who it was, he had no idea who the guy was, what the story is, etc.
Unfortunately, that's often happening with Jimi Hendrix, Bob Marley, etc. (though not always).

It's sad. I agree with you. And it makes me very sad. Very sad indeed.
I feel the placement of the lines do not compliment the shape of the design. The solid green line right where the face is starting is causing a lot of tension.
Other than that well done. I love Jimmy Hendrix, but probably not enough to defend myself while wearing this shirt haha.

I don't. I hate it. It's just ridiculous.
People that do this type of complaining on the net usually
have absolutely no life and friends and it's the only way to gather attention. It's kinda sad, as the internet could be used for acquiring some great peeps as friends.
I really could not care less about the 'hipster/non-hipster' debate. I happen to know who Jimi Hendrix is but I would've bought this tee even if I didn't, simply because it looks fan-bleedin'-tastic. Done deal, now ship it ASAP!
Bought! this shirt is sick! Anyone complaining about it probably buys their clothes at Stitches. I know when somebody see's me in this shirt, they are going to think "man, that's a great shirt". That's it that's all. Not the most intelligent comment... but compared to some of the other users, it reads like Shakespeare
Ohhhh Spock! banana! If I wasn't 5' tall I would buy the men's.
I really want this but I don't think I look good in banana. Gonna have to think about it! hrm.
And um to all those hipster comments. whotheeffcares. If I saw someone wearing this and struck a conversation with them and they didn't know who Jimi Hendrix was, well I would tell them. Not be like ewww u poser. haha I love your coller than thou folks. crack me up :D

Man that scares me. Why should people be wearing a face if they dont even know who it is? They could be supporting a number of evil things or ideas that are contrary to their beliefs. Anyways, I consider this a MAJOR improvement over the last hendrix shirt. I like the colors, but the fact that this image of his face is so common is a turn off for me. I am picky though. I've only found one Hendrix shirt that was worth buying to me and that was by luck on ebay. Even as an enormous hendrix fan, I wont be buying this one. But those are my two cents. But as the good man would say, "I dont give a $^%# if you boo, as long as you boo in key"
So sad to see how many people associated Johnny allen with a freakin nascar driver instead of Hendrix himself. It's a sad sad world for the history of rock music.

um, i totally just tumbl'd your peeps pictures. My mom has been forcing me to listen to jimmi hendrix since birth, I wouldn't be caught dead in this shirt...way too hip. haha. you guys are funny though.
Not a big Hendrix fan, guess I'm too much of a hipster ("indie", folk, post-rock). It looks nice, although I feel like this idea has been used too many times for the design to be unique if it doesn't have something radically different.
Looks allright, though. Would've probably bought it if it were some other iconic artist I actually like. Dylan, Bowie, Jeff Mangum...
This actually looks kind of lazy to me. I'm sure the pattern was time-consuming and I do like the color, but the Hendrix photo is obviously live-traced.
I feel like it's kind of cheating, but at least it's got some nice patterned design quality to it instead of just a color.
I must be getting old because I had no idea what a hipster was....
Hipsters- is a slang term that first appeared in the 1940s, and was revived in the 1990s and 2000s often to describe types of young, recently-settled urban middle class adults and older teenagers with interests in non-mainstream fashion and bacteria, particularly alternative music, indie rock, independent film.
Nice shirt.....I kinda got a chuckle out of the "Who is Johnny Allen Hendrix anyway"
Tell us about yourself: Ehm, I was born in 1987 in Rosario, Argentina. I don't know how to ride a bike, or how to read analog clocks. I love airplanes, peppermint tea, winter and I'd hate to die eaten by an anaconda.
Do you work as a full time artist? If so, how does one get into that? Yes, working, A LOT
If you were stranded on an island with a choice of one Album, what would it be? oh, so hard. Björk - Homogenic
If you had a million dollars, what would you do with it? I'd move to another country
What would be your dream job? this :)
What advice would you offer to aspiring designers? don't believe in everything you see in ffffound
