Ahhh clever. As much as I hate to admit it, the pop culture reference shirts always seem to be my favorites. Heck I'm wearing my Darth Tut shirt right now! When the banks open, as they often do on mondays, this will be mine!
Hrm. Saw the newsletter and got excited about today's Trek shirt since I've been waiting for one since Sporck in May, but I'm sad to say I'm a bit disappointed. Unfortunately, Spock doesn't always make a rad shirt (though often he does).
I think what bugs me most is that this has sort of been done in like 3 ways. One was the invention of "Rock, Paper, Scissors, Lizard, Spock" by Sam Kass as seen here then brought to the general public by The Big Bang Theory's Sheldon Cooper then the subsequent shirts based on that episode. Sadly, even if it's unintentional, this is not only unoriginal, but not as funny as the predecessor.
That, and if it's printed like it is in the picture, the wrap-around on ladies would make it hard to understand. Good try, great to see some trek, dig the way it's rendered, but I'm not sold.
I like the shirt but I've heard the joke so many times since it came out on The Big Bang Theory, I think I will pass this time. Nice side art though :)
Good to know the Big Bang reference was already known, though. What a weird coincidence that would have been. I think even if this were still based on the episode and hadn't already been made into a shirt, I'd have considered it more.
Dear me, read before you spout lots of words about stuff people already know.

Agreed. This is a big issue for me, since I'm a lady and I like to wear clever tees. I received the purpley through-the-monsters-mouth tee recently, and I love it, but the image wrap around, once I'm wearing it, kinda hides parts of the image on both sides, and then you lose perspective of what's going on.
This can be fixed by simply making the image smaller--keeping the image in the dead center of the shirt.
I like the shirt idea but once I'm wearing it really all people will see is "paper."
I find it highly illogical, yet funny. I'm not a big funny shirt kinda guy, though. I don't like being pointed at or laughed at. It goes back to my childhood.
I wish all the pieces had a joke to them like the Spock one, which could be shaped like a rock and then have the paper and scissor like that, but punny and fun as is.
I love how stablercake is never amused by anything. Lol sometimes I find myself just checking the comments to see how pissed off she is by the shirt of the day.....
I really wish the concept was better executed. I'm usually very impressed by the level of artwork on this site, but this just doesn't have any special qualities. If it were better executed, I'd probably be able to overlook it's connection to big bang theory. Pass on this one, want a Spock shirt bad.
People complaining about there being too many 'pop culture parody' shirts are so tired. I understand that you like the artistic design shirts, so do I. But every shirt can't be artsy, that's not the site they've made here, it's not the site you signed up for. And if you actually take the time to look you'd see that there is actually a good mix of both (Doing a quick count shows me that, of the last 50 shirts only 21 were "Pop Culture" references, with one of those days being grab bag. Anecdotally, it just so happens that two of the three shirts I got were artsy.) So how about you give it a rest for about a week (just five days really), everyone knows how you feel, and your argument is inaccurate.
Man...I hope that the shirts for the rest of the week are better than this one. I truly can't understand the drooling all over this design. Maybe if I was a Trekkie? (sp?) I don't get excited to see "the scissors oriented perfectly vertical to slyly imply Spock's infamous Vulcan hand gesture." What? Must be the hallucinogens. But,seriously, I must congratulate Raz, you sly dawg, for the printing and for your
crowd pleaser. Way to go! Good luck on the sales.

Nobody is excited to see something that isn't there, so slow down there, reading comprehension super-genius. Maybe it's the endogenous hallucinogens hitting what's left of your synaptic receptors.

I'd say I'm half Trekkie (that's an auto fill spelling :P) and I'm still not drooling. If licking this shirt induces hallucinations, however, I might drop a cool 9 for the experience...
Jesus christ people. Its just a play on words. "Rock, Paper, Scissors" changed to "Spock, Paper, Scissors". Its not supposed to refer to "The Big Bang Theory" . Stop complaining, its awesome and funny shirt.
I figured this would be an either love it or hate shirt. Most pop culture shirts usually are. Either way good or bad appreciate your time to comment on it. Always good to hear the good as well as the bad.

Actually, that's the biggest part of the comments for me. I just check them to see what Stabler's said, everyday.
Well this is pretty darn kewl but I'm not much of a Star Trek fan :/
I would however, hang every one of those pieces on the side on my wall without hesitation! Great stuff! Doesn't seem like the side art would do well on a tee, won't do them justice. Prints though? Yes please :)
SEE TeeFury?!? I said print "Where is the Archive" on a slogan tee...it shows up at least once every day, but you no listen to me. :( Sad Face.
I absolutely agree with that. The final choices they gave us were so abysmal that I declined to vote. Since I know I won't be buying it anyway, I don't feel it's fair for me to effect the outcome.

Heeey, I got a kick out of and bought Rhymenocerous/Hiphopoppotumus :U
And hey, what are comments for if not for leaving honest feedback? I just happen to be a highly opinionated fellow artist, my sense of humor just happens to be a little different than the humor that makes it on some of the shirts here. C:

That is actually more depressing than me commenting almost every day lolss
I like Rock Paper Scissors Lizard Spock just a little bit more.
The lizard is necessary because Spock doesn't always win in Rock Paper Scissors Lizard Spock.
He gets poisoned by the lizard and disproved by the paper. The only reason no one wins is because they all pick Spock (because he's awesome not because he beats all the other ones).
But Spock Paper Scissors is cool too. 'Cause I love me some Spock.
Tell us about this design: You know that inspiration can hit at anytime. Well for this one it hit while watching a popular TV sitcom about these geek roomates and their friends. They were playing a game of rock, paper, scissor, lizard, Spock but no one ever wins, because Spock always wins. I just removed the unnecessary lizard and since Spock rhymes with rock removing rock from the equation seemed logical.
Are you a Star Trek fan? I'm a sci-fi fan and Star Trek falls into that category.
Did you watch the newest one? Did you like it? Yes I did watch and was pleased all the Star Trek cliches were present, Kirk without shirt, Kirk hooking up with green lady, Bones saying "Damn it Jim I'm a Doctor not a (fill in the blank), Scottie giving her all she's got. The only thing is Spock (the young Spock) was to emotional but other than that a good fun movie.
What did you think about the superfluous lens flares when they were on the bridge? It's like they decided to light the whole bridge with 1000 usb Led lights. Sup with that? How can you not love such an over used, cheesy effect. All Science Fiction movies should have a least a couple of scenes with lens flares in it. How else are you going to feel like your staring into the sun.
What would the you of now, tell the you of 10 years ago? Invest lots of money into Netflix.
You have great illustrations. Any advice for aspiring artists? Unless your born with the talent don't even bother..... just kidding. Actually draw everyday, practice, be willing to accept criticism even if its not constructive. Do plenty of life drawings, learn the rules before you break them and practice, learn anatomy. Learn from others when you have the chance..note learn from others does not mean copy others.
Recommend a product. Mechanical pencil, Windsor-Newton kalinsky sable brush and some India ink. Can't ever go wrong going low tech. Bamboo brushes are fun for fat messy lines. My favorite tech gadget I've gotten in this past year is the Roku box for netflix. Now some shameless self promotion..my deckpeck store, my zazzle store.
Any shout outs?
To the usual suspects, friends, family and those who show their love and support by buying my gear.
