To robotbox_x, this is what Wikipedia has on Mario:
"Mario debuted as "Jumpman" in the arcade game Donkey Kong in 1981. He is shown as a carpenter that has a pet ape. The carpenter mistreats the ape, so Donkey Kong escapes and kidnaps Jumpman's girlfriend, originally known as the Lady, but later named Pauline. ...In the 1983 arcade game Mario Bros. Mario and his younger brother Luigi are portrayed as Italian-American plumbers, who have to defeat creatures that have been coming from the sewers below New York."
He was a carpenter at first, then a plumber.
Love the design of the shirt though, and the joke behind it. I'm too poor to buy a shirt at the moment unless it's simply epic. This one is close though...so close. *thumbs-up*
The graphic is too small.
The reference is too vague(Is this about middle eastern food?)
The shirt color is wrong/bad for my complexion/so 2009/etc.
The use of Pop Culture has been banned from this site.
The picture is too big and will be a problem for the ladies.
I don't get the reference.
All-in-all this is a huge fail.
Now that I've gotten that out the way for those who will need to explain why they won't be purchasing today's shirt, I can get to the important stuff...

Hey @Teevil I just sent support/service an email about pricing, I would really appriciate it if you guys could read it. Basically all it says is that USPS prices have changed and that it's the same price to ship everywhere in the United States. This became effective yesterday so I can understand why you might not know about this. It's just that with the economy and the way everything is right now, I don't want to be spending any more money than I have to. I really want to get this shirt. And I don't know if this is true or not, but my friend said that it's illegal to charge more for shipping than it actually costs. Don't take this the wrong way or anything like that, I love this site and have bought a few tees from it and I will continue to buy more. Thanks for hearing my out and hope to get some feedback. :)
As far as the silly conversation above goes... everyone depicts Mario as a plumber. It might be because of the movie or because of urban myth but no matter the cause everyone will know this is a mario shirt and depicts the character as he is known. I, for one, love it!

Ha. I would ask you to marry me, if I didn't think that your screen name was a reference to your age.
I love this and yet feel it's soooo inappropriate seeing that the guy who played Mario in the TV show died in October. Needless to say, I just purchased two of these shirts. Haha, it's a pretty awesome shirt.

He is a plumber. I don't care if they never made a plumbing game starring mario. Gordon Freeman from Half Life is a scientist; however, in the game you go around shooting things. Does that make him a soldier and not a scientist. NO, he is a scientist put into a position where he must act like a soldier.
But back to the shirt, I love it and the zombie art on the side. Even if it is leet. How about a conker shirt since you go by that anyways.

My screen name is actually a reference to Michael Jordan and my lucky number (My son and I were both born on the 23rd of different months). I'm a single guy turning 30 in a couple of weeks.
I dig seeing someone incorporate the tee design into something other than just an illustration floating on top of it, so this is a nice use of that. Blablabla.

Being a HUGE Mario fan (nintendo junkie) I like the shirt for the simple fact it's a nintendo reference. Though, I do feel it could have been executed a little better. Not a buy for me, but i still dig it!

30 isn't middle aged! Wow. I'm not 30 yet but still!
The bubbles are pushing the metal stuff up to the surface. Sure, that might take a LOT of bubbles, but I think the few randomly placed bubbles imply that idea enough. That is my conclusion :)
The artistic liscense of floating wrenches (or any metal for that matter) is fine with me.
The problem I have is that it is a crescent wrench and not a pipe wrench!
Also, as a product of the 80's, I had no problem getting the plumber connection. It was obvious!
The jury is still out on whether or not I'm buying!?!
Maybe....MAYBE...it's of the tools JUST as they were thrown into the water..so they are in the process of sinking... MAYBE. LOL.

Shirt rocks.
The Michael Jordan he is referencing is a former pro NBA (basketball) player for the Chicago Bulls. He had a brief stint in the minor leagues playing Baseball but it didn't amount to anything..and I think he wore the number 35 there for the Chicago White Sox. The only reason it happened was because the same guy who owns the White Sox owns the Bulls and honored Jordan's basketball contract while he was playing baseball.
In regards to everyone having a problem with the floating tools, maybe they're fake tools? Fake plumber, fake tools? I don't know, makes sense to me. Discuss.
Dvdbos said: I don't understand the ones who says "if i had money, i'd buy it"..
For 11-18 dollars?
Are you serious?
The problem here is that not everybody is or has a Daddy Warbucks. To put it less bluntly, the economy is in a recession of sorts, people are being downgraded and fired left and right, yet for obvious reasons, people still need things like food, shelter, heat, etc. These needs are further complicated when one has a child, (children are basically people, but smaller) in which case one has to provide all the aforementioned things to the children before they can provide them for themselves. If one's income is limited it is not always easy to provide all of these things to one's family and one's self. Once all these things are provided one may not have the funds left over to spend on what is essentially just a tee shirt (albeit, one with a kick ass design). I hope that helps clear things up.
Oh, and in California they add .79¢ for taxation purposes.
Not an interesting design. Pass. But would sell my soul and my roommate's for the zombie design. When that's a shirt, let me know. So far seriously disappointed by the designs this week.
ktolivar said:

I pay more since I live in Kanuckistan and it takes 2 to 3 weeks to get here. It's a nice surprise in my mailbox when they do arrive. I don't pay the California sales tax and luckily, I don't pay import taxes either.
But there are days in a row when I order - for myself, my kids, my boyfriend, my friends. I spread the TeeFury love where & when I can.

From the comment, I'm guessing rconnolly lives in either Alaska or Hawaii, so has to pay an extra $3 for shipping. I don't know about the legality of charging more than actual costs, but I doubt that is the case or it just requires calling it shipping and handling to cover the difference. I wish that were the case because there sure are a lot of companies and auction sellers that love to try and gouge on shipping.
Regarding the design, I kind of like it and got the reference right away, but it looks like a pass. I just got laid off again and while I could still afford the shirt since I don't have little mouths to worry about, I just don't like the design enough to buy another Mario shirt. It is funny and creative, but I think I have enough Mario shirts already (thanks to this site for a couple). As others said, the zombie shirt would be a definite buy though.

I didn't think about that he/she might be from Alaska or Hawaii. Thanks for pointing it out. :) Still, it can't be cheap to ship across sea or another country so 3 bucks extra sounds like a deal, distance considered. But yeah, I didn't mean to sound mean or anything, I was just confused at his/her confusion.
Anywho, it's a very nicely done shirt. Kudos to the artist! :)

I was wondering myself about the shipping price complaint, so I had to doublecheck to see if AK and HI had higher rates like usual. I agree, I think the international shipping price seems very reasonable. I've got a feeling it is painfully slow, but at least the price isn't too high. I limited postcards from Germany just because it was a euro each (about $1.36) at the time. I thought that was insane for a postcard, so some were handed their postcards when I got back. I ended up beating the postcards home since I forgot to mail them out sooner anyway.
Butternine said: I agree, I think the international shipping price seems very reasonable. I've got a feeling it is painfully slow, but at least the price isn't too high.
I just quoted the part I wanted to respond to...
The shipping up to me in Canada is slow once it hits CanadaPost for some reason. The packages have never been opened, even when I've ordered three. TeeFury ships within 3 days and I get my shirts in 2 to 3 weeks. Takes that long when my sister in NYC sends pics of my niece so it's just CanadaPost being slow.
The US$5 for shipping for one to three tees is AWESOME!! I cannot get anything shipped here for that amount that is not a letter. I love this site and their tees. I have more than I can wear but hey, that is one of the reasons I love them.

I think Dangeresque was joking. Michael Jordan actually wore 23 for the majority of his career and 45 for the last 17 games of the 1994-95 season when he returned from his first retirement. He chose to wear 23 in high school because he wanted to be half as good as his older brother who wore 45. If I wanted to be really vague, I could use 12 as my username since he wore it for one game against Orlando.

err when did teefury become a middle age blind dating website? XD
I was simply explaining my username since someone was wondering what it meant. There was mention of a marriage proposal so I thought it might be useful to know my gender and age. Thanks for the laughs.
Yes, I've been a graphic designer from 17 years. I create logos, designs, packaging and may more, creating design for tees is the fun part of my job, the way to explain myself and not only the desires of my customers.
I noticed that you are a winner in many places. La Fraise, DBH, Teefury. Are there other contest sites you win at as well?
La Fraise, DBH, Threadless, Uneetee, Teefury and many others, but La Fraise is the website where I have the most wins. I like the contest, the community and as a french guy is easier to me to communicate with people.
How many do you win on average in a month?
TOP SECRET but finally not enought to substantiate the hours spent on Adobe Illustrator ;)
What is your favorite shirt you have designed?
Ouch really hard to say, on my computer my "tee design" folder contains more than 700 designs so impossible to answer, and my favorite of past month is not the same as next one. At this moment maybe this one :
Who is your favorite artist?
It's really hard to say too, i really think that i don't "hate" any designer or design. In every creation we could found something interresting but I am a fan of Julie west , Joshua M. Smith , and Alex trochut
Any advice for aspiring designers? As y said , God give us an amazing power, the power of creation, everyone could create something (music, sound, color, design, painting, art..) so let's use and abuse of it...to create ....life !

23? The only Michael Jordan I know wore 45. What a vague reference to a baseball player.
Shirt rocks.

First off, as someone already pointed out, 30 is not middle aged. And second off, it was a joke, relax.

I was simply explaining my username since someone was wondering what it meant. There was mention of a marriage proposal so I thought it might be useful to know my gender and age. Thanks for the laughs.
