Tell us about this design:

It's a rabbit finding coffee. I suppose it may have been funnier with a squirrel, but oh well. This is what you get.

Do you like coffee?

Sure do. I spend a lot of time at Starbucks drawing. It gets mighty dull sleeping, eating, working, playing and pooping in the same place all the time, so I love that Starbucks encourages 'creatives' to bring in their screenplay or whatever and sit and draw for hours on end (I get paid for my work though. Hyuk hyuk! ;o)

Tell us about yourself:

What an incredibly vague question. I can't possibly answer that without being given some greater confines within which to answer. I thrive when put in a box, but if you give me the wide open spaces, I'm not sure I'd know which way to run.

What's a day in the life of Caanan like?

The beauty of working for yourself is that there is no typical day. Just yesterday I travelled halfway across the city just to eat at an awesome grilled cheese sandwich place. Other days, I'll work at Starbucks for hours on end. Some days at home. Some days I write. Some days I avoid work entirely by reading comics, playing computer games, and having the life sucked out of me by the internet. Not even eating food is a daily constant, especially if I have tight deadlines.

Do you own alot of shirts? If so, what's your favorite?

Ha! Yes. Too many. Apart from my Moomin and Tintin tshirts I bought recently on a trip to Europe, I buy all my tshirts from redbubble.com. I especially love the designs I got from lauriepink on the bubble. I just 'get' her sense of humour. A monkey saying 'arse'? Yes, please.

How did you get into art?

Peanuts.

Where would you like to see yourself in 5 years with your art career or other?

I'd like to be making my own graphic novels. Writing, and drawing them. I love the idea of complete stories. I don't think I could ever do the constant serialisation of comics. Stories should have a middle, beginning and an end. I like how Doug TenNapel brings out a couple graphic novels a year. Always really new and different ideas. That'd be cool to work like that.
