I love the concept, I just wish the actual art was a bit better, more defined, because then I'd totally have no qualms about dishing out money for this shirt. Unfortunately, also due to the fact that I bought yesterday's shirt, I'm going to have to pass :( Nice effort, though.
Oddly, I think I would like this t-shirt more if it didn't have Colbert's face on it. Not to say I don't like him, I just think the original design (original four presidents) would better suit me.
Beside the fact that Colbert looks nothing like himself, the lack of definition (though obv a style choice) is what makes me not want this shirt. Good effort, though
Ironic that my dad got his book "I'm an American (And you can too!)" for christmas, and then I see this shirt. :S he's everywhere! anyway, not really digging the shirt, however, i love the side art. (:
I haven't said this in a long time, but instant buy!! colbertnation.com shirts are American Apparel rubbish... it'll be great to finally have a decent-quality Colbert shirt.
haha, fun stuff, would maybe have liked it better to have Colbert, Jon Stewart, Bill Maher and maybe David Cross or some other amazingly prolific political truth-spiller as the four heads.

since when was American Apparel bad? sorry to detract from the shirt, but I wasn't aware that AA was "rubbish"...
Who picks the designs here? I've been watching this site for 5 months, and only liked one shirt enough to buy it. This isn't a slam against the artists. A lot of these designs are great, they just don't make good shirts. Perhaps Tee Fury could send out surveys to members to find out what people like. I'm just saying.

I think that what people "like" is very different from what "people will buy." I doubt that TeeFury would consistently print shirts that didn't sell well.

They don't consistently print shirts that don't sell well. They put up one design a day and print up the amount that's ordered.

I am aware of that, and think you misunderstood my point. I was saying that even though a design may get a lot of positive comments, it doesn't mean that it will sell a lot of shirts, as opposed to a design about which people complain (ex. pop-culture) that sells a ton. If I were running a business, my main priority would be to sell what sells well.
Love the idea, but like everyone else is saying it looks quickly done. Also, no glasses? That probably would help people recognize it's Colbert right off the bat.
Also I spy an Utada song design in the sideart ♥
I don't like it, Caitlin. But I don't know squat except how I feel and what I think when I look at something. However, I really like the 1st of the side art. The one with the eyes. Great job! Congrats on this printing and here's wishing you a healthy, safe and fulfilling 2010.

You're just one person though, so that you've only liked one shirt enough to buy it in 5 months doesn't mean all that much in the grand scheme of things. That isn't a slam, just saying.

The idea is great but the art seems...i dunno, there is just something wrong with the final product. I'm not sure what it is though...the colbert looks too tight to the rest of the faces maybe?
If I saw somebody wearing this shirt, I would ask them why they had a shirt of Bruce Campbell's head on a national monument. And I would have liked it better if it was Bruce. But the fact that it is Stephen Colbert and it looks nothing like him (other than that one eyebrow), makes it entirely unappealing to me.
The side art is great, but why this? It seems to lack time and effort in comparison.
This is cool but I'm actually much more in love with your other work! Please do put those images on shirts?
And on another note I just have to add my $0.03 on the "boob graphic" issue. Where else is the image supposed to go? Majority of images look good across the chest. Is not putting an image there somehow going to make people stop staring at yer boobage? Nope. Jus sayin.
No archives?! I was on vacation... and I couldn't check... I'm so sorry TeeFury... I promise it'll never happen again. I'll get one of those netbooks from Woot and take it wherever I go... please please just let me see what I missed :(

That would be true if I was the only person who posted a neutral or negative opinion about some of the design choices. This whole TeeFury concept is a cool thing. I'd just like to see a more democratic approach be applied toward what designs get choosen. I'm sure there are some people who would agree with me. Maybe I'm wrong.

I'm with Rev on this. I'm in the same boat, only purchased maybe two or three tees, and I've followed this site for a year, at least.
Tell us about this design: I did this back in 2008 when Colbert was actually running for president. I had to do an essay on which candidate I supported for my Government class, I wrote about Stephen Colbert, and I totally got an A+! I am a big fan of political satire, mainly because I can't stand it when people take themselves too seriously. Colbert makes us laugh at ourselves, which I believe automatically makes him the most qualified presidential candidate. Who cares about this "congressional" and "gubernatorial" business. What do they even do anyway?
Do you watch Colbert? Do you like him? I don't watch him as much as I used to because I'm an old lady who goes to bed before midnight. I am uncool. :(
Tell us about yourself: I'm Caitlin! I'm a 20 year old Graphic Design student from South Florida. I like jazz music and typography.
What's a day in the life of Caitlin like? I wake up at the crack of dawn, go to class for a few hours, rush to my soul-crushing financial job, come home drained and cynical and unhappy, and let out my frustration by painting multicolored naked ladies! Repeat, repeat, repeat.
If you had a million dollars, what would you do with it? I would buy a beachfront studio and a small army of corgis!
What would be your dream job? I'd love to design album covers and booklets for super cool experimental jazz musicians. My favorite thing to do visually interpret music.
Do you have any interesting hobbies or tales of intrigue? Sadly I am the least interesting artist ever. But rest assured, in the near future I'm going to quit my job, drink waaay too much, and act a complete fool! If I get another shirt on sale during that time I will have a super awesome answer to this question!
Any shout outs? sup: Andrew, Mummy, Daddy, Kenney, Nick, Reggie, Jaryd, Claire, Gretchen, Kyle, Jeff, DJ, Sean, and all the other awesome people who make my life very entertaining! <3

Colbert plays a spoof of a Bill O'Reiley-esque character, and spoofing a type of Fox News forum. John Stewart isn't in character in his show.

I take back my previous comment about this being un-mistakeable. This could definitely pass for Bruce Campbell on the cover art of Army of Darkness
