A word from the curator:
TeeFury old-timers might remember this one from a sidebar graphic last year! It was too late to run it before Christmas then, but your requests for this design have finally been answered :)
Tell us the background of this design.
A few years ago I made a shirt called "Where you At-At?" which was a simple one-color design that was a mashup of Boost Mobile's trademark, grammatically challenged, slogan. But like most things, it's usually an idea that comes up when I am laying awake in bed trying to turn off my head. This was one of those. Every year, I have tried to remember to get it into people's hands by Xmas, every year I make small changes to it, and every year I've forgotten until it's too late - UNTIL NOW! That happens a lot with me... sorry, & maybe next year, "Franken Says Relax"!
How would you describe your style?
I like stuff that makes me chuckle when I think of it, so I try to keep most of my stuff pretty lighthearted, even when it's an idea about war or blowing stuff up, like "War Hero" or "*Results Not Typical". I'm heavily influenced by kids cartoons, infographics, japanese art, and popular culture in general. I seem to like heavy lines, but I consciously try to break from that occasionally just to make sure I still can. Usually my stuff is a mashup of pop-culture references, because they are fun and accessible. I'm personally not a fan of the "scribbly lines with clipart angels" style that you see a lot now a days, but if people like it I say more power to them. It's all about making yourself and others happy, you know? And mad hamiltons.
If you could collaborate with anyone, who would you pick?
I'd be stoked to work with Richard Dawkins, Doug Chiang, BT, or MC Chris/Mc Hawking.
What historical figure do you most admire?
Probably Einstein or Darwin, or any great scientist really. My shirt "On the Shoulders of Giants" is essentially a tribute to them. Newton, as brilliant as he was, gets a negative from me because of the superstitions he had - but then again who wouldn't with that sort of stuff going through your head centuries ago?
If you weren't designing shirts, what would you be doing?
Writing movie scripts, DJing with Ableton Live, designing Container Homes, Skating or Snowboarding, but mostly hangin' with my wife and daughter.
Do you prefer Monopoly, Life, or Clue?
Clue, because that shiz is evidence based yo! Don't hate the player, hate Colonel Mustard in the Hall with a Pipe!
Black and white movies vs. black and white photography: which would win the battle?
What wins, a machine gun or a muzzle-loading musket? Seriously though, I'd say that photos force you to look at a subject in a specific way, and choose your shot with care. But with movies, it's easy to get sloppy. But in the hands of a talented photographer or cinematographer?Just ask yourself the last time you went to the "photographies". Yeah, thought so.
What is your favorite t-shirt color?
Personally, I like the light stuff like light blue, pink, etc. Generally, I like whatever makes the design look best, so it changes all the time.
What has been your favorite vacation or travel experience?
It used to be my honeymoon in Vancouver/Whistler with my wife, but it might be tied now with last year's Japan trip. I speak some Japanese, but rarely get to practice, so to go there and have it just start coming out of my head was a neat feeling. Also, the 'Boys & Girls' salon at the Shinjuku "Mylord" department store is the best haircut you'll ever get. It remains the only place our three year old girl has had one. I am going back with her in January to get her another (yes, that is serious).
Any shout outs?
My best buds Jake, Dave, Alex, and Chuck, my 6ft Homies, "R to The D to the Dawk" Richard Dawkins, my family, and as always my wife and daughter who mean more to me than anything.

I wish the lights on the tow cable were a little bigger and more cartoony, but the "look" on the walker's "face" is priceless.
Good jorb!

I have a slate shirt, and it isn't really "grey", as much as it is "blue grey". Personally, I too like the lighter colors, but I agree with Fury's color choice; a lot of dudes don't dig the frou-frou.
Thanks, folks, and enjoy.

I have a DTG version of this, and actually I wear it all the time...During the holidays, it's a timely joke and it connects that way, but the rest of the year it's just a silly shirt - no one looks at it funny, as they might if it was 8 AT-ATs pulling a sleigh with a red-cloaked emperor at the reins.........
Oh no. It just happened again.

now thats a shirt i want!! Todays design is freakin sweet though too. I'll sleep and think but right now my thoughts are that the size of the design is too small and awkwardly placed. Other shirts I've gotten with the design there are hidden when I'm wearing my jacket, and I'm always wearing a jacket in the winter. Gets cold :)
