that's shredder, the main bad guy from teenage mutant ninja turtles. he's eating turtle soup.

Loved the shirt the artist did for DBH. This one is hilarious and possibly just obscure(d) enough for me to buy it. I give you people too much money, though!
  • TurnThePaigesaid 115 weeks ago

    this shirt is quite....soupy.
    seeeeiiiindfeld :]
  • stablercakesaid 115 weeks ago

I think it's a funny idea, but to me the guy looks like he's a little...touched in the head, if you will pardon the expression. I honestly thought for a second that the joke was that he stole Shredder's clothes and armor.
  • Pung0said 115 weeks ago

Shredder is missing the scars on his face that he received from Master Splinter, but other than that its pretty dang awesome. Good Job Tora

And in the immortal words of Mikey

    "COWA BUNGA!!!!!"
  • wringzsaid 115 weeks ago

love it! would rather the design be a bit smaller on the shirt tho.
  • Muntoesaid 115 weeks ago

Had no idea what the hell this was about until I read someone's comment LOL but now I find it hilarious.

The Seinfeld reference on the right is pretty funny. As for tonite's shirt, if I hadn't read the comments, I would have no idea what it was.

I guess this site is not for me anymore. It seems it is all kid oriented stuff these days.
  • prattypussaid 115 weeks ago

I really like the idea, but I like to see more polished art. I know that's not everyone's taste- just airing mine- Oh, and I love that Shredder looks like Gilbert Godfried!!

  • torakamikazesaid 115 weeks ago

Hey doods! I'm enjoying the response thus far, but feel it's necessary to explain to those who aren't quite getting the reference.

If you're familiar with the ORIGINAL TMNT series, you should remember Shredder's class phrase "Tonight I dine on turtle soup". Part of me always wondered if he meant the phrase literally. Thus, I couldn't imagine a more perfect evening for him.

As far as the 'kid oriented' comment is concerned... the original series debuted in 1987. I'd like to think people considered kids were not born prior to that.

I think the scars were on the right side of his face anyways, which would not be visible in this drawing.

  • mattygeezsaid 115 weeks ago

The concept is great. The execution is a little flawed. The "Shredder" likeness is not there. He looks like a little boy.
  • Sirknifesalotsaid 115 weeks ago

LMFAO! I recognized it instantly and actually laughed out loud. If you watched TMNT then you know about Shredder saying, "Tonight I dine on turtle soup."
  • mattygeezsaid 115 weeks ago

Also, check out this artist's port. Me likes his stuffs.
  • Sirknifesalotsaid 115 weeks ago

I think the tee could've been executed better though. Shredder does look like a kid in this. Not sure if it was done on purpose or not? Also it looks like he's eating tomato soup.

The side comic is funny though.

Having never partaken of Turtle Soup, I can only guess what color it would be, but why green? Is their blood green like Vulcans?

I was 20 when the TMNT movie came out and managing a movie theatre next to a shopping mall. We had this movie forever. I easily got the Shredder reference and think its a great shirt.
  • FuzzyLogicsaid 115 weeks ago

Turtle Soup, as in most meat anything, isn't made from the skin, but rather the meat.

I wasnt an adult when this movie came out, I was born the same year as this awesomeness. This isnt Kid-Oriented either, it's nostalgic for people like me.
I think someone is just living up to their username.

OMFG! HAHA. So good. I did not know that. I know Corey Feldman voiced Donatello in the movie.
  • Sirknifesalotsaid 115 weeks ago

Also does anyone else think that Shredder was mad at the turtles cause Casey Jones was slamming April O'Neil?

I've ordered a few shirts from here, would like to order this one...

I think most of these comments have proved the kids have no clue about this reference. If anything this is a shirt for the late 20 - early 30 year olds....that's the age of the people that were present for the TMNT glory days.
  • courtney piesaid 115 weeks ago

    flipping aces!!!
  • saturninesaid 115 weeks ago

Whether you are currently an adolescent or an adult is beside the point. To many, the graphic references our childhood days, ergo it is "kid-oriented". And while there is much to be said of being in touch w/your inner child (at this time there happens to be a Wocket in my pocket), not everyone wants to wear it on their sleeve. Therefore some would like to see more sophisticated t-shirts instead of the continued pop culture references from years gone by.

Unless said pop culture reference would be Lewis Carroll (or Shel Silverstein or Roald Dahl or William Sleator).

If we had more legitimately good artistic designs that were submitted, we would print them. The hardest part about running a 24 hour site is having a pipeline of good art.

Despite the challenges, we balance and vary the genre of designs to attract a wide range of audiences. We have a nice selection of art and pop culture for the rest of the month. Sunday is a good day for art, as is next Wednesday.

Ya know, I'm not crazy about the style of art on this one, but to all the haters, if TF is consistently selling the number of shirts they need to seel to keep brining us a new NINE DOLLAR t-shirt each and ever day, even if only one in a dozen or so appeals to you (or me, or the next guy, or the...) so be it.

Though I only truly enjoy a small percentage of the offerings here, I must applaud TF for such an eclectic mix of designs and styles.

Jimiyo, I truly appreciate this reply. While I know not all shirts here can appeal to me personally, I was simply trying to shed some light on a comment other 'furians didn't seem to understand.

And I am much obliged to you for the tip. Are Sun. & Wed. typically more 'arty' days for shirts or is that only the case next week?

I would love to provide you with legitimately good artistic designs, alas, I have no artistic talent & am thus resigned to consuming rather than creating.

I posted the last comment before I read Jimiyo's comment about the two "artistic" shirts coming up. I also appreciate his position about only having what is submitted to choose from. I suppose designers see what has been printed lately and take their designs other places thinking they won't be appreciated by the Teefurians. Oh well....I'll keep checking every night in the hopes something will tickle my fancy.
