I love Watchmen, I loved the audacity of Joke, and I love Obama. To me, this shirt says a lot lol...but the first thing it said when I saw it was "BUY ME"....and so I will. Good job to the artist, I also bought your SFL shirt last time. Keep it up.
When I saw the twitter update, I was thinking along the lines of jimiyo's When Pandas Attack. This has too much blue and red for Rorschach imho and not as well-executed as TRAP.
stablercake said: As much as I adore Watchmen, I'm pretty tired of the Obama parodies.
Unless the next one is Cookie Monster, I'm not buying into it.
For once I agree. Not so much because of the tiredness of Obama parodies, but I rarely see original ones. For example, during the election there was a site set up explicitly for these parodies. The Rorscach one was one of the most popular on the site. I'm going to guess the same guy who did that didn't design this.
The smiley/obama button does kind of redeem this for me though. Takes it up the notch from internet-generated to graphic-designed.
Great idea and lovely execution. While I agree that the Obama parodies are getting a little played, this one is really nice. Especially considering Rorshach's lunatic anarchist leanings. I do wish it said something other than 'Watch' but I couldn't tell you what should be there instead. Sweet design.
stablercake said: As much as I adore Watchmen, I'm pretty tired of the Obama parodies.
Seconded.
Thirded. I have the Popmonkey Obama Brains, which meant I wasnt going to buy TRAP, and I'm not buying this. While I don't think it's bad work, I'm not have a closet full of JUST those Obama parodies.
And I agree with the artist. Conan kicked major ass! Even the soundtrack was great.
"That is strength, boy! That is power! What is steel compared to the hand that wields it? Look at the strength in your body, the desire in your heart, I gave you this! Such a waste. Contemplate this on the tree of woe. Crucify him!"
"You killed my mother! You killed my father, you killed my people! You took my father's sword... ah"
Subotai was awesome. Master thief and archer. Ok sorry for the rant. They were going to make a third Conan movie but like Arnold got elected govenator or some Voyager.
Hardly "24 hours and gone forever"... you can buy it off the designers Redbubble page and have been able too for a while. I have bought it already and have been wearing it for weeks :) great design btw.

thanks, but, i think i'll wait to see if teefury actually does it (if jimiyo isn't just getting my hopes up), 'cause nine dollars looks a lot better than twenty-three. ;)
Already been done but i guess copying someone elses work from earlier this year is the cool thing to do.

Did you read the article?
It's HIS artwork parody. They even state his artistic name.
"Perhaps Hart can avoid such woes. The Florida-based artist behind famousafterdeath designs talked with Wired.com about his geeky T-shirt designs, which range from rad robots to timely topics like Christian Bale’s meltdown on the Terminator Salvation set. "
You made up for printing Gamera on a shirt when I'm broke by printing this on payday. Thanks.
I wonder how many people would have any clue who this was if the movie didn't exist. The "watch" tag gets creepy when you know what the movie left out.
Great idea, although it could have said something different. "watch" is the most obvious of course and brings to mind watchmen immediately, which is fine and all.
My two cents, "hurm" would've been better.
So... I bought the TRAP shirt because I LOVE admiral Ackbar, as well as because I DONT love Obama. Obama=TRAP. Duh. Why are people buying these shirts because they LIKE Obama? The messages clearly read otherwise.
I would have bought this if the comedian's pin had stayed yellow with the red blood spot. I see no point in making it look like the obama logo. Changing the pin makes it more like commentary than a parody.
Uchihashirubi said: So... I bought the TRAP shirt because I LOVE admiral Ackbar, as well as because I DONT love Obama. Obama=TRAP. Duh. Why are people buying these shirts because they LIKE Obama? The messages clearly read otherwise.
I disagree. I don't think all the variations on the HOPE design are anti-obama. Zombama, cashing in on the popular zombie craze. Trap, no reference to Obama, except the template- trap was a key phrase for him, it was four letters, and there you go.
I don't know how much of these really represent policital beliefs.
You know, if you go back and read the comments under the Street Fighter shirt, everyone was whining about wanting this, and now that we have it, everyone's whining.
Can't please the masses, apparently.

I actually want to talk to the guy that did the Cookie Monster design I've seen and see if he'll submit it, it was in one of my classes for an assignment and one of the few Obama parodies that made me laugh out loud.
I wish I could wear this to a Sarah Palin book signing. All the sign-toting 'tards in line would be high-fiving me 'cuz it's obviously a Big Brother slam on our President who used to "pal around with terrorists."

Yeah, it's one of my favourite comics ever. I've read it dozens of times. Obviously, political theory isn't my strong point. By calling Rorschach a lunatic anarchist, I was only meaning to say that he was extreme. Hardcore, self-sufficient, off the grid, and bananas. But in a good way. You're totally right, he's much more of an extreme conservative/fascist than an anarchist. My bad.

I just don't get why people return day after day solely to complain about the design.
(Just for reference, I AM tired of Obama parodies. I'm not an Obama fan, and had went through the motions of buying this until I saw that the Comedian's pin was the campaign symbol.)

This design was created by using the stylized stencil technique made famous by Shepard Fairey's Obama "Hope" Poster. So after seeing James Lillis's "Joke" design, which parodied the "Hope" poster; I wanted to take on the challenge of creating a parody design for the first time. Like so many others, I was anxiously waiting for the watchmen movie to release and felt it was a perfect time to use Rorschach in my design. Your SFL did really well as a first time submission to Teefury. How was the experience?
This was the greatest experience I have ever had as a designer. The entire process was amazing from beginning to end. The interview was funny and allowed me to share myself with the Teefury community. Reading the critiques and learning from them gave an invaluable amount of knowledge on what society is looking for in style and design. I couldn’t stop checking the sales tracking website on my phone. I was refreshing it every chance I got. This has also helped expose me as a designer to a market that, by myself, I would never be able to reach. Teefury has helped me in so many ways that I could never show enough gratitude. Thank-you Teefury.com.
"Aside from enjoying being a newlywed, I play video games." What games do you play? What's your favorite top three of all time, all consoles.
I try to play every game I can possibly get my hands on. But I would have to say adventure games are my favorite genre. A good story line in a video game is like reading a book or watching a movie while being the character also interests me. My favorite games are as follows:
1. Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver (Series) Playstation 1 & 2
It’s the best adventure game I have ever played. You play as a half zombie half vampire bent on revenge. The voice casting is some of the best around. It’s just an all around entertaining experience. I liked it so much that MTVU interviewed me about my obsession with the series, filmed me get the main character tattooed on my right arm. Then let me be the first to play the third game I the series. The tattoo just adds to the geeky Playstation controller buttons tattooed to my wrists.
2. IQ (Intelligent Cube) Playstation 1
It’s a rare and hard to find a Playstation One puzzle game. I was introduced to it as a demo but I eventually played the game until the disk melted. I am still hunting one down that doesn’t cost a ridiculous amount of money.
3. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (Prestige Edition) Xbox 360
First off, it came with night vision goggles. So before I even played the game, it was fun to walk around my house in the dark. The game is simply beautiful. On and offline it’s a masterpiece.
If money was not a concern, and you didn't have to have a job, what would you do?
I would travel the world with my wife. We would explore every inch of earth, experience every culture known to mankind and eventually grow old knowing we have done everything possible there is to do in life.
What is Arnold Schwarzenegger's best movie role ever? Once you answer this, it will become common knowledge and absolute truth, and no one shall ever deny it.
CONAN!!! (Both films) That movie was bodacious. No CGI crud every other scene. Pure 100% BRUTAL Entertainment. They don’t make real movies like Conan any more. I love a revenge story when a slave gets his home boys together, bashes evil and lives to tell the tale. I’m going to watch it tonight.
If you were stranded on an island, would you want to be on the Lost Island, Gilligan's Island, or the realm of Dungeons and Dragons with Verger always hounding you?
Gilligan’s Island. For one reason and one reason alone, Ginger. That’s why I married a red head. Gingers… it’s where it’s at.
Any interesting things ever happen to you? Like be on ‘Wheel of Fortune’?
I was on webRIOT, the MTV game show, in the late 90’s and won the grand prize that consisted of a one week trip to Hawaii. I was also featured in Playstaion Magazine Euro edition for a Resident Evil 4 Munny I created. You know the usual stuff… Any shout outs?
To my beautiful wife, Jamie, I love you. To my family, thank- you for all your support in my art work. And to my sister Jackie, thanks for kicking me into gear and helping me to apply myself in the design world.
