You know, I'd love to give you money, I dig the charity and awesome movie madness stuff that going on over on the side. I really want to give you my money. Seriously though, I hate Star Wars and enough is enough. Can you stop now teefury? This isn't a starwars fan site, there are other movies, many many other movies. Mix it up a little!!!! Anything Tarantino or Kevin Smith comes on here I will nerdgasm and buy it instantly.
I cant say much considering Ive never seen cheers but I love the cantina idea. and ive seen that table on a list of awesome tables, too bad we cant get it on a tee.

This is wonderfing (new word of the day) but I don't have any shoes to wear with it. Ahh, sometimes I wish I were a man, and were required only one pair of shoes :)

thanks for the kudos guys! (and hey, not everyone needs to love Star Wars like some of us do) Interesting suggestion about doing a shirt with the Carbonite Desk... may have to think on that!

Kudos for going for it. I think it will be a stretch for most people, but might start some conversations. Is that meant to be the saber-severed hand? If so, or even if not, showing the whole arm might have been more effective. The Aliens/1977 reference threw me...my first thought was Close Encounters of the Third Kind, but that just made it more confusing.

i have seen that han solo desk before but i never knew who made it! well done, mr. spina, well done indeed!
i cant get behind this shirt tho...i adore star wars but id rather save the $11.70 by passing on this cream colored shirt, and start saving for that desk...haha!
I like the idea, I just don't want people to glance at my chest and walk away thinking I'm wearing a Cheers shirt. I mean I don't mind being a geek but I don't want to be seen as a complete Dork.
I like the idea too.... But I dont think it serves as a good Cheers reference... It lacks the marquee, it sould've said "Salud" instead of "Cantina" and I don't get wookie hand from that illustration... I would've thought it was a MashedPotato with "Teen Wolf"...

PS. LOVE THAT DESK THOUGH!
Thanks on the desk!
BTW, no worries if you're not seeing "wookie" on that hand... cus it's not supposed to be a wookie hand :)
The hand is based on the one obi-wan chops off walrusman (which did look a bit like a werewolf hand). Not really supposed to be his whole arm or anything just a bit of hand and cuff like on the Cheers sign...

Hahah--wait...is that supposed to be a joke?
I can never tell in text format 8|
You laughed didn't you? Haha. Yes yes, know not to take me seriously like 90% of the time.
I didn't "get" the references at first either... not to say you have to "get" a shirt in order to value it, but in this case I think the design is a little bland when standing on its own, regardless of its pop culture references... I don't wanna sound like too Debby Downer haha.. but maybe if the arm were actually severed and bloody (like in the movie) or if the Cheers logo included its border/containing shape/capsule I'd be more clued into either reference.
Maybe anyway, I think Cheers was slightly before my generation, so I might not be the target demographic of this shirt either...
xylotism said: Might as well change the name to Lucasfury now.
This one isn't even slightly amusing. If I wanted bad joke tees, I'd go to shirt.woot.com.
Sorry, but it's clear someone at Fury loves Star Wars a little too much.
That someone is the customer. Check out the top 10 highest selling tees. 3 of them are Star Wars related. And I would bet that other Star Wars tees are in the top 20.
Personally, I don't know why people get so worked up over seeing shirts they don't like, even if it's for a week. You know you don't HAVE to buy shirts every week don't you? Chill out and wait for one you want. Maybe it'll take a while, but so? It's going to be okay.
I honestly don't see what all the uproar is about. So what they've had 3 Star Wars related shirts within the past 3 weeks. Its one day a week. If you don't like what you see today, come back tomorrow.
If you look at the archives you will notice that before the 'Trap' Tee, there weren't many Star Wars Tees. Look over the archives and you'll see the last tee was beginning of October and August and then May before it...
They sell because tons of people love Star Wars. So what if they don't rock your boat. like I said before, there will be a new one tomorrow.

No, they don't sell because there's so much of it, they sell because Star Wars is easily one of the most popular franchises on the planet. We're getting them because artists are making them and people are buying them.
Just because some people don't like something doesn't make it a waste of time or not "real work". Shirts are going to come and go that we all don't like, I don't see the big deal. It's just a t-shirt shop, I think people should relax a little. Maybe go watch a funny show or something. All the constant internet complaining is just a little bit tiresome.
Wrong! Wrong! Wrong! If it's supposed to be the Cantina from Mos Eisley, which we were first introduced to in the movie Star Wars, but the movie itself is set "A Long Time Ago", then to say that it was established in 1977 is COMPLETELY incorrect. Not to mention the fact that the cantina appeared to have been around for a while before Luke et al went inside. I'm just saying...
Yeah, but Star Wars came out in 1977. So in a way, it was established in 1977.
My deal (aside from the werewolf hand that I couldn't quite recognize until reading some comments) is that it was *a* cantina in Mos Eisley. It might have even been *the* cantina in Mos Eisley. But was it's name 'Cantina'? Did it even have a name other than The Mos Eisley Cantina? That's sort of like saying 'The bar on the corner of 5th and Main'.
I love me some Star Wars shirts. This is a good idea but it fell just shy of the mark for me.

Just because you receive Star Wars artwork doesn't mean you have to put it on a tee. I imagine there are plenty of good designs that don't make the final cut on TF. The complaining is due to the fact that there are entire sites devoted to making Star Wars shirts. The fact that TF is basically doing 1 Star Wars tee every week now is off putting. And yes I liked watching Star Wars WAY before it was trendy. But I wasn't going to wear a Star Wars tee then and I'm probably not going to now.

They don't have to put ANYTHING on a tee, but why shouldn't they if people like it and they like it? It may be offputting to you, and the people who comment, but you guys seem like a minority if we're looking at sales.
And you don't really know what isn't making the cut at Teefury, do you? So it's hard to complain that they're passing up better designs.
My only point is so what? Them printing a lot of Star Wars tees isn't doing anybody any harm, you don't have to buy them. So I don't understand why people complain when it's not really that serious. It's just t-shirts. You don't go into McDonald's and complain about too many cheeseburgers and not enough fish sandwiches. The internet has spawned a culture of complaining though, if it wasn't one thing it would be another. All Teefury can do is sell t-shirts. We can buy them or not buy them, and I'm not saying people shouldn't voice their opinion, but it seems like people take t-shirts way too seriously.
Look guys, Jimiyo already said that he's been looking for other things besides Star Wars, at least as far as nerdy scifi stuff goes, so if you're all going to throw such a fit then MAKE SOMETHING YOURSELF! or encourage someone you know to.

This argument is so worthless it barely warrants a response. We are customers and come to buy shirts. I, for one, can't draw a line. It's preposterous for you to tell us to stop making requests for different things.

Sorry, but it's my humble opinion that making a request for change is different than whining day in and day out. All I'm saying is, have some patients or make the changes you want to see. Even I'm tired of all the SW shirts, at least for a little while, but it's nothing to get worked up about. Come back tomorrow and see whats new.
biotwist said: how can anyone say they watched starwars before it was trendy?
Because even though Star Wars might have been big before it wasn't as oversaturating as it is now. If you liked Star Wars in the past you were a nerd. Now if you like Star Wars it's not big thing. That was the point.
Yes I don't have to buy a Star Wars tee. You're correct. I also don't have to come on TF if Star Wars tees become the norm. People might take tees too seriously but I think it stems from what TF was and what it's becoming. A site that sells parody shirts. And no I don't want to go to DBH. I'm simply stating my point and the point of others.

I like Star Wars, but wouldn't buy a tee with anything Star Wars on it. Just not my style. To all the whiners about Star Wars just give it a rest already. Star Wars is, was and will always be popular in American culture. And teefury would be stupid not to capitalize on its forever popularity.

It would seem that most of you need to watch the Movie again.... It would seem to me that the Hand on the t-shirt design was the one that Ben Kenobi cut off which was supposed to be (Walrus Man)Ponda Baba's severed hand.

You are forgetting that it also takes place in a galaxy far, far away. I would assume they probably don't base their years on the birth of someone on earth, or even the revolutions of the earth around it's sun. This isn't even considering that the shirt is in English.
So in order for this shirt to have been COMPLETELY correct by your logic, it would have to be in another language no one could read and have a date no one would know what it meant.

I figured that this part went without saying. I decided to give it some suspension of disbelief, especially since the movie WAS made in English.
Star Wars and Cheers: The mashup you never knew you needed until it was right in front of your face. Stealth geek chic is the wave of the future!
Tell us about this design:
I love a good “stealth geek” shirt. Something that most folks will think just looks cool but the geeks will get. Plus, I love those Star Wars cantina monsters so this parody just seemed like a natural design for me to submit! Special thanks to Robb DeNicola for helping me with the image formatting. Please note: A portion of the artist's proceeds will be going to the Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research.
Tell us about yourself:
I love old movies, monsters and masks. I'm primarily a sculptor, with a specialty in restoring movie props and creating unique displays. And with the help of artists like Richard Riley and others, my company has created some really cool displays, theme props and groovy furniture art like the infamous Han Solo in Carbonite Desk.
What inspires you?
Quite a bit! I'm actually inspired by just about anyone that has ideas and finds a way to make them real; folks who work and create things and just plain get stuff done. The artists I work with never fail to inspire me and a good brainstorm session can't be beat in my opinion. I think you've got to be made of stone not to be affected by old Jim Henson stuff and the cascade of wild creativity that his group embodied. As mentioned above, I'm a sucker for a good rubber monster, so I often draw inspiration from the movie makeup effects artists that bring those to life. Ooh, and I dig the artist, Shag!
How did you get into art?
I think like a lot of folks, it just always was. I can't remember a time where I wasn't pushing around clay or drawing or making Halloween decorations (all year round!). I can say that I've got no doubt that my interests were really sparked when I was 5 or so and Star Wars and the Muppet Show were just IT for me. Even as a kid I knew I wanted to make stuff like that.
What would be your dream job?
I'm one of the luckiest guys on earth because I've got it. My own business, working with some incredibly talented artists, making cool things. If I had to pick my dream “project”, I've been lucky enough to have a few of those... at the moment, restoring the original Rick Baker wolf costume from An American Werewolf in London is a standout.
What are a few of your favorite websites?
Too many to list so I'll just say www.TeeFury.com!
Do you have any interesting hobbies or tales of intrigue? Do tell!
Not much intrigue in my world I'm afraid! Hobby-wise, I collect movie props and wardrobe. Many an amazing piece of artwork has been created in the name of making movies. Plus, there's no more direct connection to a film you love than to have a bit of it and be able to say, “there it is” on screen!

I'm not a fan of star wars... so I really feel like I'm missing out on a lot of days.
How about some more obscure/not well known topics/subjects to bring more attention to those subjects?
Like Oddworld! I LOVE Oddworld :)
Or... Okami,
Or Giger's Alien,
Or... other stuff.
I don't know.
I'm sure everyone could suggest something better.
But... I'd love to see at least a full week without anything star wars related :|
stablercakesaid 117 weeks ago
Hahah--wait...is that supposed to be a joke?
I can never tell in text format 8|

Oddworld! Okami! Giger!
Great stuff!
Would love to see something in that genre. Custom artwork of course.

Thanks on the desk!
BTW, no worries if you're not seeing "wookie" on that hand... cus it's not supposed to be a wookie hand :)
The hand is based on the one obi-wan chops off walrusman (which did look a bit like a werewolf hand). Not really supposed to be his whole arm or anything just a bit of hand and cuff like on the Cheers sign...
best,
Tom

Maybe anyway, I think Cheers was slightly before my generation, so I might not be the target demographic of this shirt either...

Forgot about Spacebook in September, but still.

Cool idea for a shirt, though.

This is a good idea but it fell just shy of the mark for me.

this particular one might appeal to some more of the closet star wars fans, as well as the ones that have come out, as its not so obvious
Sirknifesalotsaid 116 weeks ago
Just because you receive Star Wars artwork doesn't mean you have to put it on a tee. I imagine there are plenty of good designs that don't make the final cut on TF. The complaining is due to the fact that there are entire sites devoted to making Star Wars shirts. The fact that TF is basically doing 1 Star Wars tee every week now is off putting. And yes I liked watching Star Wars WAY before it was trendy. But I wasn't going to wear a Star Wars tee then and I'm probably not going to now.

thestraysaid 116 weeks ago

Aside from all the bickering...
I don't really like this shirt. Mostly because there is nothing in the universe I dislike more than Natural tees. bleh.
Can't believe I forgot to get the R2 manual shirt.. :'(
KyleMittskussaid 116 weeks ago
This argument is so worthless it barely warrants a response. We are customers and come to buy shirts. I, for one, can't draw a line. It's preposterous for you to tell us to stop making requests for different things.

That is Just KHAAAAAAAN Funny… I don’t care who you are….or what you draw…
happytunasaid 116 weeks ago
Sorry, but it's my humble opinion that making a request for change is different than whining day in and day out. All I'm saying is, have some patients or make the changes you want to see. Even I'm tired of all the SW shirts, at least for a little while, but it's nothing to get worked up about. Come back tomorrow and see whats new.

I'm honored! Thank you so much! I'd like to thank my Aunt Connie for taking me to see the movie when it came out. (Oh, and my parents for making sure that I'd remain a nerd for the rest of my life.)

I figured that this part went without saying. I decided to give it some suspension of disbelief, especially since the movie WAS made in English.

To Star Wars Hatas: It'll be OK. I'm sure there will be a bird in a tree here, or other high art in short order.
