As far as the progression of humans on the shirt goes, the spear is generally representative of when humans gained the ability to utilize tools. It's been a long time since that's happened, to be sure, but the 4th iteration is a) walking upright (his legs look slightly stunted, but it may just be in comparison to Wolverine's crazy comic book legs) and b) possesses the capability of using tools. We've made a ton of advancement as far as WHAT tools we use since the spear, but it would probably be redundant to have another man of the same approximate proportions with a more advanced tool. Plus, it looks better on the shirt if they're bigger, because the joke comes across more clearly.

Just my thoughts on the design, but then again I like it so I suppose I'm biased. I guess anyone with an opinion sort of is, though.

I'm going to use how Pokemon evolve to serve as an example of why I think that the artist didn't put the modern man. You know when you get an Eevie in the game from some guy, and you get to choose if he evolved into Vaporeon, Jolteon, or Flareon? Maybe that's what happened. Either that or it doesn't really matter at all... I'm gonna go with the latter.

Hey man, I'm just pointing out the facts from the comics. Jeph Loeb's origin story clearly states that there's always a blonde lupine vs a dark-haired lupine and their lives are controlled by Romulus. Lupines have evolved, so they could look human too. Thomas Logan was probably lupine thanks to this weird storyline. They haven't explained the retractable claws in relation to the lupine thing (maybe part of his mutated gene) and I'm not saying this storyline doesn't have plot holes, nevertheless it's still in the comics. So right now the dark-haired lupine is Wolverine, and the rival blonde lupine is Wild Child (cuz Sabretooth died). I think this was all in Wolverine vol 3 #55.

Sorry this was a little off subject of the tee, but it's still about Wolvie.
