I am very, very upset by this. Jimi is by far someone I listen to for hours a day. I consider him to be far beyond anyone who has ever tried to touch music on a spiritual level. While I understand this is art, I feel that it directly discredits and makes a cartoon of the greatest musician of all time.
That bottom sideart picture was printed here before but it wasn't quite the same. Guitar has been added in along with other things. Called "Noise Pollution".
I don't really get it. I mean I could understand it if it was someone from The Who (with their whole Pinball Wizard and Tommy and stuff)... but just seems like a weird mix with Hendrix.
the concept is a little confusing to me and the style of the drawing seems kind of amateur,as if drawn by a small child, but by looking at your great side art you are obviously a better artist and you can do better. i have to say that i do like the color combo. really love the tentacle robot and the wino robot.
To say that drugs demean Jimi Hendrix is well... it's honestly dumb. His drug use and that of his peers was an inseperable part of the culture he was involved in. I'm not saying his insane amount of talent came from psychedelics, but it's not something you can remove from his image. Besides, the image only vaguely resembles Jimi Hendrix and more fits the bill of just a random 70s arena rock guitarist and a period pinball machine.
And really, this isn't the Queen or the Pope or someone's mother we're talking about. The guy isn't sacred. I'd think Hendrix would find this humorous, himself.

Perhaps you should try to consider that this is a tribute to Jimi. The artist used his lyrics to create a visual representation of what he imagines when he hears them. I think that any attempt to convey what you think about when you hear a song should be regarded as art. I'm sure Jimi wouldn't be as close-minded to the idea behind this design, he would probably have interest in the fact that an artist was willing to take the time to express their idea of what his music is saying. Lighten up, I'm sure if you asked Jimi... or John, Paul, George, and Ringo (for another example) if they would be offended by somebody creating something that honors their talent, they would feel honored instead of disappointed. Can I hear an "Amen" from my fellow TeeFurians?

Well, that's debatable. He's the queen or the Pope or someone's mom (metaphorically) to a lot of people. Personally, I don't think "Hey Joe you got a high score" is especially well written but whatever. I didn't like the last Hendrix shirt and I can't say I like this one much either but I'm happy that he's still on shirts this many years later in any case.

I love this design. It is fun and light-hearted. Life is about poking fun of lots of things--everything and everybody. The halftone patterns are really well used.
Hey guys, thanks for all the comments.
This design is just meant to be fun, nothing serious. I'm not trying to ridicule Jimi, or anything, I just combined two things I really like and made it into a really random design.
Well ok, I lied, JonBowVault is onto me. Does anyone have a big truck I could borrow? I need to bring these manitees back to the headquarters.
i see why people are getting uppity about this design. trust me, i worship hendrix too. BUT, instead of getting into an internet argument, just don't buy the shirt, huh?
Its only a five string to give more clearance for the looseness of the strings- or its Artistic License !!! ---There is that License thing again, we are so regulated

You're right. Thank you for telling me what I was thinking. I was confused all together. Its a shame they deleted the post about how this artist probably hasn't every before heard Hendrix because he won't turn off the DMB. Like I said, this is art. I can debate it. In no way did I offend the artist, so I don't know why some of you are getting your panties in a bundle over what I said.
Hold on, who said I never even heard Hendrix? Why the heck would you think I'd make a Hendrix tee if I'd never listened to it? SleepingBeauty I love his music.
Kind of a ridiculous comment if you ask me.
I'd love for you to show me which concert of his that you have seen where he is wearing a watch. And the man used drugs to experiment with his music, not for some joke. This song had meaning to him. It was almost about himself. Look up Hey Joe at Isle of Wight. Tell me if the feeling he put into that song is in some way related to the cartoon you put on this shirt.
Wow.
You really shouldn't make such a big deal out if this.
Who cares if he wore a watch or not? I like his music, I don't know every single detail of his life. You really shouldn't look into the meaning of what I designed here, cause I sure as heck didn't. There is no deeper meaning, as you could have read in the description. I like pinball, I like Hendrix. I combined em.
You seem to think he was holy or whatever. I just liked his music. You should chill out and don't take everything so freaking serious.
I really like this design, I was having a pretty bad day and it made me giggle! :)

Omg dude you're hilarious!
Of all the aspect of this shirt the watch is the one detail you question! Not the smoke forming words, or the 'macaroni arms' with no elbows, or the pinball machine playing itself, or inded the fact he's half pinball machine, cos I tell you I haven't ever seen any of that stuff in his concerts!
Someone needs to go outside and have some life! ;)

That's not a watch, but who cares about a stinkin watch. The man was awesome.
The Jimi Hendrix Pinball machine, fulfilling everyone's fantasies of "pulling" Jimi at long last... =X (probably going to get moderated... hey! it's subtle??)

End of story.
I Am Hurt!!! - Some of us have worked very hard for years to be in a position to not only force people to wear but to purchase tee shirts(These are not the droids you are looking formove along)
wow there is a ton of anger here today. Pretty entertaining but Summerblonde04 is right, you guys need to calm down. If its really pissing you off just go somewhere else. Problem solved. If that isn't going to work for you, make your own shirt site and just sell your own hendrix designs. Im sure his estate would love that.
Yeah I don't even listen to Hendrix and I want this shirt. Awesome... I love the pun more than words can describe. And the art style is perfect for the concept. Great work!!!
Wow- I feel dirty and much more likely to punch my dogs after reading all of this bile. I love everyone- even the guys that threatened me due to my costume.
A word from the curator: I'm a huge pinball fan- growing up, my dad had one in the basement and we all spent a lot of loud afternoons flipping those paddles in an attempt to claim the high score (and the fame that would surely follow). Years later, the memories haven't faded and neither has our love of the game- my sister has her own pinball machine now, and we're still spending hours chasing that same goal of a perfect game. Long live the arcade, let's keep that metal ball rolling!
Tell us the background of this design. There's no real story behind this, it's just one of my random mindblurbs. I wanted to do a pinball shirt, because pinballmachines are awesome. Then I figured, what's more awesome than a pinballmachine? A living pinballmachine. Combined it with Jimi Hendrix, and voila, you got yourself a really random design. What do you want TeeFury fans to know about you? I really really don't like cheese. Like, really. What do you absolutely not want them to find out? The fact that I'm secretly a robot might disturb a few people, so let's not tell em that. Name a few of your favorite things. Oldschool games, drawing, french fries, vikings, robots, t-shirts, peanut butter, pie, being an idiot, really random stuff. What are your feelings about the moon? The moon is cool. But it better not be spying on us, or I'll shoot a rocket in its eye. Do you prefer Mario, Sonic, or Halo? Mario. He's an italian plumber who is going on an adventure to save a princess, and while he does it he kills turtles, trips out on mushrooms and shoots fire. That a whole lot more awesome than a blue superfast hedgehog or a space marine dude. I mean, sure, Sonic and Halo were both fun, and I'm sure I've played Halo more and more intensely than Mario, but still, mario wins. Pen vs. sword: which would win the battle? Sword, easily. Swoop slash swing and the pen is in pieces, spilling all the ink inside. What's the pen gonna do? Write 'I'm retarted' on the sword, and draw silly pictures? Sounds like an easy guess to me. Describe your favorite shirt that you own, and why you like it so much. Either 'Shoot the baddies' by Olly Moss (wearing that one as I type this), or 'Spiritual Symphony Fin' by Jeff Battocletti, both at Threadless. I just really really like how both of the prints look on the shirt. Both are one color prints. I think one color prints, when done right, are freakin awesome. The subjects are both cool too. A load of bad guys as shooting targets? Nice. A rockband made of gods/religious figures? Nice! Which is better, gaming, reading, or watching movies? Name your favorite title in your chosen medium. Hmm. I enjoy all three. Ultimately I'd say a good book. It's just much more open to your own interpretation, you visualize the story in your head. But you really have to take your time for a book. I used to love just diving into a book, reading for hours upon hours. Haven't done that in a while.
But on the other hand, seeing someone elses interpretation of a story on a big screen is also very awesome. There are so many genius minds in the world of film, I really enjoy watching the products of their imagination. The two people whose movies I really enjoy are Tarantino and Burton. They do their own thing, and pretty much every movie they've made is fucking awesome.
Favorite movie. That's hard. I'd say it's a tie between Reservoir Dogs, Boondock Saints, Pulp Fiction, The Big Lebowski, Pans Labyrinth and Sin City. I really can't name one best movie. There are so many awesome movies out there. What inspires your work? Anything can spark something in my brain. A story someone told me, a set of colors, a movie, somebodies art, a couple of words.
I love to browse through the awesome work of some people at Emptees, or Conceptart. Lot's of eyecandy there. Any shout outs? Moo!
Also, check out my new project, http://www.hereberobots.com. Yeah I'm shouting out to myself. Awesome. HEY DUDE! Hey man, whats up? Oh not alot, just getting interviewed and stuff. Cool cool. You should stop talking to yourself now. Aw alright. Seeya. Bye.
By the time this interview gets posted I should have things up and running. If not, stay tuned, haha.
