Words from the curator:
I knew this would get a nod from Jimiyo. Love the handdrawn quailty and the the slight double-take, is he angry or happy?
Tell us about this design:
Besides my penchant for drawing mostly creepy imagery, and choosing a moniker like “DCAY”, I always enjoy creating artwork outside my usual norm, and I think this piece is a nice example. I’ve been wanting to do more illustrations with long, flowing hair, and I thought what better figure to try than a on the main of a lion.
Tell us about yourself:
I'm a cybernetic organism. Living tissue over METAL endoskeleton. Oh yea, I make artwork for you to wear on your body, too. You can hire me, if you’d like, and I can make something pretty for YOU *points finger*
What do you want Teefury fans to know?
For those who really enjoy my work, I’m in the process of printing up some personal pieces that I have wished to create for some time now. They are available to buy in my webstore on my portfiolio page. Keep on the look out! I’ll be debuting some new designs there every month or so, and every order comes with some extra goodies!
Do you own alot of shirts? If so, what's your favorite?
Oh yes, I own a ton of shirts. I’d have to say my new favorite would be a souvenir that I recently picked up from my first ever trip to Hollywood. I went to a famous eatery know as “Roscoe’s House of Chicken & Waffles”, and before even getting there, I knew I had to get a shirt from there! I lucked out… they actually did have shirts and I think I picked up the last in my size. Just so you Teefurian’s have a mental image of it, their logo is a chicken in a cowboy hat standing in front of a huge waffle. It’s glorious!
What inspires you?
I find a lot of inspiration in the different ways that I can take ideas or certain subjects and put little twists on them in my art. I think it’s fun taking something familiar and spicing it up with an interesting twist. This usually involves delving back to my childhood and imagining the things that I was into back then (cartoons, music, films) and recreating them into something fresh (or dead).
How did you get into art?
I have been an artist all of my life. It always came natural for me. Some of my earliest memories of my art career were drawing my favorite cartoons in sketchbooks as a kid in elementary school. I’d take my favorite characters and make little comic strips to give to friends and family for their birthdays and special occasions, like my own personal greeting cards and messages.
Where would you like to see yourself in 5 years with your art career or other?
I love that my current art career has me doing a lot of apparel and merchandise design, but I’m looking forward to branching out some into other outlets. I’d love to do more print illustration, for instance, doing artwork for magazines, books, posters, etc. I’d also love to do more artwork for CD layouts for the recording industry. Those are always fun projects to work on. It would be neat to design an album cover that people remember for years to come.
What would be your dream job?
Seeing that right now I work predominately in T-shirt design, I’d say that if I had a chance to be a lead designer at one of my favorite clothing lines… that would be pretty dreamy. I can’t really pick a specific company or brand really, but I just think it would a pretty cool gig.
What advice would you offer to aspiring designers?
Patience is truly a virtue. If you know for sure that designing is the career you were meant for, then stick with it. That means, you have to keep cranking out work and you have to have an online presence (like a portfolio or place where you display your work). In the very beginning, you probably are not going to make the $$$ you want, or specifically, the $$$ that you deserve for your work. However, if you keep at it, refine your talent and find your voice in your artwork, you will succeed.
MAC or PC?
Mac, all the way. Those who aren’t, I strongly encourage it.
What are a few of your favorite websites?

www.sleevage.com
www.lambgoat.com
www.dcay.bigcartel.com
Any shout outs?
Thanks to Teefury! I really love this site and am very happy that I can continually return here to show my artwork and hopefully gain a few new fans. Specifically though, major thanks to AJ for helping curate this beast, plus a nod to Jimiyo, because I know he has always enjoyed this piece of mine ;-)

I agree with turnthepaige about the colors... but im just gonna simply spray mine so it does look bright and colorful... like a rainbow mane.

Something about it just made me want to wear it.
Maybe because it looks more like the lion is belting out a heavy metal face-melter than just plain roaring.
