Words from jimiyo: I had the pleasure of meeting Wotto recently. He is jolly and is beaming with youthful enthusiasm. That seems to be personfied in his whimsical art. If you are unfamiliar with Wotto's work, today's a great day to start your future collection. Get some!
What have you been up to Mr Wotto?!
Well I have been a busy boy, I have been designing my own line of footwear for the UK company www.kingsofneon.com, which has been a lot of fun. I am also working on some furniture designs which I cannot say too much about right now. As always I still churn out T-shirt designs regularly and I have some new releases coming out later this year.
You seemed to have really established yourself as an artist with your
own unique style and voice in the last few years. How long did it take
to get there and can you give us some insight on your journey?
It all started way back when I was a little boy and all I wanted to do was draw. I have tried other things but I always come back to that original goal. I have established a style over many years of soaking up art and experiences, it takes a long time and many hours of drawing. I've been at this over 10 years! As you know Jimiyo, with most things hard work and dedication are the only way to achieve success. Over the past two years I have
committed myself to my work 24/7. I work non-stop and I always want to work some more. 24hours in a day is just not enough for me. Also for me the journey never ends, at the height of Picasso's career he was producing up to 6 paintings a day, he painted right til the very end and never stopped reinventing his style. Now that's some inspiration.
What's the future?
Well I have just applied for permanent residence in the United States of America so my future may very well involve flipping burgers. I recently got married and the next move would be some mini wotto's, I like that idea. As for work, just keep on keeping on.
I've also noticed that you seem to have a heart for charity and
community and helping young people. Is this right? Can you tell us
more?
Yeah, I like doing stuff for charities because life is shit for so many people and everyone needs a hand with things. I have donated two designs to charities this year, www.makebeatsnotbeatdowns.com (a none profit trying to stop bullying) and Faith21 who sponsor young people to surf and skate. Both were very satisfying and great people to work with. I used to teach art to disadvantaged kids and that taught me a lot about life. Children have a huge amount of shit to deal with and they astonish me with their resilient nature. I still work with young people as much as I can because they keep things fresh and never cease to amaze. Respect your teachers kids, the good ones will stay with you forever.
I hear you met that jimiyo fellah. Tell it straight, what did you think of that guy?
Yes I did. Over a beer at the place where dreams come true, Disneyland. First of I have to say he was taller than I first thought and he has a polite manner about him. He also knows his shit when it comes to T-shirts and between us we could chat the week away over a cold beer on the subject. One day I hope to work with Jimiyo again, after all we are going to be neighbours. Oh and ladies get your claws into this most eligible bachelors out there!!

This is one of the few times that I actually think the color on the girls shirt > color on the guys shirt. .-.
