Words from jimiyo: Spiraling economic downturn got you down? Money not stretching as far? Well, here you go: A $25 tee design at $9 prices. Oh Snap! Can't Touch This! Holla Back!
Tell us about this design: A swarm of jellyfish and their king erupting from the dark abyss! Original art was done with inks and watercolor.
Do you own a lot of shirts? If so, what's your favorite? As a matter of fact, I do own a lot of shirts! Unfortunately, most of them are blank and have no design work on them. I like to wear a blank canvas. Out of the bunch, my favorite would probably be a charcoal colored AA shirt I own.
Any art advice for apparel design? For art in general, always try to outdo yourself or the last piece of art you created. Sometimes I find myself reusing elements from my previous designs that were successful only to find out that my new design isn’t as great because I haven’t done anything to challenge myself or push myself enough. Don’t copy yourself. Comfort is your greatest enemy.
I noticed on your blog, you have alot of traditional/installation art. Is that where you think you might be headed for a possible career?: Possibly and hopefully. Although I would like to focus more on Illustration, I’ve always had the knack of building/creating things so I wouldn’t be surprised if I end up making 3D sculptures and installation art in the future.
Is anyone else in your family an artist? Yes, my brother Kevin. He’s also into making shirt designs and illustrations. You can view his blog and follow the links to his portfolios here: http://iamkevinluong.blogspot.com/
Any shout outs? Hi Mom! Hi Dad! Hi Friends! Hi Family! Thanks for all the motivation and support! Oh, also I have another design up for voting at Design By Humans called Plunder Down Under. Check it out :D
