Moving on...
Being a southern man my whole life, there is a certain attraction to the General Lee. But, Ghostbusters wins out in the end. I was a Ghostbuster every year for Halloween from ages 6-10. I'm glad it won best-selling shirt, it absolutely deserved it. I think it pulled on the heartstrings for many of us that are still young at heart, or just young.

Unfortunately for me, I wouldn't sport an image such as it on a shirt, but it's entertaining to look at.
The first piece on the right's colors are groovy, too.

But the story about the skeletons is pretty sweet anyway. Read up if you're feeling the need for education.

To be fair, the image used in the above tee was taken from the couple found on an archaeological dig near Mantova, Italy, so perhaps Spacemonkeydr was drawing from the same idea.
Either way, I like the simplicity of Derek M's design over at enclothe better.
xylotismsaid 149 weeks ago
Which is all well and good, but it kinda distracts from the "storyline."
trendyrendesaid 149 weeks ago
Either way, I stick to my above statement. I saw the enclothe image months ago and I like the simplicity of the image much more.

Check the comments in the archives in reference to past designs. Any time a shirt with a skull/slightly morbid theme gets posted, the TeeFury "purists" freak out, questioning not only the actions of the curators for choosing that particular theme but the quality of the site as a whole. While I respect the opinions of the other shoppers that frequent here, I think blanket statements like the ones I referred to earlier are misguided. That's all.
If you don't like it, you don't like it and I respect that. But to rip someone's artwork like the comments I mentioned earlier, or call into question the motives of those that are faced with the daily task of painstakingly choosing the artwork is beyond reproach. This is a great site, don't bite the hand that feeds you. That's what I'm saying. Everyone's a critic, obviously.
melbelsaid 149 weeks ago
I understand that people have said it in the past and it was already addressed so it seems like you are just saying it to stir up s.h.i.t.
And Im pretty sure that the reason they let us leave comments is so that we can leave feed back, good or bad. Just like you have the right to say you like it people have the right to say they dont. In my opinion along with many others this shirt looks like someone spent 20 minutes using filters on it. We are allowed to give negative feed back, how else is someone going to improve on their work if the only feedback is good feedback?
MJsaid 149 weeks ago
Most TeeFurians are pretty good about being constructive in their comments, though, so it's not typically a big problem :)

it was here but in brown and when she ended up tracing that other shirt everyone said that she shouldnt have used a "picture reference"
I dont really get the difference... since everyone said that the photographer should get recognition. Im not throwing this artist under the bus by any means... I dont think there is anything wrong with a picture reference or whatever but I just get curious why everyone freaked on her when it seems like this is ok...
billdzrsaid 149 weeks ago
I more or less pointed out the same thing hours earlier today--though I must admit my comment was probably more smart ass than yours. Anyhoo, it was summarily deleted upon posting. When I commented on the delete it was deleted as well.
My comment earlier was basically a note to Olechka that maybe if she distressed a more famous photo as a source and added some vector pack elements around it that the TF whine bots wouldn't cry foul.
Seems hypocritical that no one freaked on another uncredited photo is the focal point of this shirt, albeit worked over and accessorized.
melbelsaid 149 weeks ago
I just feel bad cause everyone really went balls to the walls on calling out Olechka so I didnt know if maybe there were just some like... standards to using pictures and I dont know about it.
Im not meaning to be a smarty pants I just get confused why people freak out on some people but when someone else does the same thing nothing gets said.
stablercakesaid 149 weeks ago
I have no idea about the percentage or law around it, I draw and paint, but this isn't tracing it's arranging which actually takes the same artistic skill it takes to arrange a photograph or elements of a painting. There are scads of collage artists that make great, legal work.
MJsaid 149 weeks ago
The other photograph used on the prior shirt, on the other hand, WAS very unique and recognizable. It also traced back to exactly one source, and was copyrighted clearly.
There's also the issue of this being a new creative work (a collage, instead of purely using one source) while the other was an exact tracing.
stablercakesaid 149 weeks ago
We got upset at Olechka because she copied it straight from the photo and literally changed nothing except the line quality. That is tracing and takes no skill while this type of arranging at least takes some.
Not to say I like the shirt, it's just not infringing on any rights as far as I'm aware.

Don't get me wrong, I like today's design. It's a cool composition. But it's like a collage of sourced objects rather than a wholly original piece. Someone else's skill took the photo and designed the brushes/vector clip art (I'm guessing). spacemonkeydr arranged their work in a pleasing manner to fulfill his vision and is getting printed.
I just think that in lieu of some strictly written guidelines by TF, everyone should get judged by the same standards consistently by the community.
melbelsaid 149 weeks ago
I agree completely that the grey tiger shirt was nothing but a trace, but the other one she did had some changed to it with colors and stuff. She did change it and as far as I can remember that one was just a generic picture also.
Im not trying to start a battle I just dont see much of a difference.
