I like it, but I'm not sure how the print will come out in real life... Might be just a blurry thing on a shirt then.

While I do like this one, I don't think I'll be purchasing. If the absinthe one came in shirt form I would buy it in a second though.

Interesting. Not something that I would wear (too dark or morbid or something), but I like the print. Congrats! Oh, and the absinthe one is pretty tight, as well :)

  • BDParmersaid 149 weeks ago

Neat design. Little too morose for me.

I'd still like to see some flaming knives.
  • Reckoningsaid 149 weeks ago

    totally dig it
  • ctbeisersaid 149 weeks ago

I like it. It's nice. But I refuse to wear skulls. And it seems like there's been nothing but on Teefury recently. Bleh.
  • D-Mosaid 149 weeks ago

Very nice detailing; I like the sky detail of the moon and clouds, especially. I'm not into the morbidity though, I'll have to pass on this one.
  • godzillasaid 149 weeks ago

Dan Radcliffe? Seriously? huh... I'll be damned.
Nice shirt though; definitely a heavy maybe.

btw.... "Dukes of Hazard Orange Car" = the General Lee.
  • Tuismsaid 149 weeks ago

Oooooh, it really looks pretty cool, kinda expected looking but not really upon closer examination. I'm undecided :)

    Leet arrangement design skills!
  • saladfacesaid 149 weeks ago

I personally like this shirt, and will most likely buy it. The naysayers that think this site sells nothing but skull t-shirts obviously don't check it everyday. I think the variety from day to day on this site is very impressive. You can't please everyone. Don't like it? Don't buy it. But to sit there and be overly critical by saying "TeeFury only sells skull shirts," or "No thank you Hot Topic," is asinine. Stop, because you sound like a fool.

    Moving on...

Being a southern man my whole life, there is a certain attraction to the General Lee. But, Ghostbusters wins out in the end. I was a Ghostbuster every year for Halloween from ages 6-10. I'm glad it won best-selling shirt, it absolutely deserved it. I think it pulled on the heartstrings for many of us that are still young at heart, or just young.
  • Onibabasaid 149 weeks ago

I love everything about this shirt, and ordered it right on sight.
I actually love all of the stuff on the side bar too. Keep up the good work!
  • coopercoopersaid 149 weeks ago

love the stuff on the side - this ones a bit deep though - not the most cheery shirt! Good stuff though
  • Omnitariansaid 149 weeks ago

Kinda ambivalent because even though I'm pretty sure a respectable amount of effort went into making this, the final result looks way too much like the "clipart mishmash" that floats around for me to fully appreciate.
  • Jestiksaid 149 weeks ago

you don't know how cool this is!!!

Today is my 17th anniversary with my wife! And I wake up to see this shirt? Dang, man - a sure sign if there ever was one.

I'm in for two, and I'm down 'til death do us part!!

thanks, TF, and brilliant shirt, spacemonkeydr !!!

  • nviccionesaid 149 weeks ago

I like everything about the art but the moon. Considering buying but I second the notion of not knowing if I would actually wear this.

Get me a screen print and I would throw it up in my room or something.

Hey! I resemble that remark! *chuckle*
  • AngelinaJoliesLipssaid 149 weeks ago

Nicely arranged with the moon and clouds, etc., and I love that photo, always have. However, kind of bad timing with current events, the cemetery story in the news. Can't do it.
  • PrettyBlackRosesaid 149 weeks ago

The original skeletons were found just south of Verona, and were dated to the Neolithic period (5,500 years old). It was a fantastic archaeological find, thank you for incorporating it into your art!
  • BenjaminPhantomsaid 149 weeks ago

I seem to be a sucker for the skeleton/skull thing lately. WTF? I swore them off about a month ago, but so many cool designs here and on DBH keep coming up with them and I cannot resist. Resistence is futile!

I just bought this awesome shirt!
  • cardinalgoldsteinsaid 149 weeks ago

    Not just one skull, but...
  • Olympiasaid 149 weeks ago

The first 2 images on the side are cool :)
  • melbelsaid 149 weeks ago

saladface, im not really sure why you are bringing up the hot topic thing since only 1 person has said they didnt like skulls and noone even brought up hot topic. So really there was no need for that because you arent having to sit there and read it.
  • palepanoplysaid 149 weeks ago

I'm not really a fan of this. Too many Paint Shop Pro/Photoshop brushes. The same ones are used on the other designs as well. I don't like the random paragraph of text brush. It probably doesn't even say anything related to the design.
  • CPUT99said 149 weeks ago

What the shirt does, it does well. It's a nice, morbid, gritty, crammed image.

Unfortunately for me, I wouldn't sport an image such as it on a shirt, but it's entertaining to look at.

The first piece on the right's colors are groovy, too.
  • popmonkeysaid 149 weeks ago

I agree with the "clipart mishmash" comment made earlier. There are far too many cut and paste elements repeated throughout this fellow's body of work, and I really don't care for that sort of thing at all.

Oh and Jimiyo: "Dukes of Hazzard ORANGE CAR"!?! It's the GENERAL LEE, man! Show some respect! ;)
  • shiiba_artsaid 149 weeks ago

I'm digging on the Marilyn Monroe inspired design on the right side. Put on a shirt = PURCHASE!!

The flowers and text ruins it for me.
  • MajorBluntzsaid 149 weeks ago

    it aint halloween yet foolz.

aint my style. looks like something a gothic person would wear. it doesnt look like a summer shirt.
  • melbelsaid 149 weeks ago

i just feel like it is wayyy to much stuff for one shirt.
  • yomega56said 149 weeks ago

Not to take away from the artist but this has been done.
    Eternal Embrace

But the story about the skeletons is pretty sweet anyway. Read up if you're feeling the need for education.
  • trendyrendesaid 149 weeks ago

Saw this other tee months ago, and when I saw today's teefury I couldn't help but note the striking resemblance.

    http://www.enclothe.com/shop/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=695&idcategory=0

To be fair, the image used in the above tee was taken from the couple found on an archaeological dig near Mantova, Italy, so perhaps Spacemonkeydr was drawing from the same idea.

Either way, I like the simplicity of Derek M's design over at enclothe better.
  • xylotismsaid 149 weeks ago

The concept is cool, but the artwork reminds me of a band t-shirt. Something Megadeth/Iron Maiden-esque.

Which is all well and good, but it kinda distracts from the "storyline."
  • trendyrendesaid 149 weeks ago

Oh yes, spacemonkeydr says himself "I was thinking about making a kind of Romeo and Juliet themed design for a while. Then I found this great image of the skeletons embracing, and the other elements just came together as I thought about the story more."
Either way, I stick to my above statement. I saw the enclothe image months ago and I like the simplicity of the image much more.

  • Getinthevansaid 149 weeks ago

Ima get this shirt, and really hope it turns out how it looks in the picture too :)
  • Getinthevansaid 149 weeks ago

Also the designs on the right would be a quick buy if put on shirts =)
  • Replenishsaid 149 weeks ago

Nice design! I like how the moon resembles a skull but still kinda blends in with the clouds.
  • Yathwartsaid 149 weeks ago

Nifty artwork, but not t-shirt material really.
  • lustigustisaid 149 weeks ago

Gorgeous!!! Though I don't have a GF right know ...
  • saladfacesaid 149 weeks ago

    @melbel:

Check the comments in the archives in reference to past designs. Any time a shirt with a skull/slightly morbid theme gets posted, the TeeFury "purists" freak out, questioning not only the actions of the curators for choosing that particular theme but the quality of the site as a whole. While I respect the opinions of the other shoppers that frequent here, I think blanket statements like the ones I referred to earlier are misguided. That's all.

If you don't like it, you don't like it and I respect that. But to rip someone's artwork like the comments I mentioned earlier, or call into question the motives of those that are faced with the daily task of painstakingly choosing the artwork is beyond reproach. This is a great site, don't bite the hand that feeds you. That's what I'm saying. Everyone's a critic, obviously.
  • melbelsaid 149 weeks ago

    @saladface

I understand that people have said it in the past and it was already addressed so it seems like you are just saying it to stir up s.h.i.t.

And Im pretty sure that the reason they let us leave comments is so that we can leave feed back, good or bad. Just like you have the right to say you like it people have the right to say they dont. In my opinion along with many others this shirt looks like someone spent 20 minutes using filters on it. We are allowed to give negative feed back, how else is someone going to improve on their work if the only feedback is good feedback?
  • image zipper

    MJsaid 149 weeks ago

Melbel, I think the key is to make sure that the feedback you give is constructive. Saying "This looks like hot topic" or "Skulls again" isn't very helpful to the artist, but commenting specifically on which elements work and which don't (and why) is something that the designer can use to improve.

Most TeeFurians are pretty good about being constructive in their comments, though, so it's not typically a big problem :)
  • melbelsaid 149 weeks ago

that was my point about wondering why he was bringing it up, because we all had this chat a few days ago about not being cruel with our feedback. no walmart, hot topic, khols comments.
  • melbelsaid 149 weeks ago

Okay so I actually have a question... What is the difference between him using the skeletons from a photograph and from Olechka using the photograph of the tiger for this shirt..
    http://www.redbubble.com/people/olechka/t-shirts/2959509-2-beast-colored
it was here but in brown and when she ended up tracing that other shirt everyone said that she shouldnt have used a "picture reference"

I dont really get the difference... since everyone said that the photographer should get recognition. Im not throwing this artist under the bus by any means... I dont think there is anything wrong with a picture reference or whatever but I just get curious why everyone freaked on her when it seems like this is ok...
  • billdzrsaid 149 weeks ago

    @melbel

I more or less pointed out the same thing hours earlier today--though I must admit my comment was probably more smart ass than yours. Anyhoo, it was summarily deleted upon posting. When I commented on the delete it was deleted as well.

My comment earlier was basically a note to Olechka that maybe if she distressed a more famous photo as a source and added some vector pack elements around it that the TF whine bots wouldn't cry foul.

Seems hypocritical that no one freaked on another uncredited photo is the focal point of this shirt, albeit worked over and accessorized.
  • melbelsaid 149 weeks ago

Okay so Im not the only one that sees it...

I just feel bad cause everyone really went balls to the walls on calling out Olechka so I didnt know if maybe there were just some like... standards to using pictures and I dont know about it.

Im not meaning to be a smarty pants I just get confused why people freak out on some people but when someone else does the same thing nothing gets said.
  • stablercakesaid 149 weeks ago

There's also a difference betweeing copying and collage. Though all of these are probably brushes/photos/filters/what have you that the artist didn't make himself, they're arranged in a way that absolves the creator of art theft. It's a collage and I think there's a certain percentage of a piece of already created art (photo, whatever) that must be changed in order to make new art. There are tons of collage artists, but most if not all of them are very careful how much they keep from art/photos they didn't create.

I have no idea about the percentage or law around it, I draw and paint, but this isn't tracing it's arranging which actually takes the same artistic skill it takes to arrange a photograph or elements of a painting. There are scads of collage artists that make great, legal work.
  • image zipper

    MJsaid 149 weeks ago

Melbel, if you research the photo you'll find that there are many sources- I found near identical images with a variety of photographic agencies listed as originating it. This means that it is not a unique image (Reuters, AP, and NewsCom each have photos, among other sources) so it would be difficult to say which photographer, if any, has had their rights infringed on. It also might mean that if I looked further than a quick Google, there might be some copyright-free versions floating around.

The other photograph used on the prior shirt, on the other hand, WAS very unique and recognizable. It also traced back to exactly one source, and was copyrighted clearly.

There's also the issue of this being a new creative work (a collage, instead of purely using one source) while the other was an exact tracing.
  • stablercakesaid 149 weeks ago

    Uh, in conclusion?

We got upset at Olechka because she copied it straight from the photo and literally changed nothing except the line quality. That is tracing and takes no skill while this type of arranging at least takes some.

Not to say I like the shirt, it's just not infringing on any rights as far as I'm aware.
  • ruinsofspacestationssaid 149 weeks ago

    skeletons are overused
  • billdzrsaid 149 weeks ago

I hear you--I felt bad for Olechka too. If she lined that tiger by hand as she claims to have, it probably took her considerably longer to achieve her result than what today's tee took.

Don't get me wrong, I like today's design. It's a cool composition. But it's like a collage of sourced objects rather than a wholly original piece. Someone else's skill took the photo and designed the brushes/vector clip art (I'm guessing). spacemonkeydr arranged their work in a pleasing manner to fulfill his vision and is getting printed.

I just think that in lieu of some strictly written guidelines by TF, everyone should get judged by the same standards consistently by the community.
  • melbelsaid 149 weeks ago

im not talking about the tiger on the grey shirt... she had done a shirt before that with a tiger on a brown shirt that had colors and paint splatters and all that mumbo jumbo.. i dont see the difference. all this guy did was take the picture and add things around it...

I agree completely that the grey tiger shirt was nothing but a trace, but the other one she did had some changed to it with colors and stuff. She did change it and as far as I can remember that one was just a generic picture also.

Im not trying to start a battle I just dont see much of a difference.
  • image zipper

    MJsaid 149 weeks ago

I'm not sure why the brown shirt is at issue at all, since there was no controversy when it printed. As far as I am aware, there was no issue with that design and I'd very much prefer if it stayed that way.

What's done is done. Discuss THIS shirt.
  • ambiesaid 149 weeks ago

    love it, got it :)
  • melbelsaid 149 weeks ago

no.. there was no problem with it, but it was brought up when they disputed her gray shirt and started arguing about the brown shirt, which is why i was so confused. im not trying to start a problem i was just confused.
  • melbelsaid 149 weeks ago
