According to an online quiz I took I while back, I could totally take twenty-eight 5th graders in a fist fight... and that's while sober!  Also, according to a similar quiz, I have a 67% chance of surviving a zombie-pocalypse. 

Seriously though, I'm a super nice guy.

I would hate for anyone to see my Detroit Red Wings "playoff beard" right now.  It is not a good beard.  I look pretty trashy right now.  I would hate even more for people to know that I'm not even a very good Red Wings fan and that my playoff beard is every bit as much an excuse to let myself go and look trashy for a little while as it is to support my hockey team.  Also, I'm scared witless of bears.

I love being outdoors (despite the bears), especially on the water and under the water.  My favorite place for that is on Lake Michigan, specifically the parts of it up in the northwestern part of "The Mitten."  Also, I love running, climbing trees, writing, playing ultimate frisbee, watching college football (Go Blue!), taking pictures, and generally creating by whatever means are interesting at the moment.  Oh, and eating is nice too, but not beets.  Never beets.

I like the idea of buying a bottle of bourbon for a nickel, drinking it, then riding around on horses till I fall off.  Also, I've been thinking about wearing an extra belt lately, like a gun belt, to carry things like gum and playing cards and little tools and a camera and maybe a flask and stuff.  Pockets are overrated.  Also, cowboy boots are underrated.

I would love to make some music.  I'm actually trying to learn the harmonica, but so far all I can manage is a poor rendition of the University of Michigan's fight song.  I also tend to make up little songs, usually while I'm driving.  I wouldn't call them "music" though.  So I guess for now I'll say it's a toss up between listening and dancing... although, I do listen a lot more than I dance.

Oh gosh.  Howabout an unholy marriage of the two, rather than a war?  Alien space-dragons eating moon-people in a Vonnegut alternate past and such?  With some wizards maybe?  That sounds nice.  I just don't think I could pick between the best of each genre.

Describe your favorite shirt that you own, and why you like it so much.

I have this really neat tan, blue, and cream striped t-shirt sweater thing that used to be my grandpa's.  I mean, a short-sleeved sweater?  I've never seen anything like it.  Lord knows when and where he got it, it's probably older than I am.  Anyway, it's really comfy and it gets noticed.  That plus the sentimental connection makes it my fav.

What inspires your work?

Any and everything, really.  I've had certain obsessions since childhood that obviously insist on informing my subject matter, such as animals and dinosaurs (which are still just animals) and science and comic books and the like.  But I also rely on the genius of other artists to inspire and open creative and aesthetic doors for me, and that's as true now as it was when I first picked up a pencil and paper.

Definitely a shout out to my cousin Rob, who is largely responsible for this tee.  Also, big giant thank you's to the rest of my friends and family that are always supporting my work.  You guys are the sprinkles, butterscotch sauce, AND whipped cream on the sundae of my happiness :P
