You can't be first anymore anyway. Teevil or some other form always is. I thought that was accept by most people now..
  • flavorlishiossaid 57 weeks ago

still waiting for that manatee tee...

or mana tee if you will.
  • stablercakesaid 57 weeks ago

I get it, but FUNNY ENOUGH the comic sans pisses me off so much that I don't like it on the shirt even when you're trashing it.

What a weird conundrum. I dislike the font, so therefore want to trash it, but also don't want it on the shirt.

    I think my brain exploded.
  • SteveOramAsaid 57 weeks ago

yup, papyrus is pretty bad too.
  • flavorlishiossaid 57 weeks ago

i've seen that alphabet shirt somewhere......mmmm
  • JayDubbsaid 57 weeks ago

There is nothing wrong with comic sans OR papyrus. The only reason you people say you dislike them is to try to sound all "typographic-y" and whatnot. Every font is beautiful if used in the right way, and every font has a right way to be used.
  • AlexWillmssaid 57 weeks ago

    YES.

This is SO GOOD! I need to forward this to my brother among other people who absolutely detest comic sans

    i dislike every font.....

i think everything should be told in interpretive dance.
  • Phillyzerosaid 57 weeks ago

My interpretation skills are always called into question, fonts are much easier to decipher.

    20th!!!!!

This looks like a take on the ol' anti-racist patch, showing the guy throwing away a Swastika. Then, the band Spazz did a throw-off where the guy was throwing away emo. I'm not so sure if I approve of this newest rendition.
  • flavorlishiossaid 57 weeks ago

yes but where is the fun?

just go wild and follow your heart

haha!! i think things might go sour if everyone did that..
  • Kimoppisaid 57 weeks ago

I'm sorry, but I LOVE comic sans for stupid things.

But I Arrrgggh it for anything that is professional like posters and signs.

    I'm so torn!

  • almondrocasaid 57 weeks ago

Comic Sans is only good when used for a blog about somebody's house cats. Even then, only as a parody.

Yes, Times New Roman needs to go. And Arial is the poor man's Helvetica.
  • Zhydsaid 57 weeks ago

    @almondroca

Thank you! I have a mac, so everything is in Helvectia. I lurve it.
  • desertimportedsaid 57 weeks ago

Even the creator of comic sans doesn't like comic sans, lol.
  • yeah_detroitsaid 57 weeks ago

awesome! but sadly the print in too big on the shirt for my taste :(
  • purpleturbanzsaid 57 weeks ago

    @yeah_detroit

I have to agree with you.
I might have considered buying this shirt if the man in the graphic was about 50% smaller and the font size was a reasonable 36 or so (instead of being closer to about 110).

    le sigh.
  • Jestiksaid 57 weeks ago

    Fifty-Second!!!!!

    and on my birthday, too!!!

    yes, sweet!

    Happy Birthday to me, TeeFuryans!

However, as part of my code - I don't wear white shirts, nor do I condone the perpetuation of comic sans in any form. I'm really not even supposed to acknowledge it, but oh well.

  • icecubesaid 57 weeks ago

@disgruntledchao, well, a month or so ago, people (or a person) was complaining that there weren't enough funny shirts on here, so I can't you can't please everyone can you?
  • professorEsaid 57 weeks ago

lol @ my girlfriend made an urban dictionary entry about Papyrus in my honor a few years ago because I complained about it whenever I saw it on a sign.

I can't link from my phone, but trust me, it's there. Go on, see for yourself.
  • Tuismsaid 57 weeks ago

    Brilliant sentiments, oversized print...

I guess as far as that theory goes, any handwritten badly font will be great for dyslexics?
  • Scarahsaid 57 weeks ago

I'm already annoyed about enough other things in life that I don't have the energy to lend to hating a font..

but I guess I'm not in the "artist" club so I wouldn't get it.
  • hkward001said 57 weeks ago

    I Arrrgggh Curlz!!
  • Nekophoenixsaid 57 weeks ago

My typography tutor would probably love this, but only graphic design/typography nerds possibly would.

On a seperate note, I was informed that comic sans has very good uses in that it's the easiest font for certain sufferers of dyslexia to read.
  • JayDubbsaid 57 weeks ago

IMO this shirt is right along with "dead inside." I thought this website was supposed to support artists, not wannabe comedians. More illustrations, please!
  • said 57 weeks ago

Can we have less "complaining about wanting less" "funny" shirts please >

like, omg, like, you know, like uhm... say, shirts you won't read an laugh at once and then forget something's even on it

we need more artistic stuff, monkeyfart, junk, not these snakebomb nerd/geek/freak/punk/skull/animal/font/fuzzy joke shirts you could find at a store like hot topic or something, like, you know... more logic, less complaining.

*cough* [regular voice] I like Verdana. What does that make me?
  • bblobsaid 57 weeks ago

I agree with flavorlishios! On the manatee shirt comment, that is. I love manatees and I would love to see one!!
  • matt2koolsaid 57 weeks ago

This tee makes my day. An infographic portraying the unwritten Rule #1 of typographic design? Well worth eleven bucks.

    Can "Matisse" be next?
  • Soccerfun88said 57 weeks ago

    @icecube
I'm 21, and I've been "been on the internet" since middleschool.
I have never once heard of "ban comic sans" and I have never met someone else who has had such a strong opinion on font styles...

It just kinda seems rather.. pointless.
  • Mechsaid 57 weeks ago

    Soccerfun,

You most likely are not any sort of graphic designer then either, are you?
  • thefatunicornsaid 57 weeks ago

Soccerfun88- Fonts and the proper use of them are a big deal in graphic design. Comic sans is one of the most hated fonts in the business for several reasons, people often default to it when making home-made posters/flyers or in email and instant messaging. It's not the most pleasing font to look at, to say the least.

    The more you know! =)
  • razz007said 57 weeks ago

Here's an interesting article about the "Comic Sans" font
  • thefatunicornsaid 57 weeks ago

    Good stuff razz =)

I for one don't think we should ban comic sans. Just avoid using it in the wrong circumstances... Actually I think that may be my issue with this shirt, I do get the joke, but I don't think the design pulls it off well. The use of comic sans within the shirt is ironically inappropriate.
  • Soccerfun88said 57 weeks ago

I understand where you guys are coming from - but I don't have to be a graphic designer to receive emails or text messages, or to look at posters or flyers.

    :P

Look at it this way. I love love love music. I listen to a plethora of different stuff. I don't go around (like most people, mind you) and bash bands I don't like. It's pointless; taste is relative.
But then again, this is just my perspective on things. ;p
  • thefatunicornsaid 57 weeks ago

    Soccerfun88-

"I understand where you guys are coming from - but I don't have to be a graphic designer to receive emails or text messages, or to look at posters or flyers."

That's exactly what design is for. Ultimately it's not for designers but for the general public or a more specific audience. And trust me, there is an audience out there for comic sans =)

Just imagine it this way, You go to a rock concert and the band starts playing a mix of Sesame Street remixes. That's comic sans being used inappropriately. XD
  • Soccerfun88said 57 weeks ago

Lol hey now. I bet someone could make a killer mix of the Elmo Song.

I'm finding teefury to be inconsistent in their quality levels. Sure this is a cleverly composed shirt but I could see buying this from snorg tees or something.

i wouldn't see it so much as an inconsistency as it is a variety! a design doesn't necessarily need a great amount of time spent on it to be successful - this shirt is more iconic than illustrative.
  • jmnz54said 57 weeks ago

I agree that variety is good but when you go from something such as yesterday's tee to this, Not that it's a bad design, it's almost a let down to see something so simplistic.

True, but it's typically considered socially acceptable for people to make fun of Britney Spears (and that ilk).
There are artists that you might not like, but they're still good in their own right. And then there are other artists...
But yeah, it's all about what you care about. People in the design industries get tired of seeing an overused, sloppily-made font. People in the music industry probably get tired of always hearing about unoriginal but catchy pop music.
  • whitelightprojectsaid 57 weeks ago
