This is a parody. It is both a pun on the Spock/Spork similar sound, and an image that comments on the original material by transforming a logical character into an inherently illogical one.

Are...are you serious?

You're aware that people make money doing caricatures of celebrities, right? Artwork made from a likeness is still art and not at all property of the person whose likeness it is.

If anything, you should be asking about the rights of the photographer who took the photo Nimoy this comes from (assuming it comes from one), hearken back to some Sheperd Fairey.

See link above... thatrobert had a design with this exact concept printed over at woot(!)quite a while ago. I'm guessing he wanted to do a Nimoy likeness but was under the impression that was verboten. :-)

Despite my like for all things new and fresh, i really like the execution, and wouldn't mind owning one o' these.

Actually, that wasn't thatrobert, it was Rob Glenn. I think that given the pun being fairly obvious, it's not surprising that more than one artist has taken a crack at this concept. They're drastically different in execution and each stand on their own, in my opinion.

Original or not, that "original" Spork shirt you've linked is just incredibly lacking in design flair in comparison to this one.

One of the major things I like about Spock is his face, aaaaand that other shirt pretty much eliminates it.

On the other... Guys, come ON. What IS IT with the banana yellow girls shirts???

Now that there's an archive up, I've got half a mind to go back and come up with numbers for how often we ladies get the banana vs any other color at all. Come on, we couldn't Spork on mint green, or fuchsia, or white on black, or ANYTHING but the banana?

I can only assume that there was a don't-pay-us-we'll-pay-you sale down at the banana yellow ladies shirt suppliers, and you guys couldn't resist a good deal.

This Tee is Highly Creative! I'm definitely not a star trek fun but still...
The Robot Mafia on the side would have been an instant buy, as well as the A/V Mickey Mouse.

And If I'm not mistaken I've seen the robotic chicken versus the worm on Emptees.

Yes, I am a girl! I think I've made more than enough fanboys want to immediately propose to me, but alas I am taken (by a man who proposed to me at the premier of sweeney todd, up on the big screen, with lord of the rings quotes, star trek font and stargate music playing... and my engagement ring is a replica of the one ring... *GRIN*

I got it custom made on ebay. Just search for "3rd tail light sticker" and the make/model of your car and you will find people who will put any text on there for you and send it to you... I paid less than $10 with shipping.

The reason he chose Sweeney Todd was because I was in the musical my high school did in 2005... And the original (angela lansbury and george hearn) means a lot to us :) So it was pretty much perfect, even if the movie didn't live up to the original broadway... which movies rarely ever do.

I also received mine today, and the image is much, much smaller than depicted, about 1/2 size. So I now have a t-shirt with a smallish spork/Spock that sits under my arm/armpit. Not happy here...actually pretty dissapointed since this was SUCH a cool design and it looks like teefury messed it up.

Tell us about this design:
The Sporck It's a timeless pun on a timeless character, a dearly loved half-martian-half-cutlery who's dwelled in the hearts of all Trekkies for as long as they've been saluting the good salute. And now - before the new and very adaquately Spock-looking Zachary Quinto picks up from where the great Leonard Nimoy left off, this is a salute to Him! Sporck long and prosper!

What do you want Teefury fans to know?
Know this - earplugs are only as inverse proportionately good as the noise they're blocking out, the pencil is mightier than pen, and "Freeeeedom!" is a better battlecry than "חווווווופש!!!"

Name a few of your favorite things.

Do you own alot of shirts? If so, what's your favorite?
Well, normal un-voted-for shirts yes. I'm still relatively new to this whole Tee scene, and Threadless's had to refund me twice because my order never arrived... So not a lot of designer tees, but my favourite so far is my own work - AV Mouse. I'm just waaaaay too proud of it :)

What inspires you?
I could opt for the easy out and say "everything", and it would be absolutely true - but if we get down to specifics... Media. The internet. Not so much TV because I don't watch much of it, but everything and everyday occurances gets me thinking in totally the wrong ways... Sometimes they end up in the right places, though, these thoughts.

Where would you like to see yourself in 5 years with your art career or other?
Happily creating more stuff not by commision but by volition. Not limiting ideas to just drawings but to have them live in the third dimension and touch the lives of people (All of you who wear my shirts become the bearer of my little creations into the third dimension! That makes it all worthwhile!).
While I don't really want to become a *business person*, it would be nice to be able to create more than what any single person is capable of... That'll be something to work towards!
