I would get this design for sure if the edge of it was rounded and had some sort of fade effect as it reached the outside of the design. As it is, it ends WAY too abruptly and is WAY too square.
why not just the icon itself with none of that polkadotted background? eh, as others have said I'd dig it more if it had a fade to the background it sits upon, but congrats on getting the print!
I love this design, but alas, I can't buy it. And I for one love the boxy polka-dotted background. It adds to the design IMO, and draws you closer to the center, and the main part of the design.
The Illuminati created government 7500 years ago. They've been shutting down sections of our brain through radio frequency broadcasts in the atmosphere for the last 50 or so years, and its worked!
Boxes on t-shirts always look like press on designs.
Regardless of the concept, this would have been much better if the half-tone was cropped into a circle.
I too wish it wasn't so boxy & defined. It would have been the uber if instead of being a polka-dot rectangle framing the internal image, it was a triangle...
Nonetheless, I believe my love for all things all-seeing is going to win this geometrical debate. And I'm a persnickety teefury patron.
I really like this one-color design. I agree with some others that the design could have faded into the background (the color of the shirt) instead of being a rectangle, but I like the geometric and decorative, as well as pseudo-symbolic nature of the design. Really nice.
I agree with you other people about the boxyness of this shirt.
the design itself has some swank, but when it is put on the shirt like that it just looses it all.
Like a 3 pack of Godiva Truffle Chocolates in checkout area at the grocery store, my impulse when I saw this was that I immediately wanted it. What is it? I think it's an eye on a halftone pattern. Doesn't matter what it is, I want it!
Tell us about this design, I demand to be informed!
This design started out as a small graphic to print only on a sticker. Just because I wanted to do something around town when I had nothing on my hands. I thought stickering was a good option… When the design was finished some friends told me it could also be really nice for a t-shirt, so I modified it a bit, took the transfer paper and the press at my job en people really seemed to like the result. The design itself was inspired… well I guess that’s obvious? I wanted to put a lot of symbolism in a totally meaningless graphic. Hence the triangles the universe and all seeing eye references. As another basic principle I wanted to build the whole thing out of simple geometrical forms and make it almost symmetrical. Simply because I like symmetry and geometrical forms in graphics and I wanted the whole thing to have a sort of old school look and feel.
MAC or PC?
What sort of question is this? Mac. Although I must say it would really make me happy if they started focusing more on the professional costumer and less on the happy consumer of lifestyle products. On the other hand: I’m almost ashamed to say: after years of resistance I got an iphone last week and I’m kind of stoked...
You have 140 characters to describe yourself like twitter, Engage!
I’m not going to count the characters but I’m like so many others on this site: a kid who was always drawing. Then turned marketing communication guy turned graphics designer again. Dutch, I live in Rotterdam. I’m still searching, always will be probably, I’m a Libra. I worked in apparel for the last 4,5 years as you can see in my portfolio and recently I found myself with a lot more time on my hands (that the sunny side of the Global Crisis…) which surprisingly resulted in a lot of energy to put in my own projects, this being one of them. I would be happy to find a steady job again though… I’m not structured enough to be my own boss.
Tell us about the most awesome experience you have ever had.
That’s a tough one. I always like it when you’re so caught up in something you forget everything around you… Those are best experiences and they could occur when you doing… anything…really. The trick is to realize it and to stretch those moments as long as possible. That’s pretty philosophical, haha.
Who are the artists that have influenced you? Why do you like their style?
I try to be influenced by as many people as possible and not stick to one style. It’s a cliché but the internet is a constant source, it still can be overwhelming to how many people make so much cool stuff all over the world. Like I said I tend to like the more clean geometrical stuff and I’m not put of by commercial work. At the moment I really like the work by Alex Trochut, Andy Gilmore, Emil Kozak, Mike Perry, Jason Munn… I can go on… As for Art with a big A (or Kunst with a big K we say) I’m always blown away by the works of Mark Rothko, also because I don’t get I chance to see them that often. And I think Thom Yorke is a genius. Like so many other musicians I might add. Unfortunately I don’t have any talent in that direction as for as I know of.
Do you own alot of shirts?
I think I have a pretty modest collection, about 40.
