Love the shirt! And I agree, cats are awesome. Although I like dogs, I do enjoy the head butts from my cats and occasional toy mice gifts they leave in my shoes. I've often noticed that cats and owls do look alike, but as far as the shirt I love the colors and I think the brighter yellow highlights are perfectly placed.

This shirt is definitely rockin'. Classic Jimiyo linework, and the colors practically burst off the shirt and swell my eyes with golden deliciousness.

Also, a filibuster about the superiority of cats is possibly the most amusing thing ever to grace an artist interview.

Not for sure how I feel about Jimiyo's opinion of dogs. He may have have cut off some of his doggie loving fan base who normally would have bought his shirt.
For the record, my little guy Wiley has never peed or pooed in my bed.

I'd buy this shirt, except for the fact there's a huge owl on it. Or... I'd buy this shirt, except for the fact that I love dogs... and Mac computers. No, no, it's super cool that you love cats THAT much. Yes, you can leave your home for 2 or 3 days and they'll take care of themselves. Except for the part where you come home and your house smells like a big, wet, rotten vajayjay.

I'm sorry, I'm just a little annoyed at how mean everybody was to yesterday's artist and he was a 16 year old kid and Teevil didn't seem to care.

Jimiyo can take some teasing but JEEZ. Anyway, as for this shirt, I'm sure the Harry Potter kids will go nuts for it. Yay, Hogwarts!

I've always thought that owls have something cat-ish in them!
The yellow highlights are so perfectly placed, it feels like the owl is sitting by a candle. And with all those cool blue tones, the bird still looks warm and alive. Wow!

I love owls- with those huge eyes, they don't miss a thing. The only thing better than an owl shirt is an owl shirt drawn by Jimiyo. Hey, look at that!

Tell us the background of this piece.
I've wanted to do an owl in a baroque embellishment style for a while. I enjoy creating intricate details and trying to figure out the abstract formula behind what makes them attractive to me.

What is the coolest thing about owls?
They look like winged cats with heads that can do the poltergeist.

What is the coolest thing about Jimiyo?
My friends. OK, it would probably be more interesting if I was less humble and looked inward. I don't know... it is weird sometimes when I tell people about my life and it sounds cool: Used to sell Dell computers, quit, got a job designing Nascar t-shirts, quit, road tripped around the US for 30 days, ended up on a ranch in Utah for 7 months, started my own freelance business designing and professional contest winning, left the ranch, got a job at designbyhumans.com, and moved cross country from Tennessee to California after having grown up and lived in the South for over 27 years.

I think observing cats, I feel I am very similar to them.

Like cats, in general, I don't trust or like people very much and am very independent, although having found those I can trust, I can be very affectionate and loyal, and will head butt them as a sign of affection. Unlike dogs, cats are a very clean and self conscious species. Cats do not drool, nor do I, and when I have to use the bathroom, I like being discreet and use a bathroom. Dogs just go willy nilly out in the middle of public and sidewalks with no regard for others. Not only are dogs rude in that manner, they kick their legs as if they are doing good to conceal such prizes they leave. Cats, on the other hand, are very cordial and bury their works. In a similar vein, I make sure to flush.

Srsly, you don't have to wake up to let the cat out for a pee or poo. You can even pretty much leave your place for 2-3 days if you leave enough food for cat and you will come back to your place and they will have emptied the sink of dishes and maybe even vacuumed the floor.

Dogs would have just ate up all the TP, rummaged through the trash, and pooped on your bed.

How is that superior? Dogs are stupid. Here is the ranking.

What advice would you give to artists new to the shirt design medium?
Design a hundred shirts. You'll be decent at it once you hit about 30-40, maybe sooner! Try it.
