Tell us the background of this piece.
I've wanted to do an owl in a baroque embellishment style for a while. I enjoy creating intricate details and trying to figure out the abstract formula behind what makes them attractive to me.

What is the coolest thing about owls?
They look like winged cats with heads that can do the poltergeist.

What is the coolest thing about Jimiyo?
My friends.  OK, it would probably be more interesting if I was less humble and looked inward.  I don't know... it is weird sometimes when I tell people about my life and it sounds cool:  Used to sell Dell computers, quit, got a job designing Nascar t-shirts, quit, road tripped around the US for 30 days, ended up on a ranch in Utah for 7 months, started my own freelance business designing and professional contest winning, left the ranch, got a job at designbyhumans.com, and moved cross country from Tennessee to California after having grown up and lived in the South for over 27 years.

WTF!?! How dare..!

I think observing cats, I feel I am very similar to them.  

Like cats, in general, I don't trust or like people very much and am very independent, although having found those I can trust, I can be very affectionate and loyal, and will head butt them as a sign of affection. Unlike dogs, cats are a very clean and self conscious species.  Cats do not drool, nor do I, and when I have to use the bathroom, I like being discreet and use a bathroom. Dogs just go willy nilly out in the middle of public and sidewalks with no regard for others.  Not only are dogs rude in that manner, they kick their legs as if they are doing good to conceal such prizes they leave. Cats, on the other hand, are very cordial and bury their works. In a similar vein, I make sure to flush.

Srsly, you don't have to wake up to let the cat out for a pee or poo. You can even pretty much leave your place for 2-3 days if you leave enough food for cat and you will come back to your place and they will have emptied the sink of dishes and maybe even vacuumed the floor.

Dogs would have just ate up all the TP, rummaged through the trash, and pooped on your bed.

How is that superior?  Dogs are stupid. Here is the ranking.

What advice would you give to artists new to the shirt design medium?
Design a hundred shirts. You'll be decent at it once you hit about 30-40, maybe sooner! Try it.
