A word from the curator:
The bold lines of classic comics never go out of style- they convey power and strength, daring all comers to do battle. I love the brashness of the illustration, about to deliver some serious pain to whoever makes the mistake of catching his eye.

Tell us the background of this design.
I was reading an old Captain America comic from the 60's that Jack Kirby drew and there was this awesome fight sequence and it reminded me of the Outsiders which was also set in the 60's. So it's a Jack Kirby inspired greaser.

What do you want TeeFury fans to know about you?
I live in Oakland, CA and my girlfriend and I just started Tall Cat Studios to self publish our books and comics and the like. Stay tuned at www.thetallcat.com and www.thesecretlifeofmachines.blogspot.com for more. I also work part-time for Cinder Block which is one of the last independant merchandising companies in its league. Right now I'm working on new shirt designs for the Yeah Yeah Yeahs' upcoming release and tour.

Name a few of your favorite things.
My girlfriend's bangs, when bands are so tough they name themselves after hardware manufacturers, like Coleman, VHS image quality, and black and white photocopies. And when I spot a semi carrying a load of flattened cars to the melting pot.

What are your feelings on extreme weather?
Well, I'm always extremely surprised how often I don't remember to bring a jacket when I go to the city. It is Always hoodie weather in San Francisco. Otherwise the Bay Area doesn't know what weather is.. wait are earthquakes weather?

Do you prefer rock, paper, or scissors?
Whenever I play that game something I like is hanging in the balance, it's a deal settler, and I prefer to win. I prefer having a complete arsenal.

Scifi movies vs. fantasy movies: which would win the battle?
The Battle for my Entertainment? I would try and broker a truce because by working together we all win.. especially me.

Describe your favorite shirt that you own, and why you like it so much.
My favorite shirt is my Misfits shirt. It's got an illustration by Pushead and it's printed on a heavy black Allstyle Apparel shirt that's lasted forever. I like a bit of durability and it's a good fit.

Which is better, gaming, reading, or watching movies? Name your favorite title in your chosen medium.
Movies for sure but I like a good book. The best is a combination of the two that doesn't totally suck and for my tastes DUNE, No Country for Oldmen, and The Outsiders are a few examples of that phenomenon. But True Romance has to be my favorite movie of all time.

What inspires your work?
Other artists and whatever information I can get out of the client and I do lots of research.
Some ideas have a certain feel to them and I try and match that with the music or movies I'm watching while I work. Justice's DVNO video kept me juiced the entire week I was designing for Rockband, for instance.
