Interesting...I like the mens shirt color a lot, but I'd prefer this design if it was smaller in size. I'm probably going to pass, but only because of the size of the design. Good work though and congrats on getting printed :)

@Simplysped: Yes, they've done several shirts with gradients. They just aren't showing the print with the halftones.

Sooo agree on the middle fade. It's highly distracting in an otherwise interesting design. It's going to look like you accidentally got something in the middle of your tee (not to mention it serves no aesthetic purpose that I can see). :/

The fade looks wonderful on the girls tee but not so much on the guys...

I'd almost say it'd be better if they had the opposite of the flare: a dark gradient coming in on the face. I'd think it'd look better with the darker blue shirt.

Anyway, that raven/crow samurai is very similar to a design I was working on... weird.

Ok, so this shirt is typical. I do agree that the guys have a better color. I do see, but dislike the fade in the center of the design. It would be better smaller and maybe on a deep, dark red colored tee. Good try though...

I'm seeing a lens flair too, or at least a fade there of a sort of yellowy-pinkish fade edge brush.
I like the color on the Guy's t-shirt but the fade/flair kinda puts me off.

For reals, people. If you don't like it, don't buy it. You don't have to comment and justify why you won't unless it's helpful artistic criticism that will aid the creator in the future. Otherwise you're just contributing to clutter.

As for the lens flare, I think it works better on the girls because the fade on the girls stays a cool tone, while the black ink on the guys starts to get a warm more brownish tone, conflicting with the darker blue. The lens flare might be distracting because it fades the eye area instead of highlighting it. Sweet graphics, though.

How are posts yelling at other users any less useless, or any less "clutter" than these posts themselves? :) It's a forum, as long as its not obscene or threatening, all posts are valid.

I really like the design, but its not for me. Seeing as I'm not an artist, I can't give any detailed critique like some users would want me to, but I can give my opinion, and I'll still visit Teefury everyday. Even tho this tee isn't for me, hope to see you printed again Doctor J!

The fade kinda makes my eyes hurt on these colors tho, so im going to have to pass.

Hi all.

The central gradient is supposed to be the focal point so it seems to have done it's job. I know that the gradient will not look as harsh on the tee.

I think is a great design to print on a shirt; the size and placement work very well, along with the symmetry. I think it would look even better if instead of black ink, it were something like navy blue on baby blue for girls, and some lighter color (light blue, or even yellow) on the dark men's shirt, to make it pop. I like the tattoo-ish style :)

About the design, not for me this time. The gradient...I dunno, I don't really dig it.

However, if the gradient were gone and it were printed in FUZZY VELVET PRINTING it would have been way cooler. ;)

Eh, the design's pretty okay, but yeah, that fade isn't really working for you. Maybe if the fade was into blue/the color of the shirt rather than white.

A word from wotto: I love designs like this, simple but with a deeper meaning. Doctor J has the same thoughts as me. I too hope that at some point there was a Taotie beast roaming around China eating stuff. It was a pleasure working with this artist and I suggest you abide my the Taotie and snap this one up.

Tell us a little about this design.
As it happens, I love all styles of Asian art, but I am always particularly fascinated by the art from the earliest periods of Chinese history. This mask design is loosely based off of a recurring Shang bronze decoration known only as the "taotie mask". I like to think that the taotie was an actual, mythical beast that lived back in 3000 B.C. that we just haven't uncovered paleontological evidence of yet.

Where in the world are you?
I live in good 'ol Virginia, United States.

What is your favourite medium?
Well, definitely pencil and ink first--I haven't worked up to drawing completely freehand on my Wacom yet, but Wacom+photoshop is always my next step after a good pen and pencil drawing.

Which superhero power would you like the most and why?
I think about this a lot, and my answer's actually pretty obscure. In Japan, there's a superhero called Kamen Rider who has a belt that magically gives him a super suit and a bunch of powers including super strength and speed. So I think if I could just get one of those belts, that would be great.

Who is the best villain ever?
Hands down, Megatron from the original Transformers. His crackly Frank Welker voice plus his giant Fusion cannon just made him such a great bad guy to behold (see below :P).

What was the last song you listened to?
That would be "Night Court" by Mux Mool.

Favourite quote/lyric?

Who has been the best client you have designed for?
I like non-profit groups/organizations. They usually don't pay or pay very little, but they're always just so happy and content with whatever you come up with. It's a nice morale booster.

Who would you most like to collaborate with?
Easy. Katsushika Hokusai, a Japanese woodblock print artist...but he's dead.

How many t-shirts do you own?
Haha. Too many to count. I probably own around 100 shirts, give or take. If I can get it up to 365, I'll never have to do laundry again.

Which website do you go to everyday?
Well, I check Gmail (does that count?) just about every minute, but other than that, probably Facebook. Pretty sad, I guess.

I've just started a blog--Doctor J's Predilection Prescription (itsdoctorj.blogspot.com). There's not much to it yet, but I plan on updating frequently with my art and musings. So please check often!
